They called the basement of Saint Judeâs Psychiatric Facility âThe Well.â
It was where the state dumped the cases that defied medicine, God, and basic human decency. Down here, thirty feet below ground, the walls bled damp salt, the air tasted permanently of industrial bleach and damp wool.
Nurses on the upper floors avoided taking shifts down here after four in the afternoon. The sub-level held the long-term containment cases, the ones the state had given up on classifying. But you were twenty-six, freshly certified and newly transferred from an outpatient clinic in the city, you were young enough to view the transfer as an opportunity. Your predecessors had relied heavily on chemical restraints and brief, ten-minute check-ins conducted through the door slots. Your approach was different. You believed that consistent, unhurried human contact was the only thing that actually produced long-term behavioral changes.
Marcus, the chief orderly on the sub-level, stood outside the heavy door with a ring of brass keys in his hand. A dark scar ran through his left eyebrow, pulling the eyelid down in a permanent squint from an old injury.
"He does not talk to staff," Marcus said, keeping his voice low as he reached for the deadbolt. "The last doctor tried to sit across from him without guards in the room and lasted four minutes before he panicked and ran out. Keep your distance from the table. If he moves toward you, hit the wall button immediately."
"I reviewed his file over the weekend," you said, adjusting the heavy leather folder under your arm. "I know he has a history of sudden aggression."
"His file is fifty pages of incident reports," Marcus grunted, turning the key until the iron latch gave a hard, metallic pop. "It tells you he broke a guard's arm in October. It does not tell you what goes on in his head."
The heavy door creaked open on dry hinges.
The cell was narrow, lit by a single long light fixture mounted high on the ceiling behind a steel wire cage. A thick steel table sat in the middle of the room, bolted directly to the concrete floor, flanked by two heavy stools.
In the far corner, sitting flat on the cold floor with his back against the wall, sat Eli.
He was lean and slightly built, his frame looking small inside a faded grey canvas jumpsuit that hung loose on his shoulders. Messy dark hair fell over his forehead, almost touching his hazel eyes. He remained still as you entered, watching the floor.
You pulled out the stool on your side of the table and sat down. You placed your notepad flat on the metal surface, uncapped your pen, and waited.
The first month proved to be a test of endurance rather than a clinical breakthrough.
For six consecutive sessions, Eli offered zero verbal responses. He spent the hours tracking the movement of your pen, staring at his own scarred knuckles, or fixing his gaze directly on your throat. He was watching for the subtle signs every other visitor showed: the quick glance toward the security camera, the nervous shifting of feet, the shallow breathing of someone trying not to show fear.
During the third week, he finally pushed for a reaction.
Midway through a routine question about his sleep schedule, both of his heavy palms struck the metal table in a sudden, deafening blow.
The metallic impact echoed off the concrete walls like a gunshot. Key metal rattled frantically in the lock outside as Marcusâs heavy boots rushed the door.
Though your pulse spiked and blood roared in your ears, you forced your muscles to remain still. You kept your hands away from the red panic button, took a slow breath through your nose, and rested the pen back on your notepad.
"Marcus, stay outside! I'm fine," you called toward the door, keeping your eyes locked onto the patient. "Do not open the room."
The footsteps outside paused, then slowly retreated.
Silence settled over the cell once more.
Leaning heavy across the table, his chest heaving, Eli searched your face for any sign of fear. He expected pale skin, a trembling lip, or the instinctual flinch of a victim.
Instead, you remained steady, meeting his gaze directly.
"That was loud," you noted, keeping your tone smooth and even. "Did that clear out some of the tension, or are you still looking to hit something?"
His aggressive posture stalled. A flicker of genuine confusion crossed his sharp features, and he slowly drew his hands back from the steel surface, inspecting his own palms.
"We have twenty minutes left," you added, straightening your pad. "Whenever you're ready, we can try again."
For the next two weeks, the routine remained unchangedâa tense, quiet standoff where he offered little more than monosyllables. But things changed during your fifth week, on a humid Tuesday afternoon when the main generator died during a heavy storm.
The facility's backup system kicked in instantly, but the emergency low-voltage humming sent a piercing, high-pitched buzz through the concrete walls. To the staff, it was a minor annoyance. To Eli, whose senses were already hyper-reactive, it was unbearable.
When you entered Cell 409, Eli wasn't at the table. He was curled up in the corner, his knees pulled tightly to his chest, his fingernails digging so hard into his own temples that small beads of blood were forming on his skin. He was hyperventilating, his eyes blown wide, trapped in a severe sensory meltdown.
Outside, Marcus reached for his pepper spray. "Doc, step back. I'll call two more orderlies and we'll throw him in leather restraints until the power resets."
"No," you said firmly, placing a hand on Marcus's arm. "Restraints will only traumatize him more. Give me five minutes."
You closed the cell door behind you, blocking Marcus out. Instead of staying behind the table, you crossed the room and knelt directly on the cold concrete floor right in front of Eli.
"Eli," you said softly, keeping your voice low and rhythmic. "Look at me."
He shook his head wildly, a broken, breathless sob escaping his throat as his knuckles bled into his hairline.
Without hesitating, you reached out and gently wrapped your hands over his trembling fingers, slowly pulling them away from his forehead. His skin was burning hot, his pulse hammering like a trapped bird. The moment your fingers touched his, Eli froze completely. His hazel eyes snapped to yours, wide with shock.
In Saint Judeâs, touch meant force. It meant orderlies pinning him to the floor, needles piercing his skin, or heavy handcuffs biting into his wrists.
He had never felt a touch that was soft. He had never felt someone willingly hold his hands to anchor him.
"You're safe," you murmured, holding his hands securely between yours, ignoring the blood smudging onto your knuckles. "Focus on my voice. Breathe in through your nose. Follow my rhythm."
For ten minutes, you stayed on the floor with him in the dim, buzzing light. Slowly, his ragged breathing hitched, slowed, and aligned with yours. His hands, rough and calloused, relaxed inside your grip. He didn't pull away. He stared at your face as if he were seeing color for the very first time, taking in the faint warmth of your hands, the calm line of your jaw, and the absolute absence of disgust or fear in your eyes.
When the emergency generator finally cut off and the lights stabilized, you gently let go of his hands and stood up.
"Our time is up for today, Eli," you said softly, wiping your hands with a tissue from your pocket. "I'll see you on Thursday."
Eli remained on the floor, staring up at you. He lifted his hand, touching the exact spot on his fingers where your palms had rested.
From that exact afternoon, the atmosphere inside Cell 409 completely transformed.
The other patients in The Well were not quiet men. They screamed at the ceiling, banged their tin cups against the bars, and fought the orderlies during every shift change. But whenever Eli was led down the central corridor for his mandatory fifteen minutes in the courtyard, total silence fell over the entire floor.
Patients who usually threw violent fits backed away into the darkest corners of their cells the second his bare feet touched the hallway floor.
During a routine group intake assessment in the recreation hall, a large, unpredictable patient named Miller suffered a sudden psychotic break. Miller had snapped a wooden leg off a broken folding chair, swinging it wildly at the staff. The orderlies scattered, pulling their batons, but Miller lunged directly toward you, his eyes wide and unseeing.
Before Marcus or any guard could step between you, Eli moved.
He did not shout. He crossed the room in a quick, fluid run, slipping behind the larger man in a second.
A sharp, loud crack echoed through the room as Eli dislocated Millerâs shoulder, driving the man face-first into the concrete floor.
Eli pinned Miller down, placing his knee firmly against the back of the man's neck. Leaning down until his mouth was inches from Millerâs ear, Eli whispered something so softly that only Miller could hear it.
Miller, a man who had spent five years terrorizing the guards, went completely stiff. He stopped struggling entirely, weeping quietly into the concrete, terrified to make another sound.
Within seconds, the blaring alarm screamed through the recreation hall. Four heavy guards rushed in, batons drawn, slamming their boots against the floor.
"Get off him! Hands behind your back, 409! On the ground NOW!" Marcus barked, aiming his pepper spray directly at Eli's face while two other orderlies grabbed Eli by his arms, yanking him off Miller's back with violent force.
Eli didn't fight the guards back. As they forced his arms behind him, twisting his wrists into heavy steel handcuffs, Eli kept his head turned entirely toward you. He ignored the guard forcing his shoulder down and the orderlies shouting in his ears.
"Did he touch you?" Eli asked softly, his voice shaky as he tried to pull against the guards' grip to step closer, his eyes scanning over your face, your hands, your clothes. "Doc, tell me he didn't touch you."
"I'm... I'm fine, Eli," you breathed, stunned by the chaotic contrast.
"Secure him! Take him to Isolation Cell 1!" the head guard ordered, shoving Eli hard toward the heavy security doors. "Four days isolation for assault!"
As the four orderlies dragged Eli down the narrow hallway toward the punishment wing, his eyes never left yours until the heavy iron isolation door slammed shut between you.
Because Eli was placed in isolation for four days, you had to request special administrative permission to visit him in the punishment wing. When he was finally released back to Cell 409, his fixation on you had evolved into something absolute.
To help him channel his thoughts, you brought him a sketchpad and a set of charcoal pencils. When you walked into Cell 409 the following Tuesday, the entire pad was filled with detailed drawings.
"May I see?" you asked gently.
Eli slid the pad across the table, his eyes tracking your face for any sign of disapproval. He did not sit across from you anymore; he pulled his stool around to the side of the table, sitting as close to your chair as he physically could.
You flipped through the pages. The first page showed a small wooden house surrounded by tall pine trees, with two figures holding hands on the porchâunmistakably Eli and you.
The next page showed a bright kitchen set for two, complete with paper tea cups. The page after that held a drawing of a simple gold band resting on a bedside table next to a small glass vase holding a dried flower.
"What is all of this, Eli?" you asked softly.
Eli leaned in closer, his shoulder pressing against yours. His breath was warm against your cheek, his eyes wide and bright with a nervous, intense energy.
"Itâs after," he whispered, his voice shaking with excitement. "When my evaluation is done and you tell them I'm cured. Weâll buy a place up north where it doesn't smell like bleach. You won't have to work anymore, Doc. You won't have to look tired or deal with the guards. Iâll make the tea every morning. Exactly one packet of sugar, just how you like it."
He reached out, his fingers hovering right over your hand resting on the table, waiting for permission.
"Weâre going to be so happy there," he added softly, a faint smile breaking across his face. "I draw it every night before they turn the lights off so I can dream about marrying you."
You gently closed the sketchbook, feeling a heavy knot form in your stomach. "Eli, you know my role here is strictly professional. I'm your therapist."
His smile faded, his eyes narrowing as a still, unblinking look settled over his features.
"You're the only person who looks at me, Doc," he murmured softly, leaning closer until his cheek almost touched your shoulder. "That makes you mine."
He began quietly altering the facility's routine to claim more of your time. He learned that if he refused his morning medication, the staff would call you to administer it. If he refused to leave his cell for recreation hour, he would demand that you come read his progress notes to him instead.
Slowly, he shaved away your time with other patients. He altered your daily schedule until almost every hour of your shift was spent either inside Cell 409 or writing reports specifically about his care.
One afternoon, while you were reviewing his chart, a loose thread unravelled from the cuff of your sweater. Before you could pull it off, Eli reached over, snapping the tiny string between his fingernails.
Instead of throwing it away, he wound the thread around his ring finger, tying a small knot at the base.
"Eli, what are you doing?" you asked with a light, nervous laugh.
He looked up at you through his dark hair, lifting his finger to show the string. "Now I'm carrying a piece of you with me when the door closes. So I don't get lonely."
He wore that frayed piece of thread on his finger for three weeks, guarding it fiercely during morning wash hours, refusing to let the orderlies scrub it off.
In late February, a sudden stomach flu left you bedridden. High with a fever, you called into Saint Judeâs at six in the morning to take your first sick day in five months.
By eleven o'clock that morning, your phone began ringing continuously.
It was the main desk at The Well. Marcusâs replacement, a frantic senior orderly named Jenkins, was shouting into the receiver over a loud background noise of metallic crashing and blaring sirens.
"Doc! You need to get down here right now!" Jenkins yelled, his voice cracking. "He's losing his mind!"
"I... I called in sick, Jenkins," you muttered weakly, gripping your phone in bed. "I have a feverâ"
"I don't care, Doc, you have to talk to him!" Jenkins begged, a loud screech of metal echoing through the line. "He woke up, realized you weren't at his door at ten, and snapped! He tore his cot off the wall! He broke two guards' ribs when they tried to slide his tray in! He's screaming that we hid you from him!"
Through the receiver, you heard a deep, raspy voice screaming your name in the backgroundâa raw, desperate sound.
"Put him on the speaker," you whispered, sitting up in bed despite your spinning head.
Static hissed over the line, followed by heavy, ragged breathing directly into the microphone.
"Doc?" Eliâs voice came through, raspy and frantic. "Doc, where are you? They hid you. They took you away from me. I'm breaking the door, Doc. I'm coming to find youâ"
"Eli! Stop!" you commanded, forcing strength into your voice. "I'm sick, Eli. I'm at home in bed. Nobody hid me."
Absolute silence fell on his end of the line. The heavy crashing stopped instantly.
"Sick?" he murmured, his voice shifting in a single second to a soft, heartbroken tone. "You're hurt? You're all alone?"
