If you ever hear the phrase "fascism is aesthetics as politics," that's what this post is talking about.

It's not about being tough on crime, because the absolute toughest most brutal measure you could take against "crime" as a social problem is to alleviate poverty, and increase access to education, healthcare and social mobility.

It's about performing "tough on crime" as an aesthetic by enacting violence against a prop, i.e. minorities and the impoverished, who are fetishized and objectified to represent "crime." They are brutalized as punishment for crime, but never with the purpose of alleviating the problem of crime.

This is why a lot of conservatives and other right wingers can get straight up angry when you suggest things like reform or social measures to reduce crime. They don't want crime to be reduced, they want an eternal war against "crime" because it provides an arena for the righteous to demonstrate virtue by brutalizing their enemies.

I wonder if Stratt felt a certain way about Grace’s imposter syndrome, like was she jealous? Did she find it endearing? She’s never shown to doubt her own decisions but she must’ve known that she doesn’t have that luxury anyway, since a world-saving global project has to be led by someone who is fully confident and knows what they’re doing. There must’ve been some kind of joy/catharsis that came after the worlds been saved just from watching the recordings and seeing Grace freak out and even break down over having to figure out how to solve everything. He’s the only other human who could understand what that’s like, and unlike Stratt he gets to process his feelings about it, his doubt, guilt, uncertainty etc. He can second guess himself. It’s like watching your Blorbo experience the same trauma you went through. I think Grace must’ve been like Stratt’s blorbo

(i kinda wanna scan this through as is for colouring page purposes lol. might do so after cleaning up the pencil)

hopefully i made the silly little details quite clear but:

there's a devil's tail coming out of the 'angel' 's gown as they tempt you with takeout treats

tried to emphasize the roundness of the delivery driver helmet with the aureole behind

it will hopefully be clearer upon colouring it in but the cornucopia is supposed to be made out of thermal delivery bag material. it's why there's a lid and a zipper
