It was a hot day in Woodsboro, the birds were chirping, bees were flying, and the sun was bright. You were heading to class when someone pulled you by the waist, making you squeal and smile. "Hey, hey, hey, who's the pretty girl in the hallway?" Hongjoong peered behind you, nuzzling into your neck. Seonghwa laughed and looked down at your outfit.
A black lace cropped tank top, a pair of black ripped jeans, and black Converse. Seonghwa whistled before smiling, looking into your eyes. "So, where's Hanni? I've been looking for her everywhere." Hanni was your best friend, always with you. "She's probably in the bathroom, I haven't seen her today," you spoke softly.
"I'm gonna head to class, we have exams for Mr. Miller today, and I can not fail these exams." You gave Hongjoong a peck on the lips before leaving. The boys looked at each other, smirking, before they split up for their own classes.
The nights in Woodsboro were quiet and calm, and the weather was always nice, especially during autumn. The town was small, people were close, and there was hardly any crime, despite the case going around where a man killed your mother. Everyone kept telling you he was innocent, but you knew better. Your mother was a nice, nurturing figure in your life before she passed, so why would people hate her?
On the other side of town, Caroline Cooper, a student at Woodsboro High, was watching a scary movie when she decided to get popcorn. As she got up, she jumped at the sound of glass breaking. It was just from the movie, she brushed it off. She grabbed a Jiffy pop before putting it on the stove, turning it on.
The phone started to ring, so she looked over, confused. Picking up the phone, her voice came through. "Hello?"
"Hey Caroline," the voice came through. It was deep, buttery, but overall intimidating.
"Who is this," she answered with confusion, her body a bit tense.
"Oh, don't worry, you don't need to know. But let me ask you, what's your favorite scary movie." The voice was clearly a man's, but Caroline brushed past that, though. She didn't even realize she shouldn't be talking to strangers late at night.
"Uh, Scream!" Caroline smiled, answering with no hesitation.
"Isn't that the one where the guy stalks teens and kills them?" The voice was obviously smiling behind the phone.
Caroline smiled, checking on the popcorn behind her. "Something like that. Ghostface kills people when they're alone. He has this grudge on humanity for some weird reason."
"Ghostface is a he?" The voice was teasing.
Giggling, Caroline nodded, her voice clearer now. "Ghostface is one person."
"But he could be two people," the voice spoke with subtle challenge.
"Maybe, but that wouldn't work, would it? Two people can't get away with murder. It's nonsense! They're always caught in the end." She rolled her eyes, checking on the popcorn again before realizing it would take a while.
"You never told me your name," the voice came through, sounding mischievous yet teasing.
"Why do you want to know my name?" Caroline bit her lip, twirling the phone cord.
"I wanna know who I'm looking at."
"What," Caroline's voice faltered.
"I said I wanna know who I'm talking to."
"No, you didn't say that." Caroline started to move around the house, checking the locks.
"Hey Caroline, do me a favor and check the patio." The voice went quiet afterward, waiting.
Hesitating, Caroline ran to her back doors, turning the light on. Outside was her boyfriend, James, tied to a chair. His mouth was taped, his legs and arms tied to the chair. He was struggling, looking up at her with panic.
"Who are you?" Caroline started to panic, crying.
"Relax and answer my questions. If you get them right, I'll let him go." The voice chuckled slightly.
"What do you want?!" Caroline cried, backing into a corner of the room.
"Listen, listen. Tell me the name of the killer who murdered his sister, Laurie."
Immediately, Caroline yelled through the phone, "Myers! It's Michael Myers!"
"Correct," the voice praised, clearly feeling spurred on by the answer. "Now, tell me the name of the killer who appears in your nightmares?"
"Freddy Krueger! It's Freddy!!" She cried, answering quickly once more.
"Correct. Now, here's your last question." The voice laughed, "what is the name of the killer in the Texas chainsaw massacre? If you get this right, your boyfriend will go, untouched."
"It's leatherface! I know that because I worked at a movie store!" She sobbed, panicking.
"Then you should know his real name is Bubba Sawyer, Leatherface is just the name he gets later in the movie! Don't you watch horror movies?! Say goodbye to your lovely boyfriend." The voice laughed before the house and patio went dark.
Caroline ran to her patio, sobbing and screaming, "James! No!" She tried to open the door, but it was locked. Crying, she screamed to the patio, calling again. "James!!!"
The phone rang, and she picked it up, sobbing, "Who's there?!" Immediately, the mysterious voice scolded again. "You never say 'who's there' when answering the phone! You claim to watch scary movies, but you don't know the one rule? It's a death wish!"
Caroline sobbed, "fuck you, stay away from my boyfriend." The voice laughed at her answer, clearly feeling excited to hear her terror and frustration. "Listen here, you little bitch. Don't talk back to me like that! I'm going to gut you like a fish, just like your boyfriend!"
Caroline slammed the phone against its cradle and sobbed, screaming. Just then, the doorbell rang. Crying, she moved to the front door and opened it, only to check outside. Nobody. As she moved back in, she locked the door. That's when she heard a glass window break, running down the hall to hide.
Just as she closed her eyes, the voice called from the living room. "Come on, Caroline, I just want to talk!" She cried and yelled, "Go away!!" That made the mysterious person laugh, and she realized they were near.
Turning around, a man with a black robe and white Ghostface mask tilted his head. "Boo." She screamed, ran, and saw her parents on the way home at a distance. She hesitated but started to run, though she was tackled to the ground. Screaming, she tried to push off the Ghostface entity, but he stabbed her chest.
She wheezed and tried to call out for her parents, who were entering the house. They didn't hear her, too busy talking about their night out. The man stabbed her heart, then grabbed her neck roughly, revealing his mask, only to giggle.
Entering the house, Caroline's parents looked around for Caroline, only to see a haze of smoke. Her mom sniffed the air, "Is something burning?" The father went into the kitchen to see popcorn burning on the stove before putting out the fire. Meanwhile, her mom looked for Caroline, finding the house empty. She saw broken glass, then checked every room.
Opening the front door, she gasped and screamed. "Oh my god!!!!" Her father walked over, tense as soon as he saw his lovely daughter hanging from a tree by a phone chord. "Get the car, I'll call the police," her father nudged her mother gently.
I do NOT know most horror movies. Also, I didn't want to copy the movie Word for Word or Scene for Scene because this is based on the movie, and what would be the point of writing this fic? Also! Honorable mention, yungistiny. They did Yungi as Ghostface, too, first. I wanted to do this because it's summerween and I love the scream franchise, plus it'd be fun! Anyway, that's all from me. I love you, and I hope you enjoyed the first part! β₯οΈ