"I just have a fever. I'll be back on Thursdayâ"
"No, no, no," he whispered frantically, his breath hitching over the speaker. "I need to see you. I can't breathe when you're not here. Please, Doc. Please come back. I'll be good. I won't hit the guards. Just let me see you..."
You spent twenty minutes talking him down, listening to his desperate pleas until he finally allowed the orderlies to lock his cell.
When you returned on Thursday, still pale and weak, the damage in Cell 409 was clear. The concrete walls had deep scratch marks, the metal table was dented, and Eli was sitting in the corner, covered in bruises.
The moment you walked through the door, he stood up and stepped forward immediately. He didn't wait. He pulled you into a tight, suffocating hug, wrapping his arms around your waist and burying his face into the crook of your neck. He held on so hard it made it difficult to breathe, his shoulders shaking as his fingers dug into the back of your coat.
"You came back," he whispered into your skin, his voice muffled and raw. "You came back to me..."
You stood there, frozen, feeling a heavy mix of deep pity and fear as he refused to let go, his grip locking you against him.
Your sick day forced the administration to take a closer look at Cell 409.
Reviewing the incident reports and hallway footage, the chief administrator realized Patient 409âs behavior was not improving; he was simply hyper-fixated on you. They saw how he had altered your daily schedule to isolate you, and how your absence had driven him to tear his cell apart.
On Friday morning, you were called into the director's office.
"We are transferring you to the state psychiatric hospital in the upper district," the director said flatly, sliding a reassignment document across the desk. "Effective immediately. Your vehicle is already packed, and a transport car is waiting outside."
"What?" You stood up, your chair scraping the floor. "You're transferring me today? Director, I need to go down to The Well and explain this to Eli. If I just disappear without telling him, he will tear that wing apart! You saw what happened on Tuesday!"
"No," the director said sternly, raising a hand. "You are not going back down there. Telling him will only cause a scene and trigger another violent episode. It is safer for you, and for the staff, if you leave quietly. The new doctor is already taking over his case."
"Director, pleaseâ"
"That is all, Doctor. Security will escort you to the transport car."
You were escorted out the side doors of Saint Judeâs, unable to say a single word of goodbye.
Down in Cell 409, Eli was waiting.
It was ten o'clock on Tuesday morning. He had spent the entire morning preparing. He had scrubbed his hands clean, combed his dark hair back with his fingers, and tucked a small, carefully folded piece of paper into his pocket.
It was a letter he had spent two nights writingâa full, clear declaration of everything he felt, telling you that he was ready to leave this place with you, asking you to take him away so you could start the life he drew in his sketchbook. He had even smoothed out the frayed piece of sweater thread on his finger, turning it so the little knot faced up.
He sat on his stool, his eyes fixed on the heavy iron door, waiting for the sound of your key in the lock.
10:02 AM.
He smiled to himself, humming softly. You were often a few minutes late because of Marcus or the hallway checks. He adjusted his collar, his heart beating fast against his ribs.
10:05 AM.
The heavy iron bolt finally retracted with a loud metallic pop.
Eli stood up instantly, a bright, genuine smile lighting up his face as he stepped toward the table, reaching into his pocket for the letter. "Doc, Iâ"
The door ground open.
Standing in the doorway was a tall, middle-aged man with graying hair, holding a thick yellow clipboard. Two heavy orderlies stood directly behind him, their hands resting on their stun batons.
"Patient 409?" the new doctor said, stepping into the room without looking up from his papers. "My name is Dr. Evans. Dr. [Last Name] has been permanently reassigned to another facility. I will be taking over your case evaluations from now on."
Eli stopped dead in his tracks.
The smile on his face didn't fade right away; it froze, twitching slightly as his brain tried to process the words. He looked past Dr. Evans's shoulder, searching the empty hallway behind him.
"Where is she?" Eli asked. His voice was extremely quiet, devoid of any emotion.
"She was transferred to the upper district hospital this morning," Dr. Evans replied casually, pulling out the stool across the table. "Now, sit down so we can establish a new baselineâ"
"Where is she?" Eli repeated, taking a slow step forward.
"I just told you, she's gone," Dr. Evans said, frowning as he finally looked up from his clipboard. "Now take your seat, 409â"
In the hallway outside Cell 409, the air suddenly shattered.
A horrible, blood-curdling scream echoed off the concrete walls, followed immediately by the sound of heavy metal crashing, tearing wood, and the frantic, panicked shouts of the orderlies.
Down in the main lobby, miles away from the transport car that was currently driving you to your new hospital, the red emergency sirens of Saint Judeâs began to wail.
Three weeks passed.
Your transition to the upper district hospital was smooth on paper, but your mind remained completely tethered to Saint Jude's. You barely slept. Every loud noise in the quiet clinic hallways made your stomach drop, and you found yourself constantly checking the news, terrified of reading a headline about an outbreak at The Well.
On a rainy Thursday evening, long after your shift had ended, you sat alone at your desk in your new office. The floor was dark, save for the single desk lamp illuminating your paperwork.
A soft knock sounded at your office door.
You jumped slightly, looking up. Standing in the doorway was an old colleague from Saint Judeâsâa nurse named Sarah who had worked on the upper floors. She looked pale, her jacket wet from the rain outside, holding a heavy envelope under her arm.
"Sarah?" you asked, leaning forward. "What are you doing here?"
"I shouldn't be giving you this," Sarah whispered, her voice shaking as she stepped into your office and closed the door behind her. "The director ordered everyone to keep quiet about what happened after you left. They're trying to cover it up so the medical board doesn't investigate."
Your blood ran cold. "What happened to Eli?"
Sarah set the envelope on your desk.
"The moment Dr. Evans told him you were gone, Eli lost his mind," Sarah said quietly, holding her arms tightly against her chest. "He broke Dr. Evans's jaw before the guards could even draw their batons. It took six orderlies and three sedatives to pin him down. He tore the entire cell apart, Doc. He kept screaming that they stole you from him, that you would never leave him on your own."
You stared at the brown envelope, your heart hammering against your ribs. "Where is he now?"
"They moved him to maximum solitary in the basement's lockdown wing," Sarah whispered. "He refuses to eat. He doesn't sleep. He just sits in the dark, staring at the door. But... before they moved him, the cleanup crew found something tucked under his old mattress. I thought you should have it."
You reached out, your trembling hands opening the unsealed envelope.
Inside was Eli's sketchbook.
You pulled it out, flipping open the heavy cover. Every single drawing insideâthe wooden house on the porch, the bright kitchen, the simple gold bandsâhad been ruined. The dark charcoal lines were smeared with faint, dry red stains from where his knuckles had bled as he gripped the pages.
Taped to the inside back cover was a small, torn slip of paper.
Written in Eli's familiar handwriting was a short, shaky declaration:
You didn't leave me, Doc. They took you. I'm going to tear this place down until I find where they put you.
Tucked right beneath the note was the tiny, frayed piece of sweater threadâtied neatly into a little ring, waiting for you to find it.
A/N: hey everyone, iâm finally back! i am so, so sorry for the radio silence and for keeping you all waiting on an updateâcollege has been absolutely drowning me lately, and finding the time to sit down and write has been a real struggle TT. I hope you guys love how it turned out!

Dex loved sushi night Fridays.
You two had settled into the routine months ago without either of you ever really acknowledging it. Fridays after work. The same tiny sushi place tucked between a laundromat and a pawn shop, the sign flickering like it was running on borrowed time.
Inside was all warm amber lighting and fogged windows, the air thick with rice vinegar and the low hiss of the grill.
The hostess smiled the second you walked in now, already reaching for a menu you never looked at, because you already knew what you wanted, and Dex already knew youâd order it before you did.
You referred to it as your âcheat day,â something Dex privately thought was bullshit. You were always working on cutting back on takeout or âtrying to be healthier,â only to cave every Friday night without fail.
But the word cheat implied you were doing something wrong. Indulging something shameful. And he hated the idea of you apologising for your own appetite.
Heâd watched the pattern long enough to know it by heart; Sushi Fridays. Thai food on bad days (red curry, extra spicy, no matter how much it made you sweat). Wingsâany kind reallyâ when you were too tired to cook⌠or on your period.
And coffee, too much coffee, all throughout the week, the same two-pump vanilla order from the cart on 47th.
Dex didnât think you needed to worry about your weight. The thought irritated him every time it surfaced, a low-grade static at the back of his skull. You were beautiful exactly as you were.
If he had things his way, youâd indulge every craving that crossed your mind. Midnight milkshakes. Extra dessert. Those strawberry candies you liked from the bodega near your apartment.
Heâd drive across the city at two in the morning if you suddenly decided you wanted dumplings or lemon cake or greasy diner fries.
The restaurant lights caught against your jewelry when you moved, tiny gold hoops glinting near your jaw. Warm light softened everything about you.
Your skin took on a honeyed tone, the shadows beneath your cheekbones gentle rather than sharp. It made you glow in a way Dex had never been able to properly explain to himself.
Like candlelight catching honey, or the last sun ray through a window at dusk.
He watched you pick up another fried roll with your chopsticks, your nose wrinkling slightly when it nearly slipped apart before you got it into your mouth.
That made him chuckle. A sound that died in the hollow of his chest, swallowed by the space between his ribs.
God.
He needed this.
Needed the quiet rhythm of it after the last week spent buried in FBI work. The lies. The noise. Too many voices in his ear, too many meetings, too much time spent orbiting Wilson Fisk and his suffocating shadow.
His apartment never helped either. Too quiet and too still. Silence had a way of making his thoughts louder, the walls pressing in until he had to pace just to feel like he still had room to breathe.
But here, things feltâŚÂ normal.
Outside, rain poured weakly past the windshield of Dexâs car.
The wipers had been off for a while now, leaving the glass streaked with dried residue. The heater hummed low near his knees, filling the car with dry warmth and the heavy, layered smell of fried tempura, soy sauce, and burnt coffee that had long gone cold in the cupholder.
Across the street, through the fogged window of the sushi place, you laughed suddenly at something on your phone, leaning forward across the table.
Dex smiled before he could stop himself.
He adjusted the takeout container balanced carefully in his lap before it tipped against the console. The plastic lid was beaded with condensation, the heat of the food fogging it from inside.
Soy sauce packets crowded the cupholder beside the coffee and crinkled napkins were shoved messily near the parking brake.
One dumpling had leaked grease through the paper container onto his slacks minutes ago, a dark stain spreading across the fabric near his knee, but he barely cared.
He hadnât even registered the warmth of it until it had already cooled.
Dex stuffed another piece of sushi into his mouth absently, chewing without tasting, his eyes never leaving you.
The rice was a little dry. The ginger had that sharp, stinging bite that made the back of his throat tighten.
Heâd picked up the order right before you came in, timed it so the food would still be warm when he settled into the driverâs seat.
His monocular rested against his thigh for barely a second before he lifted it again automatically. He settled it back against his socket without thinking, the world snapping into that familiar, compressed clarity.
His pulse eased the moment your face sharpened back into focus.
There she is.
Chin propped lazily into your palm now, reading something intently on your phone. A server passed behind you carrying a tray and even distracted, you looked up at him automatically. Sweet and polite.
Warm in that effortless way that still twisted something painfully tight inside Dexâs chest after all these years.
You gave pieces of yourself away carelessly without even realising it. A smile here. A laugh there. A small wave to a regular who held the door for you.
You never hoarded your warmth. It just spilled out of you, abundant and unguarded, and Dex collected every stray drop like a man dying of thirst.
His thumb moved slowly against the steering wheel, tracing the seam where the leather had begun to crack near the top.
This was exactly what he needed after the week heâd had.
Just you and him.
The thought surfaced without permission, settling somewhere deep behind his sternum. He let it sit there as his hand drifted toward the glove compartment without looking away from you once.
The latch gave with a quiet click, and his fingers found the familiar bundle by touch alone, soft cotton folded neatly in the dark, tucked beside his registration and a crumpled gas receipt.
He drew it carefully into his lap, keeping his eyes fixed on your silhouette through the monocular.
The pale fabric bunched lightly in his fist. The lace trim was cool against his palm, delicate, a detail heâd traced with his fingertips so many times that he could map it blind.
Almost absentmindedly, like a man reaching for a cigarette or rubbing a familiar scar, he brought the stolen panties toward his face and inhaled slowly.
The smell hit him in stages. First the faint, clean scent of your vanilla lotion, the one you applied after every shower. Then the warmer note of your shea body oil, the one you massaged into your elbows and knees before bed.
Beneath that, something warmer and distinctly you, something saline and soft that settled low in his stomach hard enough to make his slacks tighten slightly. A familiar, hungry ache that bloomed behind his fly at just your scent.
He held the breath for a long moment, letting it steep in his lungs, before exhaling through his nose.
A small souvenir heâd rewarded himself four months ago, after letting himself into your new loft late one night to make sure everything was secure.
Youâd forgotten to latch one of the windows facing the fire escape. Careless sweet thing. The lock had been loose, the frame warped slightly from humidity, and when heâd tested it with his fingertips, it had swung open without resistance.
Dex had fixed it for you before leaving. Tightened the screws on the latch, oiled the track, made sure it would hold.
