RAPTURE'S MORTICIAN

Somehow I wound up revisiting the Sam & Mona playlist I assembled on Spotify two years ago and got hit with a very odd sort of nostalgia. Bittersweet. That’ll be the word for it. 

I tried revisiting Sam last year, but I was in a really really bad place and just couldn’t string a single sentence together. He’d been bred from one heartache, and couldn’t manage to help me mend the next. But that’s okay. I’m okay now - better than okay, actually. I know I haven’t spoken to very many of you since falling off the face of the earth and this is just another block of text to scroll through in your newsfeed, but I want to thank those of you who I’ve interacted with since late 2013. For every little word of encouragement, every post that inspired me. Every moment in which I felt welcome and important.

It’s sad to acknowledge that Sam isn’t much more than a memory now, but he was there when I needed the distraction. Moving forward, I may lurk here every now and then to say hello, but my focus has shifted greatly. I’m getting married this year. Holy shit, I never thought I’d say those words after drinking my way through a rock-solid year of depression, but hope arrived at the exact right moment.
