I remember the one time I got flamed by like ten ppl and called a rapist in a YouTube comment section for disagreeing with the idea that referring to smut fics with words like noncon and dubcon promotes rape. But hopefully tumblr can have better literacy.
I think using different words for romanticised fictional scenarios and real serious issues is good. It distinguishes fiction from reality. Like imagine if ppl started calling their yandere moodboards “stalking and harassment moodboards” or if people talked about being ✨whisked away✨and ✨taken✨ by their f/o like “I hope to be kidnapped and sexually assaulted”. It would be incredibly confusing and horny posts would get all mixed up with actual awareness posts.
If you hate dubcon and stuff and you think it normalises real assault then that’s fine by me. The problem is insisting that people who like that stuff use words for real serious issues for some petty gotcha at the expense of everyone else’s internet experience.