Heâd found the panties in your laundry basket on the way out. A pale blue cotton pair, with a small tear near the waistband that youâd never bothered to mend. Heâd slipped them into his jacket pocket before he could think better of it.
Across the street, you laughed again, shoulders shaking lightly this time, your head tipping back just enough to expose the column of your throat.
He exhaled softly through his nose, smiling along with you like he really was sitting across the table
Just you and him.
That was all he needed.
He didnât know what to think when he saw the newspaper.
For one suspended second, there was nothing. Not anger. Not fear. Not even confusion. Just a sharp, empty stillness, like a pin had dropped somewhere inside his head and every part of him had gone quiet trying to hear where it landed.
Dex had been sitting there for hours, spine rigid, eyes fixed on the bank of screens showing Fiskâs penthouse from every angle. The man himself was visible in one frame, seated at his dining table. Calm and unbothered like always.
Then the paper landed in front of him.
FBI INVESTIGATES ONE OF THEIR OWN.
Agent Kane shifted beside him. âIâm sorry, Dex. This isnât right,â she said quietly.
He heard her voice, but it came from somewhere far away, as if she were speaking through water. The words landed and dissolved.
Dex stared at the headline until the letters stopped being letters and became just shapesâblack ink pressed into pulp, arranged by somebody who didnât know him, didnât care about him, didnât understand anything about what heâd done or why.
The static began to rise. It always started like this, a low hum at the base of his skull, building as the world pressed in.
Around him, the room kept moving. Agents passed behind his chair, their footsteps a rhythmic interruption. Phones rang in overlapping cadences. Somebody laughed too loudly near the elevators, the sound slicing through the air before smearing into everything else, sharp and meaningless.
He could feel them looking at him.
Not directly, none of them were stupid enough to stare. But he felt the glances anyway. The way people looked at car wrecks when they slowed down just enough to see blood but not enough to admit they wanted to.
His jaw tightened. The muscle in his temple pulsed once, twice.
He was being used as a scapegoat.
By the time Winn and Hattley called him into the office, the static had thickened. It filled the room around their fake sympathetic voices.
âWeâre going to find out who leaked this,â Hattley said, leaning forward with that practiced look of concern people used when they wanted to seem human.
Dex looked at her mouth while she spoke.
Not her eyes. Her mouth.
The words were too clean. Too prepared. Every syllable landed exactly where she wanted it to, like sheâd rehearsed this conversation. There was no surprise in her tone, no real outrage. Just a performance of solidarity.
She was lying.
They all were.
The thing inside him stirred, restless and cold. He pressed it down. But it was harder now, when the structure heâd trusted was cracking around him, when the rules heâd followed were being used to crush him.
It had been the Bureau.
They were throwing him under the bus because someone had to bleed publicly, and it was easier if it was him. Easier because he had no wife waiting at home. No kids. No loud, charming friends in the office to make a scene on his behalf.
Easier because he was useful until he wasnât, precise until precision made them uncomfortable, disciplined until discipline stopped protecting him from becoming disposable.
After everything, they were disposing of him.
If he followed the rules, he could be normal. He could be safe. Everyone else could be safe.
But the rules had just thrown him away.
âThink of it as a paid vacation,â Hattley said, offering a thin smile that didnât reach her eyes.
The static in his skull sharpened.
Dex looked down at his badge before he realised heâd already taken it off.
He didnât remember doing it. His fingers had moved on their own, undoing the clip, sliding the leather folder from his belt.
Now it sat in his palm like something foreign, the gold shield winking at him tauntingly.
His hand didnât feel like his own when he set it on the desk. The leather made a soft, final sound against the wood. Then the gun. The weight of it leaving him felt wrong in a way that made his stomach tighten sharply.
Badge. Gun. Credentials.
Structure.
Mercerâs voice rose in his head before he could stop it.
Get a job with structure, Dex. Rigid structure. Stay disciplined. Stay useful. Routine is important for you.
Routine. Rules. The job gave him rules. Rules told him what to do. Rules made the edges of the world sharp enough to hold onto. Without them, everything blurred.
Everything bled into everything else. The thing inside him pushed against its cage like an animal scenting an open door.
And now they were taking it away from him like it was nothing.
By the time he reached the hall, the migraine had settled behind his right eye, hot and pulsing. It pressed against his optic nerve, sending thin spokes of light across his vision.
Nausea turned slowly in his stomach, a greasy, rolling sensation that made his throat tighten.
He was aware of his body in pieces. His pulse hammering in his wrists, too fast. Sweat cooling under his collar, the fabric damp and clammy against his neck. The empty space at his hip where his gun should have been.
Empty.
Empty.
Empty.
By the time he stepped back out into the hall, the Bureau felt wrong around him. Hostile in a way it hadnât ten minutes ago.
But the air had changed. It pressed against him differently now, thick and heavy, as if the building itself had decided he didnât belong here anymore.
He walked past an agent heâd worked with for two years. The man met his eyes, then looked away.
Dexâs fingers twitched at his sides.
None of it belonged to him anymore.
Or he didnât belong to it.
The job was gone. The badge was gone. The rules were gone. And without them, he felt himself starting to come apart at the seams, the threads that held him together snapping one by one.
His breathing thinned. Too shallow. Too fast. The edges of his vision began to grey, just slightly, like someone was turning down the lights from far away.
He needed out.
He needed air.
No.
Not air.
You.
He needed to see you. Now.
The thought cut through the static like a blade. A fixed point in the chaos.
Dex looked down at his watch.
6:17 p.m.
Thursday.
You did your grocery shopping on Thursdays after work because you hated weekend crowds. End of the week, but not the weekend. Practical. Smart.
Sometimes you bought tulips even though you worked at a florist and could probably get better ones for free.
He had never understood that.
He loved that he didnât understand that.
The Bureau, Hattley, Winn, Fisk, the paper, the headline, the badge sitting on that desk like a dead thing. None of it mattered. Not right now.
Not when his mind was splitting open and the only thought holding him together was the image of you standing under grocery-store fluorescents.
He turned before heâd fully decided to move.
His feet carried him toward the elevator. Each step felt like pushing through water. The walls of the hallway seemed to close in, then expand, breathing with him.
By the time he reached the elevator and pressed the button, his jaw ached from clenching. His hands were steady, but only because he had trained them to be.
Inside, everything was coming apart in small, quiet pieces. Like a dam with a thousand tiny cracks, water seeping through each one, the whole structure holding only by habit and memory.
That was fine.
He didnât need the badge.
He didnât need their rules.
He had you.
The drive from the bureau to the grocery store did nothing to settle the storm clawing through Dexâs chest.
His palms were slick against his slacks. Heâd just walked in. Empty-handed. Bereft of purpose beyond the single, desperate need screaming through every nerve ending in his body.
Find her. Find her. Find her.
The automatic doors hissed shut behind him, sealing him inside a world of too-bright lights and Muzak and the sharp chemical sweetness of floor cleaner.
His tie felt like it had shrunk two sizes since heâd left the Bureau, the knot pressing against his throat like a noose. He tugged at it once, twice, but it only made it tighter.
The migraine was still there, settled between his eyes like a hot coal. It pulsed in time with his heartbeat, a steady, throbbing pressure that made the aisles seem to swim when he moved his head too fast.
And Mercerâs voice.
She was there, in the back of his skull, the way she always was when things got bad. But today she wasnât the steady, grounding presence he remembered.
Her voice flickered and warped, sliding between registers like a broken radio.
Stay calm, Dex. Breathe. Youâre okay.
Then, lower, twisted. Freak. Look at you. They threw you away because they saw it. They knew what you were.
His fingers twitched at his sides.
You were supposed to be better than this. All that discipline. And you canât evenâ
âShut up,â he muttered under his breath, but the words came out wrong, too loud, and a woman passing with a toddler shot him a strange look.
He didnât care.
He checked the endcaps, the seasonal displays, the little stand with flowers near the entrance because you liked stopping there.
You werenât there.
His breathing got thinner, shallower, each inhale less satisfying than the last. A tightness gathered behind his eyes, hot and humiliating, frustration swelling so quickly it scared him.
Not here. Not here. Notâ
He crossed the store, his shoes squeaking on the polished floor. He passed a man in a dark coat who frowned at him. He ignored him. He rounded the corner into the makeup aisle and his chest seized.
Empty.
The shelves stretched out before him, neat rows of bottles and tubes and compacts reflecting the harsh light. A woman stood at the far end, examining a lipstick, but she had different hair. Wrong. Wrong. Wrong.
The frustration crested, crested, broke.
Tears pricked at his eyes, and he blinked furiously against them. His throat closed. His hands shook.
This was stupid.
This wasâ
Where the hell are you?
He pressed the heels of his palms against his eyes until he saw stars. The pressure helped, briefly, grounding him in pain instead of panic. He counted to ten. Then to twenty.
He breathed in through his nose, out through his mouth, the way Mercer had taught him when he was thirteen and didnât know how to exist without breaking things.
In through the nose. Out through the mouth. Youâre in control, Dex. Youâre always in control.
But the voice was quiet now, drowned out by the static.
He dropped his hands and looked up.
There.
The fruit and vegetable aisle. Eight feet away. Your back.
And everything stopped.
The world snapped into focus like a lens being adjusted. The lights dimmed to something bearable. The buzzing of the fluorescents faded to a dull hum.
A shock ran through his system, ice-cold and bracing, like being splashed with water in the middle of a fever dream.
His throat worked. He swallowed once, twice.
He dragged his eyes up, angry at himself and not angry at all. Angry that he couldnât just walk up to you, couldnât just be normal, couldnât justâ
His hands were still shaking.
His chest was still tight.
His breathing was still too shallow, too fast, each inhale catching on something sharp lodged in his lungs.
He was still falling apart, and you were right there, six feet away, squeezing pears and humming to music he couldnât hear, and he couldnât calm down.
The realisation hit him like a fist to his throat.
If he couldnât pull himself together now, if he couldnât drag his shattered pieces back into something resembling a whole person, he was going to have a full mental breakdown with you a few steps away from him.
He couldnât let that happen.
He couldnât.
He stood at the end of the aisle, frozen, his hands hanging uselessly at his sides, his heart hammering against his ribs, his eyes fixed on the curve of your spine and the gentle sway of your hips as you moved down the display.
And for a long, terrible moment, he didnât know what to do.
The word nectarines repeated in his skull like a lifeline.
He didnât know why that particular fruit had caught his attentionâmaybe because they were closest, maybe because they were red and blushing and reminded him of the colour your lips had been at the diner.
It didnât matter. He grabbed one, then another, turning them over in his trembling hands pretending to inspect them.
Three steps away. You were three steps away.
Dexâs shoe scuffed against the linoleum as he adjusted his stance, positioning himself so he could see you in his peripheral vision without turning his head.
Look at something else. Let your eyes find the target naturally. But his eyes werenât listening.
They kept sliding back to you, hungry and helpless, drinking in the curve of your hip where your sweatpants rode low.
He could smell you.
EstĂŠe Lauder. Beautiful Magnolia.
He knew the scent because heâd bought a bottle once, from a department store in Midtown, just to understand what it was that clung to your clothes and lingered in the air long after youâd passed.
Heâd sprayed it on his pillow that night and buried his face in the fabric, breathing you in until the noise in his head quieted to a hum.
He inhaled now, deep and long, hoping it would do the same.
It didnât.
His hands were still shaking. He could see the tremors as he turned a nectarine over, the fruit wobbling in his grip like heâd never held anything in his life.
Just breathe, Dex, Mercer whispered, but her voice was thin, frayed, like a recording stretched to breaking.
We donât know how this got out, Hattleyâs voice cut in, smooth and false, dripping with pity. Weâre going to find out who leaked this.
His jaw clenched so hard his teeth ached.
He wanted to hit something. Wanted to drive his fist into the display of nectarines, into the wall, into his own skull if it would make them stop.
Stop. Stop. Stop.
He tried to focus on you. On the sound of your breathing. On the fact that this was the closest heâd been to you in years.
But nothing helped.
The voices swelled. The migraine throbbed. His hands shook. His chest constricted. And he was drowning, drowning, drowning in the fluorescent light of a grocery storeâ
âExcuse me.â
The world snapped into silence.
Dexâs head shot up so fast his neck cracked. His eyes found yours, and everything in him locked up like a circuit breaker tripping. You were looking at him.
He stared.
He blinked.
He opened his mouth, but nothing came out.
The silence stretched, and your smile tightened at the edges, just slightly. You cleared your throat, shifting your weight, the picture of casual confidence.
âI donât know if this is gonna sound a bit creepy,â you said, and your voice was smooth, rolling, the same voice heâd heard a thousand times in his memory, âbut do I know you?â
His heart stopped.
Then restarted at double speed.
Say something. Say something normal. Say something human.
âIââ He cleared his throat. The sound was raw, scraping. He forced a smile onto his face, âI donât think so.â
You tilted your head, studying him. âNo, I do.â
There was no room for argument in your voice. No uncertainty.
He tilted his head, mirroring you. Let his eyes narrow slightly, as if he were searching his memory.
As if he didnât have every moment heâd ever seen you catalogued and cross-referenced in his mind.
As if he wasnât memorising the way the light caught in your hair, the faint sheen of gloss on your lips, the tiny beauty mark just above your collarbone.
