oh please elaborate on scorpion symbolism!! i love animal symbols but i can't believe i never considered scorpions before

scorpions are so rich for thematic and symbolic interpretations okay. i mean think about it. they're frequently seen as malicious, spiteful pests, but the scorpion is given no choice in how it was made. the scorpion didn't ask for claws that pinch and draw blood, or a hard armored shell, or a poisonous sting. and yet its nature is enough to turn opinion against it. and those same hateful features are its only defences against a world that despises it. you can crush the scorpion beneath your heel, and it can only sting you in retaliation. why should a creature like that trust any other living thing to be gentle with it? why shouldn't it be spiteful, if that's what it takes to deter those who would harm it? what other choice was it ever given? what else did you expect?

i think only going back to my wattpad era can save me now.
