I love yoonmin, but there's a couple of things that don`t make sense in their timeline. First of all, "Wine" and "Seesaw"are both songs we all see as yoonmin songs, but don`t you think it`s kinda cruel of Yoongi to sing Seesaw and even consider it a group song if this was about a very recent break up with one of his members? Yoongi isn`t cruel (He wrote it August 2018 which would mean yoonmin had to have a break up around that time for it to make some sense). Now with Wine almost everything clicks to me, but his reaction when Yoongi won the award, he got so happy and looked so proud, I would assume he would at least feel a little uncomfy to see a song about them highlighted like that, specially if their relationship was as complex as Yoongi describes in seesaw (and recent !! the song was released on Apr 2017, he won the award on Dec 2017). Now, I do believe he could be acting, but Jimin isn`t insincere, he would probably at least look a little sad, idk.
The second thing is what makes the least sense to me, during Muse promotions Jimin made it quite clear he didn`t have a partner and was dealing with the weird loneliness the idol life can bring, he even mentioned to Joon during Mini Moni Music how he couldn`t remember the last time he had a crush. Once again, he could be lying, but Jimin has said time and time again how he doens`t enjoy doing that to Army.
P.S. I truly believe Seesaw is connected to SDL, People, People Pt. 2 and Come over, cause they talk about similar topics and it would all make sense if it were about the same relationship and A LOT of stuff makes me think it`s Jimin, but some just don`t make sense.
P.S. 2 Yoongi released a I NEED U x Seesaw remix on soundcloud around the same time the album was released and if you listen to it half of it is Jimin`s voice, I geniunely think it would be extremely sadistic to do this if it were someone you just broke up with.
Anyways, I`ve been wreaking my brain to see if I can find an answer to this, cause I`m extremely hyperfocused on them, so if you could find an explanation, I would be very happy.
Hi, @paradoxociclo-blog! Sounds like youāre really going through it! š Trying to sift through years worth of lyrics, moments, interviews, etc can get really confusing and can make it feel like our minds are going in circles. A couple of things Iāll say:
1. While I think itās important to look at lyrics, I also think we have to remember how complicated that can get. If you look at the writing credits for most of the group and solo songs, youāll see there are usually at least 3-4 people involved. And that means we arenāt always getting one personās perspective/experience in the lyrics. We are listening to a song that conveys the artistās story but that has also been through multiple variations/edits/etc on its way from rough draft to finished song.
For me, when it comes to yoonmin, the most important type of evidence doesnāt come from their lyrics but from their words about and toward each other and their actions. Lyrics can be difficult to interpret. But Jimin saying āI went to his house and saw him making cute faces at the dog,ā and Yoongi saying āwe played guitar and sang [at Jiminās house]ā carry more significance to me when it comes to understanding their dynamic because they are much more straight-forward and there is less room for ambiguity.
2. In terms of Seesaw specifically: I spent a lot of time looking at Seesaw and trying to figure it out, but didnāt come to any solid conclusion. I think it could be about a romantic relationship, or it could be about competitiveness toward someone else he was close to (even platonically), or it could even be about his own mental health. Also, I disagree about the ācrueltyā you seem to be getting from the lyrics. I donāt hear anger or betrayal. I hear frustration but also longing. Think about how softly yoongi sings the closing lines. That is not anger or bitterness, in my opinion. He seems to still have lingering feelings for this person but is resigned to the fact that they struggle to stay balanced. And he feels like they have no choice but to end thingsā¦unless they can get out of the cycle they are in. (Just my opinion!)
3. I wrote a lot about Muse around the time it was released, so I wonāt repeat myself, but I think we need to remember that the album was described as conceptual, unlike Face which clearly was very personal and had a more linear timeline in terms of describing Jiminās feelings during the pandemic. Muse is much more ambiguous in terms of what is ārealā and what isnāt. Even Who itself calls into question the more romantic songs that happen earlier in the track list. Personally, I would be very hesitant to draw definite conclusions about Jiminās personal life based on this album.
Anyway, I certainly donāt claim to have all the answers, and thereās so much we donāt know. But I do think we have loads of evidence that suggests that yoonmin are close and are special to each other. š