You snapped your fingers, before pointing to yourself. âI used to work at this diner a few years ago. I donât know if you know itâBel Air Diner, maybe?â
He let the pause hang. Let his brow furrow. Let himself pretend, when all he wanted to do was reach out and touch you to make sure you were real.
âBushwick?â he said finally, his voice steadier than he felt.
Your eyes lit up, and the sensation of seeing that, of being the cause of that light, was like injecting ecstasy straight into his veins.
âYeah!â You nodded, your smile widening into something that crinkled the corners of your eyes. âThe one on the corner of 9th Ave. Thatâs the one.â
Dexâs breath caught. He swallowed, trying to find his footing, trying to remember how to be a regular person, having a conversation with a woman who had no idea that she was the only thing that had kept him from falling apart for years.
âYeah,â he said, and his voice cracked on the word. âYeah, I remember.â
âBut you donât remember me?â
Dex blinked at you, the words landing like a slap he didnât see coming.
For a long, terrible second, his brain seized, caught between the instinct to apologise and the dawning realisation that you were teasing him.
You were teasing him.
The corners of your mouth curved, and there it was, a glint in your eye, a playful tilt to your chin that heâd never seen before.
Not in all the hours heâd spent watching you. You were straightforward. Bold.
In his head, you were soft. Sweet. A little shy, maybe, the way youâd duck your head when a customer thanked you, the way youâd bite your lip when you were concentrating on an arrangement.
Heâd built a version of you that was gentle and malleable, a fantasy that existed to be consumed, not to talk back.
âIâm kidding,â you said, after his silence stretched a beat too long. Like you could see him drowning and had thrown him a line.
He hated himself.
The feeling was familiar, worn smooth by years of repetition, but this was a fresh, raw kind of hatred that made his palms itch.
The Dex in his mind, the one heâd imagined a thousand times, would have had a smooth response ready. Would have leaned against the display, flashed a grin, said something that made you laugh.
That Dex was charming. That Dex was normal.
But that Dex wasnât real. And the real Dex was standing here, sweat beading at his temples, hands shaking.
He scrambled, forcing a smile onto his face that he hoped read as charming rather than manic.
âNo, no.â His voice came out too quick, too eager. He reined it in, softened his tone. âI do remember you now. Iâm just surprised you remember me.â
You tilted your head smiling, and the movement pushed the apples of your cheeks up. God, you were beautiful.
âCan never forget a handsome face,â you said.
Handsome. She said handsome. Sheâs flirting with you. Thatâs what this is. Say something back. This is how it works. So do it.
But his brain was a white-noise void, every thought scattering like roaches in harsh light.
His smile felt brittle on his face, but he held it there, hoping you couldnât see how badly his hands were shaking.
âThank you,â he managed, and the words came out rough, almost shy.
He shifted the nectarine to his other hand, wiping his palm against his slacks in a motion he hoped looked casual. Then extended his hand.
âDex.â
You smiled and told him your name. Like he didnât already know it. Like he hadnât whispered it into the dark of his apartment with his fist wrapped around his cock, gasping it into his pillow like a prayer.
Your hand slid into his.
The contact was electric. Your skin was warm, soft, impossibly real against his calloused palm.
He had to stop himself from closing his eyes, from letting the sensation wash over him and drown him.
Every nerve in his body screamed at him to pull you closer, to bring your hand to his mouth and press his lips to your knuckles, to your wrist, to the delicate skin where your pulse beat just beneath the surface.
Instead, he shook your hand once, twice, like a normal person, and let go before he did something he couldnât take back.
âSo, Dex,â you said, drawing his name out just slightly, testing it, like you were deciding whether you liked the way it felt on your tongue.
You had no idea heâd been waiting to hear you say it for years.
âWhat brings you to the supermarket atââ you glanced at your phone, then back at him, a small smile playing at your lips, ââseven pm on a Thursday.â
Simple question. Normal question. The kind of question one person asked another when they wanted to keep a conversation alive, when they wanted to prolong it.
And you hadnât even seemed to notice that he had no shopping cart. No basket.
Just himself, standing here in the produce aisle like a man whoâd wandered in off the street with no purpose other than to stare at fruit he had no intention of buying.
There was no way he could tell you the truth. That just hours ago heâd been framed by the FBI, scapegoated for an ambush heâd had no part in, cast out of the only identity heâd ever known.
That heâd spent the last hour spiraling in his car, hallucinating voices, pressing a gun to his own jaw before forcing it back into the glove compartment.
That heâd driven here not for groceries, but because your Thursday evening routine was the only fixed point left in his collapsing world.
He couldnât say any of that.
So he said the first plausible thing that surfaced from the scrambled mess of his brain.
âEnd of the week,â he heard himself say instead. The words came out rough, but he pushed through. âBut way less crowded on weekends.â
You raised your brows, a hint of a smile tugging at your lips. âSo I guess Iâm not original at all, huh?â
You were making a joke, and heâd walked right into it and now he was supposed to respond. Laugh. A laugh would be normal. People laughed at jokes. That was the expected behavior. He should laugh.
He made a sound that was supposed to be a chuckle but came out more like a choked exhale, his lips stretching into a smile that felt too wide, too stiff.
âGreat minds think alike, I guess.â He tried for laid-back, tried to make his shoulders relax, but they stayed hunched, like he was bracing for impact.
You tilted your head, just slightly, and hummed in agreement.
And then there was a pause.
A little one, at first. The kind of pause that happens naturally in conversation, where one person waits for the other to speak next.
But it stretched. It grew. It filled the space between you like something physical, and Dex felt it pressing against his chest, tightening around his throat.
Say something. Sheâs waiting. She gave you an opening and now youâre letting it die.
But his mind was a blank wall.
He cleared his throat, the sound rough and too loud in the quiet aisle. âSo, uhââ He glanced down at the nectarine in his hand, then back up at you. âYou come here often?â
The words landed and he wanted to die. You come here often? That was the line heâd pulled from his brain.
The most generic, clichĂŠ, forgettable question in the history of human interaction. The kind of thing a mannequin would say if it were programmed to simulate human speech.
He braced for the look. The one that would say really? delivered with a curl of the lip, a shift of weight away from him. Heâd seen that look on womenâs faces before, when a man tried too hard or said the wrong thing.
So when you let out a laugh, genuine and surprised, it hit him like a punch to the chest.
You were laughing. At him, maybe, but not at him. With him. Like you found him funny, endearing even. Like his awkwardness wasnât a turn-off but a joke you were both in on.
Dex felt his face go warm. He rubbed his brow, a nervous tick he couldnât control, the heel of his hand pressing against his forehead as if he could massage away the embarrassment.
âYeah, I heard it when I said it,â he murmured, almost to himself. âSorryâŚâ
He risked a glance at you through his fingers, and you were looking at him with an expression he didnât recognise.
You looked like you were trying not to smile and failing, the corners of your mouth twitching upward.
His heart was hammering so hard he felt it in his throat, in his temples, in the tips of his fingers.
âIâll give you a pass for now,â you said, a smile breaking through fully now.
Dexâs mouth opened. Closed. Opened again.
Nothing came out.
He swallowed hard, his throat clicking. âThanks,â he said again , the word barely above a whisper. âIâIâll try to do better next time.â
You raised your brows again, but your smile didnât shift. In fact, it seemed to deepen, the corners of your mouth curling with delight. âNext time?â
The question hung in the air, but to Dex it felt like a tightrope. One wrong step and heâd plummet.
He hoped to God you couldnât see the sheen of sweat beading on his forehead, the way his pulse was visibly jumping in his throat.
Adapt. You have to adapt. Sheâs smooth, sheâs quick, sheâs going to eat you alive if you donât keep up.
He forced his mouth into something resembling a smile, though it felt more like a grimace on the way up. âYouâre the one who said for now.â
And thatâs how Dex ended up with your number.
Thirty minutes earlier, Dex had been sitting in his car, the engine off. His spare gun had been in his lap, cold and heavy.
Heâd pressed the muzzle against the soft skin under his chin, felt the metal dig in, tasted the copper of a future heâd almost chosen.
His career. His structure. His livelihood. His reputation. All of it gone, stripped away in a single afternoon by people whoâd used him and discarded him like a broken tool.
One pull. Thatâs all it would have taken.
Now, driving home, the streets of New York blurring past his windshield in streaks of neon and headlights, Dex felt something he couldnât name.
It wasnât relief, exactlyâthe weight of what heâd almost done was still there.
But it was layered over with something else, something bright and unfamiliar, like sunlight breaking through clouds after a storm.
He kept glancing at his phone. It sat in the cupholder, screen dark, but he could feel it like a beacon. Your number.Â
Your number, given willingly, freely, without coercion or manipulation.
The thought made his chest ache, a dull, insistent pressure behind his ribs. He flexed his hands on the steering wheel, and let out a breath that was half-laugh, half-sob.
It was a high heâd never experienced before. And he was terrified of coming down.
He pulled into the parking lot of his apartment building, cut the engine, and sat there for a long moment, staring at his phone. The screen was dark, but he could still see your face, the memory of your smile burned into his eyelids.
And then his phone buzzed.
The screen lit up with a number he didnât recognise, but the area code was familiar. New York. Manhattan.
He stared at it for three rings. Four. Five.
His thumb hovered over the decline button, but something made him pause. Something cold and familiar, settling in his gut like a stone.
He answered, âHello.â
âWhen I was a boyâŚâ
His skin wasnât buzzing.
It was flaying itself from the bone, a high-frequency current ripping through every nerve ending until he couldnât tell where the violence ended and his own body began.
The climb back through his window was a smear of pure sensation, the groan of the frame digging into his bruised ribs, the distant wail of a siren that might have been real or might have just been the echo of the screams still ricocheting inside his skull.
He tumbled into the living room, the red suit clinging to him like a second skin of sin and sweat, and the silence of his apartment hit him like a physical blow.
He spared a blank look at the microwave. 2:37 AM.
The high was curdling. The exquisite, crystalline purpose Fisk had injected into his veins was souring into a dense, suffocating fog.
The voices in his head were warping and overlapping, layered with the fresh screams of the people heâd just killed.
They werenât separate voices anymore. They were a single, roaring static that made his skull feel too small for his brain.
He fumbled at the gloves, his fingers clumsy and uncoordinated, tearing at the constricting seams.
The helmet followed. The seal broke with a soft hiss of trapped breath, and the cool night air of the apartment hit the raw cuts on his cheekbone and split lip like a strip of litmus paper.
He wasnât in control. He was a passenger, a ghost haunting a machine made of meat and bone.
The machine moved on autopilot, carrying him across the sticky floor through the debris of his life, toward his closet. His safe.
His fingers knew the combination better than his conscious mind. Beep. Beep. Beep. The door swung open.
Mercerâs tapes.
He reached for them, his fingers brushing the familiar edges, and he could already hear her voice in his memory. She would fix this.
She would rebuild the walls, draw the clean lines of the diagram, soothe the static into structured silence.
He paused.
The tapes felt dead in his hand. Cold. Alien. The thing inside him, that had killed tonight with a terrifyingly genuine grin splitting his face under the mask, revolted.
Structure was a cage. Control was a lie he told himself so he didnât have to look at the abyss. Mercerâs voice was the voice of a woman who had never existed, a blueprint for a life he had never actually lived.
He didnât want to be fixed tonight.
He wanted to be real.
He set the tapes down. The plastic clattered against the wood shelf, and the sound was a door slamming shut on his old self.
His body, no longer his to command, drifted to the phone on the nightstand. The screen was a blinding star in the gloom of his apartment.
Before he could rationalise the catastrophic stupidity of it, his thumb pressed the call button.
The phone pressed against his ear. The flat, electric hum of the dial tone filled his head.
First ring. A knife.Â
Second ring. His breathing turned ragged, harsh stabs of air in and out. He couldnât control it.
His hand shook, the tremors traveling up his arm to his chest, making his heart rattle against his ribs.
Third ring. Where the fuck were you? The thought was a claw in his chest, desperate and raw, scratched out from the bottom of his fractured soul.Â
Fourth ring. Despair hit him like a bullet. The rejection he deserved. The silence he was born for.
His thumb was already moving to sever the connection, to retreat into the familiar dark, to let Mercer be the only voice he ever heard again.
The click.
A breath on the other end. The soft rustle of sheets. The sound of someone shifting out of sleep, pulling themselves back to consciousness for him.
A voice, sleepy and warm, cutting through the static in his soul.
âHello?â
He opened his mouth to respond, but nothing came out. His throat had sealed itself shut, his tongue a dead weight.
The buzzing in his head didnât stop, it changed, shifting from static into a high, thin whine of pure panic.
What the fuck was he doing?
He should hang up. He should hang up right now, pretend this never happened, crawl back to the tapes and let Mercer stitch him back together.
But he didnât move.
ââŚhello?â
Your voice again. Groggy, yes, but there was an edge now. Caution. Awareness creeping in.
He could picture you propping yourself up on an elbow, squinting at the phone, trying to place the unknown number glowing in the dark.
He cleared his throat.
âHi. Itâs Dex.â
Silence. Long enough that he felt his stomach drop through the floor.
âFrom the grocery store,â he added, stupidly. âEarlier today.â
More silence. He counted the seconds. One. Two. Three. His heart was a jackhammer against his ribs, and he was suddenly, acutely aware of how insane this looked.
