hmm maybe you can read it up here? http://animalcrossing.wikia.com/wiki/StreetPass it's a more detailed explanation on the whole streetpass system. The main thing is to talk to Digby to enable streetpass, switch on wireless, bring the 3DS out and hope that you run into other 3DS owners.

when you streetpass someone with animal crossing their house will be registered in the HHA showcase (guarded by Digby) so you can look around in their house and order furnitures etc.
