This is me on twitter. If you look up my twitter handle with your name, I’m sure you’ll be overwhelmed by how many tweets there are. As a songwriter you have inspired me to be more emotional in my writing (I put a thank you to YOU in my last album ROMANTIC CANCER)
I just want to say that as a tiny independent songwriter, it means a lot that you are taking a stand about owning your own music. I really meant what I wrote in that tweet. I have stood up against quite literally everyone it feels like and get called “hysterical” or “crazy” because I won’t let myself get walked all over. IT took over five years for a big media outlet to cover my story with the band I was in, Foxygen, because my abuser is on a bigger label than me. He has used DARVO (deny -attack-reverse - victim - offender) tactics on me and started claiming HE was the victim!!
I have seen how toxic the music industry is and it SCARES me to know someone as powerful as YOU still has to deal with this shit. Pitchfork just wrote about my legal trial (I never got a fair hearing, couldn’t afford legal representation)....
A judge ruled on procedural grounds that le Fey could not receive a restraining order against her former bandmate / ex-boyfriend.