He had your number for less than twelve hours. He had called you at 2:37 AM. There was no version of this that didnât make him seem unhinged.
Then your voice came through, softer now, a hint of recognition bleeding through the drowsiness.
âOh. Guy from the fruit aisle.â
The words were flat, stripped of the teasing lilt from earlier. He winced. He was an idiot.
But he couldnât hang up either.
âYeah,â he said, and his voice cracked on the single syllable. He cleared his throat again, harder this time. âSorry. I know itâs late. Iââ
He stopped. Ran a hand through his damp, tangled hair. The words werenât coming. They never came when he needed them. âI couldnât sleep.â
A beat. Then, âYou call everyone you meet at the grocery store when you canât sleep?â
There it was. The faintest edge of something, not quite playfulness, but not hostility either. A testing of the waters. He latched onto it like a drowning man grabbing a rope.
âNo,â he said, and the honesty slipped out before he could stop it. âJust you apparently.â
The silence that followed was different. Softer. He could hear the rustle of fabric on your end, like you were shifting, settling deeper into the conversation.
âYouâre weird, you know that?â you said, but your voice had lost its wariness. There was a thread of amusement in it now.
âI know,â he said. He didnât even try to deny it.
He could have left it there. Could have apologised again, said goodnight, let you go back to sleep.
But the buzzing in his head was quieter now, drowned out by the sound of your breathing on the other end of the line.
âI was wondering,â he started, and his mouth went dry again. He pushed through it. âIf youâre free tomorrow. Or, I guess, today now. For dinner.â
The words came out rushed, jumbled together like he was afraid heâd lose his nerve if he didnât get them all out at once.
He squeezed his eyes shut, waiting for the rejection.
Another long pause. Then, a soft, breathy sound that might have been a laugh.
âYouâre asking me out at three in the morning?â
âDepends on if you say yes,â he said, and the words surprised him. They were smoother than heâd intended, a sliver of confidence he didnât know he possessed.
Your laugh came through fully this time, quiet and warm, and something in his chest cracked open.
âThatâs a good line,â you said. âYou rehearse that?â
âNo,â he admitted. âIâm kind of making this up as I go.â
âPretty good for improv.â
He felt the corner of his mouth twitch, almost a smile. âDoes that mean youâll say yes?â
A beat. Then, âDepends on what youâre offering.â
He let out a breath he didnât realise heâd been holding. His fingers tightened on the phone, grounding himself in the plastic and the warmth of your voice.
âAnything you want,â he said. And he meant it.
Dex prided himself on focus.
It was the cleanest thing he had, the discipline that held the loose pieces of him together. But here, across the table from you, that focus was a dead wire. Useless.
Ten minutes in and he still couldnât land anywhere. His eyes kept skirting, from the deep crimson painted across your mouth to the sharp neckline of that tight black dress, down to where the fabric pulled across your chest.
He felt the heat crawl up the back of his neck, forced himself to your eyes instead. The dark liner made them bottomless, pulling at him with every slow blink.
His body was wired tight, locked up like he was bracing for impact. Every breath measured. Every movement too careful.
Terrified of the wrong word, the wrong look, shattering whatever luck had gotten you here.
You took a sip of your wine, watching him over the rim. Then you tilted your head, a smile catching at the corner of your mouth.
âRelax. Youâre sitting like Iâm gonna jump over this table and bite you.â
The image slid under his skin before he could stop it.
Iâd let you, he thought. Anywhere you wanted.
He locked that down, managed a rough chuckle. âStill canât wrap my head around why you said yes.â
You shrugged, setting the glass down. âGot nothing better to do. Thought I might as well get a free meal with a hot guy.â
Hot. You called him hot.Â
Then your eyes narrowed. âUnless youâre one of those guys who believe in fifty-fifty for the first date.â
The question caught him off guard. For a second, he just stared at you, his brain struggling to catch up. Then he let out a choked laugh, shaking his head quickly.
âNo. No, god, no. I promise.â
âGood.â
Your voice softened into something warm, teasing. You leaned back in your chair, swirling the wine in your glass, and the candlelight caught the curve of your smile.
The waiter appeared and Dex grabbed the menu like a lifeline, staring at the words without reading them.
He nodded when you ordered, asked for the same thing. When the waiter left, you leaned forward, elbows on the table.
The neckline of your dress dipped just slightly, and he caught the black lace underneath.
Fuck. Were you doing this on purpose?
âSo, Dex from the fruit aisle.â Your voice had dropped, stripped of the teasing edge from earlier. Something warmer now. âTell me something about yourself.â
His stomach dropped. Just a flash. He pushed it down.
âIâm an FBI agent,â he said. Safe. Simple enough. âOrâwas. Itâs complicated.â
You raised an eyebrow. âComplicated how?â
âThe kind that makes for a bad first date story.â He tried to smile. It came out crooked.
You laughed, and the sound loosened something tight in his chest. âFair enough. Iâll take a rain check.â
He nodded, scrambling for footing. âWhat do you do?â
You rolled your eyes and he felt a flicker of panic before you huffed, amused. âJust a florist. Completely boring compared to chasing bad guys, Iâm sure.â
Thereâs nothing boring about you. The thought hit him hard and fast, and he heard himself say it out loud before his brain could catch up. âThereâs nothing boring about you.â
You let out a small laugh. âSo you do know how to sweet talk a girl.â
He couldnât hide the blush that crawled up his neck to his ears, burning against the collar of his shirt. âIâm just saying it how I see it.â
âMaybe,â you hummed, âbut then again you donât know anything about me.â
Never had he heard a more untrue statement in his life.Â
He knew your schedule. Your favourite coffee order. Your comfort shows you loved to binge. Which soap you preferred. Your go to nail colour. How you liked cats and dogs equally.
But he couldnât say that. So he just looked at you across the table, watched the candlelight catch your eyes.
The food arrived. Steam rose from the plates between them, the scent of ginger and soy cutting through the moment. The waiter said something he didnât catch.
âWell,â Dex murmured, âIâm hoping to learn if youâll let me.â
Being here with you was something he had never experienced before.
The night before was a smear of violence but it all felt muted now, distant, like a transmission he couldnât tune into anymore.
Not with you across the table, your voice cutting through the static in his head.
You kept the conversation easy. When he fumbled an answer or went quiet because his brain short-circuited trying to keep up with you, you didnât pull back. You just smiled, shifted, let him find his footing again.
Once or twice he found himself wondering why you were even giving him a chance. You could have anyone. Smarter, smoother, someone without the weight he carried.
It made no sense that youâd picked him. Not that heâd let anyone else close enough to try, but the thought still lingered.
Still, there was a weight pressing down on him the whole time. A clock ticking. He felt it sharpest as the check arrived. Signing it, his stomach twisted into a knot so tight it made him nauseous.
The thought of leaving, of stepping into the cold air alone and watching you walk away, hollowed him out.
He could already feel the emptiness waiting. Maybe heâd just follow you home. Watch you through your window. It would be enough to comfort him.
âHow are you getting home?â The words came out before he could stop them.
âWalked here,â you said, pulling out your lipstick. âGuess Iâll do the same.â
He watched your mouth as you reapplied it, the careful, practiced stroke of colour. He couldnât look away.
âLet me drive you.â
You paused, the compact half-closed. Your eyes lifted to his, and he could see you weighing it, the stranger across from you, the risk of letting him know where you lived. The silence stretched. He felt the whole night teetering.
Fuck. Heâd done too much. He ruined it. Heâd pushed too hard, too fast, and nowâ
âOkay.â
It hit him somewhere between the Williamsburg Bridge and the mouth of your street, a strange hollow equation he couldnât solve.
Away from you, the restlessness ate at him, he couldnât settle, couldnât quiet the noise inside his head.
But here, with you in the passenger seat, so close he could feel the warmth coming off your skin through the space between them, he wasnât any better. His body was locked tight, every muscle braced for a mistake he hadnât made yet.
He couldnât stop glancing at you while he drove.
His hands were rigid on the steering wheel, knuckles pale in the passing streetlight. You leaned back in the seat, your head tilted, completely relaxed, watching the city slide past the window.
No tension in your shoulders. No flicker of anxiety. Just calm. It made him feel transparent, like you could see every loose wire and frayed thread in his head.
By the time he pulled up outside your building, his heart was beating so hard he could feel it in his throat, a quick, raw pulse that wouldnât steady.
How had this happened so fast? Heâd spent years wanting you, fantasising about you from a distance, and now that you were here, the wanting had twisted into a kind of fear.
The fear of doing something wrong. Of saying the wrong thing. Of breaking whatever fragile spell had let him into your space tonight.
You turned toward him. Your expression was different now. At dinner, your eyes had been sharp, playful, like a vixen toying with her prey.
But here, in the dim lamplight bleeding through the windshield, your lashes fluttered against your cheeks, and your gaze was wider, softer, something he didnât have a name for.
âI had a good night,â you murmured.
Dex opened his mouth. His tongue felt thick, useless. âMe too.â It came out pitiful, barely a whisper.
You kept looking at him, waiting. Your lashes lowered, then lifted, like an invitation he couldnât decode.
He stared back, frozen. Should he get out? Open your door? Walk you inside? He had no script for this, no smooth line rehearsed. His eyes drifted from yours to your parted lips. Red. Soft.
He was still scrambling through the noise in his head for the right move when your hand moved. It slid up the back of his head, fingers threading gently into his hair.
Before he could react, before his brain could catch up, you were pulling him forward.
Your lips met his.
For a long, heavy beat, Dex didnât move.
His body locked up completely as the reality of your mouth sank in. You were kissing him. The thought cracked through the static in his brain like lightning. You. Kissing him.
Then instinct took over before he could wreck it. His lips started moving, awkward and unpracticed, trailing behind the rhythm you set.
A shaky breath left him, his shoulders dropping a fraction as he relaxed into the warmth of your mouth, the simple unimaginable fact of it.
Until he felt the wet tip of your tongue brush his bottom lip.
He tensed immediately. His eyes cracked open, found yours closed, your face slack and completely lost in it. He parted his lips. Let you in.
The second your tongues met, a raw sound caught in his throat. His cock hardened painfully behind his zipper, a rush of blood that made everything else go distant.
The taste of you flooded his senses, faintly sweet, the slick slide of your tongue against his. His brain went quiet for the first time all night.
Then something inside him snapped.
The careful, terrified version of himself fell away. He had to touch you. Now.
He pulled his hand off the wheel, lifted it. Fingers spread, hesitated. Your hair? Your waist? Your cheek? He had no idea what he was doing. Every option felt wrong, but doing nothing was unthinkable.
His palm landed on your throat before he could decide.
His fingers curved around the column of your neck, thumb settling against the flutter of your pulse. You moaned into his mouth, pleased and approving, and the sound shot straight through his chest. You liked it.
He pushed harder against your mouth, greedier. The hand on your throat tightened fractionally, pulling you closer across the console.
He didnât care about breathing anymore.
The taste of you flooded every nerve in his body like a drug heâd been starving for his whole life. Heâd rather suffocate against your mouth than take another clean breath of empty air.
Your hands found his jaw, and for a split second his brain screamed that you were pushing him away. Too rough. Too fast. He ruined it.Â
His grip started to loosen, a fresh wave of shame crawling up his throatâ
But your fingers dug into his skin and pulled him closer.
The sound that left him was raw, almost animal. Relief and hunger tangled together as you yanked him deeper into the kiss.
Little noises escaped your mouth, muffled against his tongue, and he tried to memorise each one even as he lost himself in the wet slide of your lips.
His hand slid from your throat to your jaw, fingers curling around the bone, tilting your head back as he pushed further into your mouth.
His tongue swept against yours, messy and desperate. He didnât know what he was doing, he just knew he needed more. He wanted to crawl inside your skin.
Then your palms pressed flat against his chest.
Push.
The separation hit him like cold water. He broke away gasping, and his mouth chased yours before he could stop himself. But you didnât pull further back.
You caught his lips in soft, quick pecks, barely there, just enough to soothe the ache youâd left behind.
Your mouth brushed against his when you spoke, voice low and rough.
âDo you wanna come up?â
Fuck.Â
The words hit him square in the chest, then dropped lower, settling hot and heavy in his gut. He was already nodding before his brain caught up, pupils blown wide, lips wet and swollen.
âYeah,â he breathed against your mouth, âYeah. Fuckâyes.â
Dexâs pulse slammed against his ribs the second the lock clicked behind him.
Standing in your apartment. He forced his eyes to wander like he was stepping in here for the first time, even as his brain catalogued every detail against the map heâd already burned into his memory.
âNice place.â The words scraped out of him, rough and distracted.
He tilted his head at the bookshelf, the framed photograph he knew was your mother, the throw blanket draped over the armchair that heâd watched you buy from a street vendor three months ago.
Every careful glance was a lie, but he wore it like a second skin.
âThanks.â Your voice came from right behind him.
Then your hands were on him again, sliding over his shoulders, turning him around. He went without resistance, boneless under your touch. You pulled him down and met his lips halfway.
Your tongue pushed past his lips and he opened for you like a starving thing.
Your fingers twisted into his hair, yanking his head forward just enough to deepen the angle, and he let you. Heâd let you do anything.
You bit his bottom lip, sucked it into your mouth, and his hips jerked forward involuntarily.
