My Oasis Experience over the Weekend in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Well, now I have seen Oasis twice over the weekend in Argentina and I donβt think I will be able to get over it π
I am from Argentina, but I donβt live in Buenos Aires, so I arrived on Friday. The vibe was superb since I first arrived. A lot of people were wearing Oasis T-shirts, including me, something I had never seen before. On Saturday I met Andy Bell and he gave me his autograph.
Then, I headed towards River Plate Stadium really early in the afternoon and there was already people queuing. However, queuing was the absolute worst π£ The heat was unbearable because we were standing directly under the sun for about two hours, and once we got in, I was able to find a good spot in the front standing area. When the Adidas ad was played everyone sung along Live Forever, which almost brought me to tears. And then I had to wait for about three hours more until Richard Ashcroft got into stage. He was literally sparkling under the sunset β¨
I was deeply moved when I listened to Weeping Willow live, itβs one of my favorite songs ever π₯Ή But, where I was standing, not many people knew his songs π‘ His part of the show went by too fast, I really need to attend to a solo concert of his. Finally, he performed Bittersweet Symphony and the crowd was splendid. It was impressive listening the intro sung by so many people.
Then, we had to wait for another half hour and Oasis came out.
The crowd grew kind of too violent for me and I got displaced towards the right of the stage, and during the first couple of songs I was in a really good spot. The crowd didnβt really understand the poznan π But some girls next to me and I did the poznan together. Then, I was incredibly thirsty, because the heat was still unbearable and felt that if I didnβt drink some water, I would faint, so I headed towards the hydration station and drank about three or four whole cups of water, but I wasnβt able to find that spot again ππ In any case, I was still close and had a good time. People went mad when Diego Maradona came up on screen and Liam dedicated Live Forever to him. It is deeply moving hearing the crowd singing every word of songs in a really passionate way, even the guitar riffs.
When the concert finished, I wasnβt sad because I would be able to experience it all over again the next day. On Sunday, I didnβt go to River Plate Stadium so early because I had sitting tickets. So first I went to the Oasis fan store and bought a tote bag. I would have never imagined buying something at an Oasis store in Argentina.
I thought that I would have to wait shorter than on Saturday, but then when Richard was supposed to take the stage, nothing happened. And they didnβt inform us about an hour later what was going on.
Because of the strong winds the schedule was modified. On Saturday it was hot as hell, but on Sunday it was freezing π₯Ά Thankfully I had taken a jacket. Richard didnβt sing Weeping Willow or A Song For the Lovers this time because his time on stage was shorter π‘ It was lovely when he dedicated Lucky Man to Kate Radley, his wife, because he wrote that song for her π₯Ήπ While singing, shouting and jumping just like if we had a standing ticket, I didnβt feel that cold anymore.
The fireworks were outstanding, and finally, after Champagne Supernova, Noel started shouting ARGENTINA ARGENTINA, and all of us shouted along with him.
I donβt know what else I can say that hasnβt been said yet by everyone who was there. It was the event that I anticipated the most for over a year, and now that the two concerts of my life are over, I donβt know how I will go on ππ The year just flew by for me waiting for this moment, but Iβm grateful I was able to experience it and see my favorite band, the one I follow since I was 15. My aim now is to see Oasis live in the UK.
Finally, to wrap up my concert weekend, yesterday night I went to yet another concert and saw Andrea Bocelli perform at Teatro ColΓ³n, which is the most important theater in the country.
I think that I added everything I wanted to say π€ If I remember something else, I will add it later.
