Saying that man and woman are the only genders is actually LESSÂ nuanced than saying that earth, water, air, and fire are the only elements.
Having taught LGBTQ+ topics to engineers for years, I really like this approach.

Happy International Womenâs Day!
Today we celebrate International Womenâs Day, a day in which we honor and recognize the contributions of womenâŚboth on Earth and in space.
Since the beginning, women have been essential to the progression and success of Americaâs space program.
Throughout history, women have had to overcome struggles in the workplace. The victories for gender rights were not achieved easily or quickly, and our work is not done.
Today, we strive to make sure that our legacy of inclusion and excellence lives on.
We have a long-standing cultural commitment to excellence that is largely driven by data, including data about our people. And our data shows progress is driven by questioning our assumptions and cultural prejudices â by embracing and nurturing all talent we have available, regardless of gender, race or other protected status, to build a workforce as diverse as our mission. This is how we, as a nation, will take the next giant leap in exploration.
As a world leader in science, aeronautics, space exploration and technology, we have a diverse mission that demands talent from every corner of America, and every walk of life.
So, join us today, and every day, as we continue our legacy of inclusion and excellence.
Happy International Womenâs Day!

The Story of Illum - A Bardic Tale
In ages far past, the city of Illum flourished and stood as a bastion of reason and learning. Â You see, Illum was home to The Great Library, not just a storehouse for books, but a place of living knowledge. Â The shelves of the library were a hundred feet tall and the rows went on for miles and miles. Â The library housed classrooms and lecture halls, dorm rooms and mess halls, laboratories and treasure vaults. Â The Masters of the Lore paid adventurers of all sorts of ilk to find them new knowledge in the world. Â But, that's besides the point as none of that is what lead to Illumâs downfall.
It was King Erven and Prince Brytlon of the ruling monarchy of Irisdin and the people of power and the people of desire that led to the city of Illum burning. You see, in those days there was a strict chaste system and a rigid social ladder that dictated ones place in society. Â You were born to your mother and only through passing tests and payment to the Masters and King could you raise your status. Â But even then, knowledge was sacrosanct and any citizen could apply for access to any book or scroll.
After a series of burglaries King Erven came up with some new laws about who could access what parts of The Great Library. Â You see, some lowborn folk had broken into labs and rooms that were forbidden without proper approvals. Â Though I say âapprovalsâ it was really just paperwork and patience as the thought of restricting knowledge was as abhorrent as burning it. Â Among the stolen knowledge was that of demon fire which didn't bode well. Â And so King Erven decreed that much of the Library would be off limits without proper rank. Â The poor were no longer able to better themselves and foreigners, many of which were adventurers that had recovered the Lore to begin with, were denied access without enormous fees.
This led to a bit of a kerfuffle between Prince Brytlon and his father. Â You see, the prince had many chums met through schooling, and they had families that could no longer learn. Â Prince Brytlon begged his father to retract the new laws, but King Erven would have none of it. Â Instead the king had the princeâs schoolmates slain for spreading treasonous thoughts, their flayed bodies a warning to others.
This enraged Prince Brytlon and he took up the cause of the people more vehemently than before. Â You see, the people loved the prince and when they were called upon they were happy to rise up. Â Now oddly, an educated populace yearns for action with unfortunate ignorance to the true costs of conflict. Â And so it was that the Illumians fought, calling on adventurers and soldiers to aid their sides.
The people didn't know how much they would lose when the demon fires were lit. Â You see, demon fire feeds on rage in a magic way, and no flame is as hot as the flame of rebellion. Â The torches consumed the palace, but weren't sated by that. Â They jumped on the winds and ignored efforts to douse them. Â The hungry flames fed on the books, the scrolls, and the maps. Â Magic couldn't stop these flames fed fueled by strife.
When the ashes settled at last, Illum was in ruin. Â You see, the King and the Masters, the students and adventures, had all fallen to the flame as the books and tomes. Â There was no longer greatness and no longer a library, and in fact even a city no longer remained. Â And that is how a hunger for knowledge led to an age without it.