His hands began to move. Everywhere. Your waist, the dip of your spine, the swell of your hips.
He grabbed desperate handfuls of your ass, pulling you flush against him, and the heat of your body through that thin dress made his head spin.
You were soft in ways heâd only ever imagined, and his imagination had been thorough, but nothing prepared him for the reality of you pressed against his aching body. He wanted to touch every part of you at once, to map you entirely.
You broke the kiss first, panting, lips slick and swollen. Your forehead rested against his, your breath hot and uneven on his mouth. âI donât do this often,â you murmured, the confession raw and almost shy.
âI know,â he breathed without thinking.
The second the words left him, he felt you stiffen. You pulled back, confusion knitting your brows. âWhat do you mean, you know?â
Dexâs stomach dropped into freefall.
His eyes snapped open, panic flooding his veins.Â
Fuck. Fuck.Â
He scrambled for a lifeline, his mouth opening and closing before the lie managed to crawl out. âI mean IâI know what you mean. Me too. I donâtâI donât do this often either.â
You held his gaze for a long moment. The sharpness in your eyes softened, and you snorted, a puff of warm breath against his lips. âYouâre so weird.â
Relief flooded him so fast it made him dizzy. Before he could dwell on it, you were kissing him again, swallowing whatever fragile composure he had left.
Your hands guided him backwards. He followed blindly, drunk on your mouth, stumbling until the back of his knees hit something soft. You shoved him. Hard.
He landed on the couch with a grunt, bouncing once before settling, looking up at you with wide, dazed eyes.
Before he could ask, you leaned down, bracing your hands on his knees, and kissed him again. Slow and deep, a thorough occupation of his mouth that erased every thought trying to surface.
He melted into it, his hands finding your thighs, stroking the warm skin exposed by the hem of your dress.
You broke the kiss gently, pulling back just enough that he could see you.
You were on her knees. Between his legs. Looking up at him through your lashes, your lipstick smudged, your hair loose around your face.
The sight of you there stole the air from his lungs.
âWhatâwhat are you doing?â Dex heard himself ask, his voice thin and wrecked, stripped of every layer he hid behind.
You smiled as your hands slid up his thighs, fingers pressing into the muscle.
âHaving my dessert.â
Dexâs brain went completely blank when your fingers found his belt buckle. The soft click-clack of it coming undone rang through the room like a gunshot in his ears.
He opened his mouth to speak, to protest, to do something other than lie there like a trembling mess offering himself up to you, but all that came out was a strained, cracked confession,
âAre you sureâyou-you donât have toââ
His hips lifted off the couch cushions anyway.
A complete betrayal of every word coming out of his mouth. His body didnât give a single fuck what his brain was trying to negotiate.
It wanted you. It had always wanted you.
You didnât hesitate. You dragged his slacks and boxers down his thighs in one smooth motion, baring him completely to the warm air of your apartment.
He shivered, his cock springing free to slap against his stomach with a wet, heavy sound.
He was already painfully hard, leaking against his navel, the swollen head flushed dark and slick, and the sight of you looking at it made his stomach clench so hard he thought he might be sick.
Your hand wrapped around him like it belonged there. A firm grip that made him grunt, his hips bucking up into your fist before he could stop himself.
The heat of your palm was everything. He watched, completely mesmerised, as your thumb swept across the sensitive head, smearing the bead of pre-cum that had gathered there, using it to slick your stroke.
You looked up at him through your lashes, your mouth hovering inches from his tip.
Your breath was hot and uneven against his sensitive skin, and there was a tremor in your voice when you spoke that made his heart stutter in his chest.
âYou donât want me to suck your cock?â
Jesus Christ.Â
The visual was so fucking obscene, you, on your knees, looking up at him with those wide, innocent doe eyes while your hand worked his shaft and your lips hovered so close he could feel the ghost of them.
He had to lean his head back against the couch cushion and squeeze his eyes shut. He was going to cum just from looking at you.
A soft, dark laugh came from between his legs. âThat wasnât a no.â
Before he could answer, something wet touched him.
His eyes snapped open. He looked down just in time to see your tongue trace a slow path along the thick vein on the underside of his cock.
An embarrassing, needy whimper crawled out of his throat before he could strangle it. His hips twitched, desperate to push into the warmth of your mouth, but he held himself still by sheer, crumbling willpower.
You didnât stop. You laid a soft, lingering kiss right on the crown, your lips parting just enough to ghost over the sensitive slit before pulling away.
When you looked up at him, your eyes were dark and hooded, your lips slick and parted.
âKeep your eyes on me, Dex.â
He nodded. A dumb, jerky motion. He didnât trust his voice. He didnât trust anything. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.Â
You didnât even have his cock in your mouth yet and he swore he could feel the pressure building at the base of his spine, coiling tighter with every second you held his gaze.
His hands fisted in the couch cushions, knuckles white. His breathing was ragged, each inhale a desperate gasp.
He clenched his jaw so hard his teeth ached, watching in rapt focus as you parted your lips and took the swollen crown of his cock into your mouth.
Your eyes stayed locked on his. You held his gaze as you sank deeper, inch by agonising inch.
The wet heat of your tongue curled around his shaft, the velvet pressure of your cheeks hollowing as you pulled him further into the slick, perfect heaven of your throat.
Every inch you swallowed made his hips twitch involuntarily against the cushions. Every flutter of your lashes made his stomach clench tighter. He couldnât look away. He couldnât.
Oh, fuck. Your mouth was so warm. So impossibly wet.
The slick slide of your tongue curling around his shaft, the flutter of your throat when the tip pressed against the back of your mouth, he didnât think anything in this world could feel better than having his cock in your mouth.
He was certain of it. This was the single best moment of his entire miserable life. He was ready to die right here and call it a life well-lived.
You pulled back slowly, dragging your tongue along the thick, throbbing vein on the underside of his cock before taking him deep again with a low moan.
A broken whimper crawled out of his throat before he could clamp down on it. âFuckâfuck, I canâtââ His voice was wrecked, barely more than a ragged whisper. âYou gotta stopâor Iâm gonnaââ
You just hummed casually against his slick, swollen tip, your breath hot and uneven against his sensitive skin.
âNo, no, waitâplease, I want it to last,â he heard himself begging, the words tumbling out in a desperate, breathless rush. âIâm not gonna make itâI swear to Godââ
You didnât stop. You just held his gaze with those innocent, wicked eyes and took him deeper.
Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. He was so fucking pathetic. Lasting like some inexperienced teenager, his first time all over again.
He tried to think of anything else; baseball statistics, the cold metal of his gun, the layout of the presidential hotel, but it was no fucking use at all.
Every nerve in his body was tuned to the wet slide of your mouth, the curl of your tongue, the soft, muffled gag when he hit the back of your throat.
He squeezed his eyes shut, could feel the frustrated tears prickling hot behind his lids. He couldnât look at you anymore.
He had to stop himself, had to make this last, but his body was betraying him completely, trembling, arching, pushing deeper into your heat.
You took him back into your mouth in a single, fluid motion. Hollowed your cheeks. Pressed your tongue flat against the underside of his shaft.
And when you swallowed around the head of his cock, pulling him deeper into the wet velvet of your throat, he shattered completely.
âOh fuckâIâm comingââ
His hips bucked involuntarily, driving himself deeper into your throat, feeling you gag around him, feeling your throat constrict and pulse as you swallowed, milking the orgasm out of him.
His release slammed into him like a freight train.
Hot, thick ropes of his come spilled into your mouth, and you swallowed around him, milking every drop, refusing to let him go even as he convulsed through the aftershocks.
His back arched off the cushions. His hands fisted so hard in the fabric he thought he might tear it. His vision whited out completely.
When his hips finally stopped stuttering, when his body went limp and trembling beneath you, you released him with a soft, wet kiss to his oversensitive tip.
The tenderness of it made his chest ache.
âIâm sorry, Iâm so sorry,â he felt himself mumbling, the words spilling out before he could stop them. âThat was so fastâI couldnâtâI didnât mean toââ
His hand came up to cover his face, shame and self-disgust crashing over him in waves.
But you wouldnât let him hide. You caught his wrist, gently pulling his hand away, and crawled up his body.
Your lips were slick and swollen, your chin wet with him. You cut off his rambling apologies with a kiss, and his own taste flooded his senses. He groaned into your mouth, as your tongue played with his.
You broke the kiss just barely, your lips brushing against his as you murmured, âThat was the sexiest thing Iâve ever seen.â
He blinked up at you, dazed and trembling. âYeah?â
You hummed against his lips, a slow, satisfied sound. âAnd I canât wait for you to fuck me.â
The words hit him like a spark in a gas tank. The shame, the self-hate burned away in an instant, replaced by an animal surge of hunger.
He looked at you, still dazed, a slow, disbelieving smile pulling at his lips.
He still hadnât ruined anything yet. He still hadnât lost you.
His hands found your waist, gripping hard enough to bruise. Before you could react, he was moving, wrapping his arms around you and hauling you up with him.
You let out a surprised squeal, your legs wrapping around his waist instinctively.
He captured your mouth in a bruising kiss as he stood, walking blindly toward the hallway where he knew your bedroom was.
Dex lay perfectly still, afraid that even the smallest movement might shatter the fragile, impossible peace of the moment.
You were curled against him, your back pressed to his chest, your breathing slow and deep, the sound of someone completely and utterly spent.
He had never felt anything like this. Not once in thirty-two years. This is what it feels like. This quiet. This rightness. This terrifying, exhilarating certainty that he was exactly where he was supposed to be. Happiness.
His mind drifted back over the hours, replaying the sharp, vivid highlights like a film he couldnât look away from.
He had learned so much about you tonight. How your breath hitched when he scraped his teeth along your pulse point. How your fingers twisted in the sheets when he found the perfect angle.
You loved being on your hands and knees for him. The first time, heâd followed your lead, sinking into you from behind, gripping your hips so hard he knew there would be bruises.
He pounded into you, watching your body rock forward with every thrust as you cried into your pillows, muffling your pleasure.
But something in him had itched. He hated it like this.
He couldnât see your face. Couldnât watch the expressions that flickered across your features when he hit that spot. Couldnât feel your heartbeat against his chest or taste your moans with his own mouth.
It felt too much like taking, and not nearly enough like having you.
After you came the first time, your body shuddering and clenching around him, he pulled out before you could catch your breath and flipped you onto your back.
He needed to see you. Needed to watch the way your mouth fell open, the way your pupils blew wide when he settled between your thighs.
He buried his face between your legs and drank you in with a need that bordered on worship.
He lapped at your slick, swollen folds until your second orgasm crested, your hands fisting in his hair, your hips grinding against his mouth as you gasped his name into the dark.
By the time your third orgasm rolled through you, he had your legs wrapped high around his waist, his body pressed flush against yours.
He was buried so deep inside you that the world outside the space between your bodies ceased to exist. His nose touched yours. His forehead rested against yours.
He captured your gaze and held it hostage.
âLook at me,â he breathed, the command barely a whisper. âDonât close your eyes. Look at me.â
He wanted you to see everything he had felt since the first moment he saw you in that diner. The obsession. The desperation. The hunger that had consumed him for years.
He wanted you to feel it in the way he moved inside you, as if he was trying to pour every ounce of himself directly into your bloodstream.
He knew you probably didnât understand the full scope of it.
But lying here, in the aftermath, he let himself pretend. He pretended you had been waiting for him all this time. That your body recognised him. That this was always meant to happen.
When he finally let go, he held himself perfectly still, pumping his release deep inside you with a low groan.
He pressed so close that he could feel your heartbeat through his chest, grinding against you as if he could transfer his devotion through sheer physical proximity.
His nose stayed pressed to yours, his lips hovering just over your mouth, sharing the same warm, humid breath.
He whispered things against your lips. Broken things. Beautiful things.
Confessions that would never make sense in the harsh light of day, but here, in the dark, felt like the only truth that mattered.
âBeen waiting so long. So long. I fucking worship you. Youâre mine. Iâm yours. Donât ever leave me.â
His voice cracked on the last word. He didnât care. He let himself be cracked open, let you see the raw, jagged edges of him that he had spent a lifetime hiding.
You didnât answer. You probably didnât even hear him. Your eyes had fluttered shut, your body going lax and heavy against him.
Lost to sleep. Lost to him.
He smiled against your hair, a real smile that softened all the hard lines of his face. He didnât need you to answer. Not tonight.
Just having you here, warm and trusting and full of him, was already more than he ever dared to hope for.
The air in the room had cooled, but wrapped around you, he was warm for the first time in as long as he could remember.
Only twenty-four hours ago, he had been suffocating. Bound by rules and routines and the desperate need to keep himself contained.
But Fisk had shattered the cage he kept himself in. He had shown Dex a version of himself that was raw, hungry, and unapologetic. And instead of retreating from the wreckage, Dex had stepped into it.
He had let go of the ropes and the rules and the white-knuckled grip on control. He had chosen himself for the first time in his miserable, constrained life.
And by choosing himself, he had found the path that curved inevitably, beautifully, right back to you.
He pressed a soft, lingering kiss to the curve of your shoulder. His hand splayed across your stomach, feeling the warmth of you.
I did this, he thought, pride blooming in his chest. I chose this. I chose me. And it led me to you.
Dex buried his face in the curve of your neck, his nose pressing deep into the warm, sleep-soft skin just behind your ear.
He inhaled slowly, letting your scent flood his lungs. You smelled like homeâthe faint coconut trace of your shampoo, the salt of dried sweat from the hours you had spent tangled together, and something deeper, muskier, that was entirely, irrefutably you.
God. This was unbelievable.
And that was where his next problem laid.
He spared a glance down, past the rumpled sheet that clung to his hips, and saw the unmistakable tent of fabric where his cock had hardened again.
He let out a quiet, shaky breath, his eyes tracing the outline of his own need with a mixture of frustration and irritation.
He couldnât fucking help it.
He felt like a kid in a candy store. The kid being him, a thirty-two-year-old man who had never known what it felt like to want something and actually get it. And the candy store was you. Access to your body.
The knowledge that he could touch you, taste you, sink into you whenever he wanted, and you would let him. You would want him to.
He had known it would be addictive. He just hadnât realised how quickly the addiction would take hold, how it would wrap around his nervous system and tighten until he couldnât think of anything else.
His body moved before his mind could catch up.
Spooned against you, chest to your back, he felt his hips roll forward in a slow, instinctive grind.
The thick length of him slid into the warm cradle between your thighs, pressing against the soft, slick heat of you through the sheet. A low sound caught in his throat, a choked half-groan that he swallowed against your skin.
Fuck. He should let you rest.
He had been so rough with you tonight. Your body had given him everything. You deserved sleep. You deserved peace.
But his cock didnât give a shit about what you deserved.
Before he could stop himself, his hips rolled forward again, and this time the tip of him nudged past the edge of the sheet, finding the bare, wet seam of your cunt.
He gasped against your shoulder, his eyes squeezing shut. The slide of you against him was obscenely slick, unbearably warm, a friction so perfect it made his toes curl against the mattress.
Shit. You were still leaking him from earlier.
The evidence of what he had done to you was still there, pooled between your thighs, making you slick and ready for him all over again.
He pressed a quick, guilty kiss to your shoulder, his lips lingering just long enough to form a silent apology. Iâm sorry. I canât help it. I just... I need you. I canât stop needing you.
His hand moved, sliding over the curve of your stomach, tracing the soft dip of your waist before cupping your breast.
The weight of it filled his palm perfectly, the flesh so soft and warm, molding against his fingers like it was made for him. He squeezed gently, then let his thumb drag across your nipple, feeling the peak tighten and pebble under his touch.
A small shift rippled through your body. A subtle arch of your spine. A soft, breathy sound that caught in your throat.
He froze.
Every muscle in his body locked tight. His breath stopped. His heart hammered against his ribs so hard he was sure it would wake you on its own. He waited, suspended in the pure terror of being caught.Â
Sheâs going to wake up. Sheâs going to see what Iâm doing. Sheâs going to realise what a fucking creep I amâthat I canât keep my hands off her even when sheâs asleep, that Iâve been watching her for years, that I am completely, irreparably obsessed with her.
The seconds stretched like hours.
But you didnât wake. Your breathing deepened again, settling back into that slow, even rhythm. Your body relaxed against his, soft and trusting and completely oblivious to the war raging inside his chest.
He should have stopped. He should have been grateful for the reprieve, thanked whatever cruel god had given him this moment, and let you sleep.
Instead, he kept moving.
His hips resumed their slow, steady rhythm, grinding against your soaked cunt, the head of his cock sliding through the mess of his own release and your combined arousal.
The sensation was maddening; a wet, slippery tease that promised heaven without delivering it.
His hand stayed on your breast, rolling your nipple between his fingers, feeling the way your body responded even in sleep.
He pressed his lips to the back of your neck, a long, open-mouthed kiss that tasted of salt and skin. His breath came hot and uneven against your nape.
âIâm sorry,â he rasped against your skin, barely a whisper. âBut I canât... I canât stop touching you. Every second Iâm not inside you feels like Iâm wasting time I donât have.â
His hips rolled again, slower this time, deeper, the blunt tip of him catching at your entrance before sliding away, teasing both of you.
A shudder ran through his entire body.
âPlease. Just a little more.â
The words slipped from Dexâs lips against the warm skin of your neck, a prayer offered to himself more than you, a plea for permission he was already taking.
He buried his face deeper into the crook of your shoulder, breathing you in until his lungs ached, and let his hips move.
There was nothing graceful about it. He rutted against you like a man possessed, the thick length of him sliding through the slick heat pooled between your thighs.
The sensation erased every rational thought. There was only you. The need to be inside you again. To own you. To fill you so completely that you couldnât forget him, couldnât leave him.
His breath came heavier against your nape, as his hand slid from your breast down to your stomach. He pressed his palm flat against the soft curve of your belly and pulled you tighter against him.
The arch of your back pressed your ass directly against his cock, and a fractured groan escaped him.
Thatâs when he felt it. A shift in your body. Your muscles tensed, your breathing changed, the subtle alertness of waking. Your voice cut through the dark, rough with sleep.
âDex...?â
He froze for the span of a heartbeat. Then his hand came up to cradle your jaw, tilting your head back just enough for him to press a kiss to your cheek.
His hips never stopped their relentless grind, his cock catching at your entrance before sliding away again.
âShhh,â he breathed against your ear. âGo back to sleep, honey. Iâve got you. Just let me stay right here.â
He needed you to stay in that space between dreaming and waking, where you were pliant and accepting and he could pretend his need wasnât completely out of control.
But you turned your head toward him, your lips parting.
âDexââ
He couldnât let you finish. He kissed you, his tongue sliding into your mouth before you could form the rest of the sentence.
And you let him. No, you kissed him back. Your mouth softened under his, your body melting into his, your tongue meeting his with a lazy, sultry rhythm that told him everything he needed to know.
He felt your hand slide down between your bodies, your fingers searching blindly until they found him.
You traced the slick head of his cock, your touch featherlight, and a shudder ripped through him so violently he had to brace himself against the mattress.
âFuck,â he gasped against your lips. His forehead dropped to yours, his breath ragged. âYou want this too.â
You didnât answer with words. You nudged the tip of him against your opening, a silent direction that drove the last shred of his restraint into the dust.
He answered with a small grunt as he pushed inside.
The heat of you swallowed him whole, and he dropped his forehead to yours, breathing you in. A soft, breathy moan escaped your lips, and your fingers curled against his back.
âDex,â you murmured again, but this time it wasnât a question. It was a sigh of surrender. A welcome.
He pressed another kiss to your mouth, before he began to move.
He tried to start slow. He tried to savour the sensation of sinking back into your slick heat. The attempt lasted only a handful of careful thrusts before the hunger surged through him.
His strokes turned hard and punishing. The rhythm of his hips fell into a desperate tempo that rocked the mattress beneath you, the steady thump-thump-thump of the headboard keeping time with the wild beating of his heart.
His hand slid up from your hip, fingers grazing the soft skin of your stomach, your ribs, before curling around your throat.
You looked up at him through heavy-lidded eyes, your pupils blown wide, your lips parted around soft, broken ah-ah-ah sounds that spilled from your throat with every deep thrust.
He leaned down, his mouth hovering over yours, and deliberately let a thick string of saliva fall into your open lips. He wanted more of himself inside you.
More of his taste, his mark, his presence seeping into every crevice of your body.
A low, guttural groan rumbled up from his chest as he watched you swallow it without hesitation, without question. Your throat worked under his palm, accepting him, taking him in, and the sight nearly sent him over the edge.
âFuck,â he murmured against your lips, his balls slapping wetly against your ass as he drove into you harder. âYou liked that, didnât you? Touching you while you were asleep. Groping you. Fucking you like I own you.â
Despite the dazed pleasure softening your features, despite the way he was fucking the very thoughts out of your head, you still had the audacity to smile.
That slow, lazy, knowing curl of your lips that had haunted him since the first time he saw it. You hummed a soft, satisfied, âUh huh.â
âYeah,â he breathed, a fractured sound against your cheek.
He hooked your thigh higher over his arm, opening you wider, sinking deeper into your perfect, willing heat.
Your voice came out in fractured moans, but there was a teasing edge to it. ââS fucking hot. Knew you were a freak the second I saw you.â
Dex couldnât help it. A laugh cracked out of him, low and disbelieving, pressed against the warmth of your cheek.
Here he was, balls deep in the object of a years-long obsession, and you were calling him a freak like it was the highest compliment.
The laugh faded into a shuddering exhale as he shifted his angle, driving into you with hard, deep thrusts that pushed the air from your lungs and left you gasping beneath him.
He wanted to leave a permanent mark on your soul. He wanted your cunt to remember the exact shape of him, the exact weight of him.
He wanted the memory of this night imprinted so deeply into your body that you would feel the ghost of him every time you closed your thighs.
He leaned down, lips brushing your ear, breath ragged and hot.
âIâm gonna make sure you never forget who you belong to.â
Your response came as fractured, desperate moans, words swallowed by the rhythm of his hips driving into you.
Without breaking pace, his hand moved. Two fingers pressed against your lips. You opened without hesitation, taking them into your mouth just as you took every part of him.
He pushed them deep, curling them against your tongue in perfect time with his thrusts, a double rhythm that had you moaning around his knuckles.
The sight of you like this; mouth full of him, cunt full of him, eyes glassy and fixed on his face, pushed him to the edge. He could feel the tension coiling tight in his gut, the familiar ache building at the base of his spine.
He was seconds away from coming. But he couldnât. Not yet.
He needed you there first.
With a wet gasp from you, he pulled his fingers from your mouth, a string of saliva breaking between his skin and your lips. His hand dropped without hesitation, finding your clit.
He rubbed fast, precise circles against the swollen bud, his own rhythm faltering as he poured every ounce of focus into your pleasure.
His eyes locked onto your face. He watched every micro-expression. The furrow of your brows, the way your lips parted on sharp, punched-out breaths, the flutter of your lashes as pleasure overtook you.
You looked up at him, dazed and pleading, and he nodded like a man possessed, a dumb, frantic motion that matched the speed of his fingers.
âCâmon,â he breathed, the words cracking. âLet go fâme. Let go, baby.â
And you did.
The orgasm hit you like a wave, your back arching, your mouth opening in a loud moan. Dex felt it, the way your cunt clenched around him, choked him, milked him.
The sensation ripped a loud, guttural groan from his chest, his hips stuttering as he followed you over the edge. He closed his eyes, the world going white, and let himself go.
Deep, pulsing spurts of cum filled you, and he thrust into you with every wave, pushing himself as deep as he could go, holding himself there, making sure every drop stayed inside you.
When it was over, the room was filled with nothing but harsh, shared breaths.
He collapsed against you, his full weight pressing you into the mattress. He made no move to pull out. No move to let you go. He stayed buried inside you, as close as flesh could get.
âJesus Christ,â you murmured in a daze, the words barely a whisper.
The silence that followed was a dangerous thing. It let the thoughts back in. The insecurity. The horrible, gnawing fear that he had done too much.
He pressed his face into the curve of your neck, hiding, breathing you in until his lungs ached. His voice was rough, muffled against your skin.
âToo much?â
A beat. Then your hand, slow and heavy with exhaustion, slid into his hair. You laughed, soft and drowsy.
âNo.â A pause. âBy all means... keep me in your basement if you want.â
Dexâs eyes snapped open.
The joke hung in the air, clearly just a sleepy, affectionate jab. But he didnât hear the joke.
He heard the offer.
Having you to himself. Forever. In a place where no one else could touch you, see you, take you. A place where you were his, every single moment of every single day.
And if you wanted it... if you offered it up with that same trust you gave him your body, your mouth, your cunt...
Then why the fuck wouldnât he do it?
He lifted his head slowly, looking down at your face. You were half-asleep, lips curved in a soft sex-dazed smile. You had no idea what you had just given him.
His voice dropped, quiet and raw. Completely serious.
âYeah?â
Your lashes fluttered. You hummed, already drifting back into sleep, but the sound was an affirmation. A yes.
His hand slid up, cupping your jaw, tilting your face toward his. His thumb traced your cheekbone, and when he spoke, the words were a vow pressed against your lips.
âThen Iâm never letting you go.â

â pairing: Maekar Targaryen x sister!reader x Baelor Targaryen
â content: literally just endless fluff | targcest (throuple)
â a/n: a little blurb because I miss my men. Working through this inbox...we will get there.
You sat propped against a mound of pillows, your silver-gold hair still damp at the temples and swept back over your shoulders. The linen had been changed; fresh, soft cotton against skin that still prickled with fatigue. Every bone ached in ways you had not expected, yet it did not matter. Not now, with the weight in your arms.
Maekar sat to your right, still in his doublet, the laces at his throat loosened. To your left was Baelor. Between them, cradled against your chest, lay your son.
He was so impossibly small; the kind of small that made the entire chamber feel cavernous and echoing. His lids were shut, faint blue veins visible beneath paper-thin skin, and his lips, scarcely formed, fluttered open and closed. A fine down of dark hair covered his head, silk-soft, with a single streak of white just above his left temple.
All three of you watched him in silence until, suddenly, his eyes opened. One was a deep, lucid violet; the other warm amber, flecked like honey held to the light. They blinked once, twice, unfocused, and turned toward the glow of the hearth. Heterochromia, just like Baelor's.
You turned to look at Baelor. His jaw clenched, the muscle in his cheek twitching before his lips pressed into a thin line. A solitary tear slipped from the corner of his amber eye and traced a path down his tan cheek. Maekar's hand rose to rest on Baelor's shoulder; his thumb brushed the seam of Baelor's doublet in a gentle, absent gesture. Baelor inhaled slowly, covered Maekar's hand for a heartbeat, then let it fall.
You shifted forward and tilted the babe toward Baelor. "Here," you said, your voice rough and raw. "Hold him."
Baelor's arms moved, hesitated. "I'llâ"
"You won't," you said firmly, guiding the child into the cradle of his forearms. You reached up, pressed Baelor's left hand against the back of the babe's head. "Here. Support him like this. Yes."
The infant weighed almost nothing in Baelor's arms; arms that had swung swords and toppled champions in tourneys. Still, he held the child as though his very life depended on it, his shoulders curving inward protectively, his frame folding around that tiny body.
Behind you, Maekar's arms came around your waist, pulling you back against his chest. His mouth found your temple. "You did well," he murmured.
You squeezed his forearm where it lay across your collarbone, leaning back against him as his embrace tightened.
Baelor gazed down at his son. The babe's little hand flexed; fingers splaying, curling, against the cotton of Baelor's sleeve.
"Maekar," Baelor said, "greet your son."
Maekar lifted his chin from your hair. "Yours." Then, quieter, "He looks nothing like me."
You frowned, turning your head against Maekar's shoulder to look up at him. His face was still; jaw set, mouth flat, eyes fixed on the bundle in Baelor's arms.
Baelor shifted his gaze from the child to Maekar. "He is yours, nevertheless, as the children who take after you will be mine."
Maekar opened his arms. Baelor transferred the babe with the utmost care, one hand lingering at the nape of his neck until Maekar's fingers slipped into place. Maekar tucked the child into the crook of his elbow, cradling him exactly as you had shown Baelor.
His free hand rose, a single finger tracing the curve of the babe's cheek. The skin was impossibly soft, softer than anything he had ever touched. Then the babe's fist closed, wrapping all five tiny fingers around Maekar's index finger with instinctive strength. Maekar's breath caught, his eyes widening, his mouth parting in a sound that was not quite a laugh or a word; something fragile that cracked at the edges. In that instant, he knew he could never love anything more fiercely than this small, warm life.
You leaned in, your head resting on Maekar's shoulder. Baelor's hand found the small of your back, anchoring you both in that circle of three around the child.
The babe's eyes drifted again, slow and unsteady, across the faces above him; the white-haired man who held him, the woman pressed close, the dark-haired brother beside you. His mouth twitched, his nose scrunched, and then he sneezed; a soft, kittenish sound that made his whole body jolt. His face crumpled, relaxed, and a massive yawn stretched across his tiny features, far too large for such a small mouth. When it was over, his lids fell shut once more, his breathing deepened, and his grip on Maekar's finger softened; loose but unwilling to let go, as sleep claimed him.
The fire flickered lower. Silence settled over the room.
đĽ ă ¤IF THEY BABYSIT YOUR SIBLING â 㠤㠤㠤various! genshin men
PREMISE â In which they're unexpectedly entrusted with babysitting your endlessly energetic younger sibling, only to discover that surviving one chaotic afternoon proves far more difficult than they ever imagined.
CONTAINS â babysitting, children, family dynamics (?), mischievous younger sibling, wholesome interactions, lots of fluff
ââ ( đ. ) lohen would only agree because you were the one asking. Even then, he'd make it abundantly clear that he had absolutely no idea how to look after a child and that you shouldn't expect miracles by the time you returned.
The moment the door closed behind you, an awkward silence would settle between him and your younger sibling, both simply staring at each other as though waiting for the other to speak first.
Unfortunately, the silence wouldn't last.
Within minutes the child would begin asking endless questions, wandering around the house, climbing onto furniture, touching anything remotely interesting, and somehow finding danger in the most ordinary places.
Lohen would spend most of the day following a few steps behind with an increasingly exhausted expression, quietly pulling them away from shelves before they could climb them, moving fragile objects out of reach, and repeatedly saying, "No, we're not doing that," only to repeat himself seconds later.
He wouldn't magically become good with children, nor would he suddenly know how to entertain them. Instead, he'd awkwardly sit through every long-winded story they insisted on telling, occasionally responding with short comments simply because completely ignoring them felt too cruel.
Whenever the child inevitably became bored and demanded he play with them, he'd let out a long, defeated sigh before reluctantly giving in, looking painfully out of his element the entire time.
Despite complaining under his breath every few minutes that children were exhausting, he'd never once stop paying attention to where they were, instinctively catching them before they tripped, pulling them away from anything dangerous, and making sure they ate properly without ever admitting he cared. By the end of the day, he'd look far more worn out than after some of his most demanding missions, privately deciding that watching children required a level of endurance he simply did not possess.
When you finally returned, the first thing you saw was Lohen sitting on the couch with a look of complete defeat while your younger sibling continued talking excitedly without taking a single breath. The child immediately ran over to you, proudly announcing every chaotic thing theyâd done that afternoon. Lohen slowly looked up, rubbing a hand over his face before letting out a long sigh. "I donât know how you do it.â After a brief pause, he glanced toward your sibling, who had already started climbing onto the back of the couch, and stood up before they could fall. ââŚIâm still not having children anytime soon.â
ââ ( đ. ) wanderer would spend the first several minutes questioning your judgment for leaving your younger sibling with him in the first place. The child, meanwhile, would seem completely unfazed by his sharp tongue, immediately bombarding him with questions, following him from room to room, poking at his hat, tugging on his sleeve, and talking almost nonstop.
Every few minutes he'd click his tongue in annoyance, muttering that they were unbearably noisy, yet despite all the complaints, he'd quietly keep them within arm's reach whenever they wandered too close to something dangerous.
If they climbed somewhere high, he'd immediately pull them back down before scolding them for making reckless decisions. If they refused to eat, he'd grumble the entire time while somehow managing to convince them anyway.
He'd never openly entertain their childish antics, insisting he wasn't interested whenever they invited him to play, though after enough persistent pleading he'd begrudgingly participate while pretending he wasn't enjoying himself in the slightest.
The child would quickly discover that every sarcastic remark he made was usually followed by him quietly fixing whatever problem they had caused. If they scraped a knee, he'd click his tongue before cleaning it up with surprising gentleness. If they grew sleepy halfway through the day, he'd quietly drape a blanket over them while pretending he was only doing it because their constant talking had finally stopped.
By the time you returned, Wanderer would already be insisting that he was never agreeing to babysit again, despite the unmistakable fact that he'd spent the entire day making sure your sibling was safe, comfortable, and never once actually felt unwelcome.
When you came back, you found your sibling happily drawing while Wanderer sat nearby pretending not to watch. The child suddenly looked up with a grin. âHe let me braid his hair!â Wanderer immediately frowned. âI did no suchââ His hand instinctively reached behind his head before pausing. Feeling several tiny braids woven into his hair, he closed his eyes with visible annoyance. âIâm never doing this again.â
ââ ( đ. ) lyney would accept the responsibility with absolute confidence, reassuring you with his usual easy smile that everything would be perfectly fine and insisting he'd handled far more difficult audiences before.
From the moment you left, he'd somehow transform an ordinary afternoon into what felt like an endless magic show. Every complaint from your younger sibling would become an opportunity for another trick, every moment of boredom answered with a disappearing coin, a deck of enchanted-looking cards, or an elaborate story that somehow turned the child into his honorary assistant.
Rather than telling them to sit still, he'd cleverly redirect all of that boundless energy into helping him prepare his 'next performance,' making them feel important enough that they rarely had time to cause trouble.
Even whenever they became particularly stubborn or dramatic, Lyney never seemed to lose his patience, instead treating every tantrum like an audience member who simply hadn't seen the best part of the show yet.
Before long, the two of them would be constructing imaginary performances together, practicing dramatic introductions, and assigning ridiculous stage names to one another. He'd laugh just as much as the child did, fully committing to every game without ever making them feel like they were simply being babysat.
Somewhere throughout the day, he'd unintentionally become less of a babysitter and more of an older brother figure, encouraging their confidence, celebrating every tiny achievement with exaggerated applause, and making sure they finished meals and stayed hydrated without them even realizing they were being looked after.
By the time you returned, the house would almost certainly be messier than when you left, but your sibling would have spent the entire day smiling, convinced they'd just experienced the greatest magic show Fontaine had ever seen.
Dozens of playing cards littered the floor while your sibling excitedly insisted theyâd 'learned real magic.' Lyney looked up with an innocent smile, though the glitter scattered across both of them suggested otherwise. âIn my defense,â he laughed, brushing a handful of confetti from his shoulder, âthey were an exceptionally enthusiastic assistant.â The child immediately puffed out their chest. âIâm better than Lyney!â He placed a hand dramatically over his heart. âI'm being replaced?!â
ââ ( đ. ) flins would begin the day genuinely believing babysitting couldn't possibly be as difficult as everyone claimed. That confidence would disappear almost immediately after your younger sibling began asking nonstop questions, insisting he join every game they invented, and somehow managing to create chaos from the simplest activities.
Clearly overwhelmed yet determined not to disappoint you, he'd try almost everything that came to mind. If the child wanted to build a fort, he'd help gather every blanket in the house. If they wanted a story, he'd make one up on the spot, awkwardly improvising as they continuously interrupted with increasingly ridiculous suggestions.
Rather than trying to take complete control of the situation, Flins would naturally begin following the child's imagination instead, letting them decide the rules of every game while quietly making sure they never got hurt.
Though he'd become visibly flustered whenever the child ran off unexpectedly or asked questions he couldn't answer, he'd never lose his patience or raise his voice, choosing instead to gently redirect their attention elsewhere until the problem solved itself.
As the day went on, his initial awkwardness would gradually fade, replaced by genuine laughter whenever the child proudly showed him another drawing or insisted on teaching him a completely made-up game.
He'd still look exhausted by the end of it all, but there'd also be a quiet satisfaction in knowing he'd managed to keep them happy. Even if he insisted afterward that children had far too much energy, he'd secretly think back on the day with a small smile, realizing it had been far more rewarding than he'd expected.
When you finally returned, you found the two of them sitting on the floor surrounded by an impressive mess of blankets, wooden blocks, and hastily made paper crafts. Flins looked up with an embarrassed smile, rubbing the back of his neck. ââŚI was going to clean this before you got back.â Your sibling immediately interrupted. âNo! Weâre not done yet!â He let out a resigned sigh before glancing back at you. ââŚI think Iâm taking orders too.â

the boy yearns âż megumi fushiguro is madly in love with you and you don't know it ďš yearning ďš
megumi fushiguro has been in love with you for the longest time since middle school. everybody has told you that. not because he told them, but because they could tell.
they could tell in the way he looked at you. that soft look in his eyes everytime they met you. that's not a look that he gives to just anyone. that's definitely the look of someone in love.
but you couldn't believe them. you just couldn't. megumi fushiguro was one the most quiet and reserved guys you've ever met there is no way he could like you or stare at you like that. that just couldn't be true!
but it was true.
megumi fushiguro did in fact love you. he loved you like nobody else.
the moment you helped him up on the playground when you were five, when that smile was always plastered on your face, he knew he liked you. it wasn't that your smile was beautiful (though he always bkushed when he saw it) but it was that you were just so effortlessly sweet. you were the kindest girl he's ever met (second to tsumiki but still the kindest).
and when you first became friends he tried desperately to suppress those feelings. not because he was embarrassed of liking you. that was never the case. but because he was scared of admitting he was in love with you and having to one day face it and tell you. and he couldn't just tell you.
he may come off as aloof and fearless but in reality, when it comes to being vulnerable with the people he cares for, he's scared. not only is he afraid of opening his heart for you, he is afraid of opening his heart and being rejected.
he can't lose you.
he just can't lose you.
who would sit with him at lunch? who would talk to him or try to make him smile on days when he wasn't one the mood?
so for ten years he stayed silent. he became megumi, the distant and withdrawn boy you met on a playground when you were six. he became megumi, the guy who doesn't like being in big circles and prefers the company of you because you're the only friend who isn't loud or annoying. for ten years he just denied ever liking you because he couldn't handle the thought of being rejected and having to lose you.
for ten years he suppressed his love for you.
was it easy? no
did it hurt? maybe.
middle school was hard.
it was so, so hard to hide it.
he remembered being in the gym class with you for those three years. it was torture. because as you grew, you grew more beautiful. and maybe it was the hormones or the love in the air, but he thought you were the most beautiful girl in his grade if not the whole school. maybe even the world.
your beauty penetrated the highest of his walls (either that or his walls were built of toothpicks and marshmallows).
but ofcourse it didn't stop there. because his love couldn't simply stop at your beauty. even as you grew more social with people, even as you started hopping from group to group, you still stuck with him like the butter on his morning toast.
you always found your way back to him. it made him feel sort of special. it made him feel like you could rely on him. it made him feel like he could rely on you.
everytime he tagged along with your friends, you'd always turn around, give him that beautiful smile that secretly made his heart race and ask him, "are you alright?". he couldn't answer to that. the answer that he was desperately trying to form in his mind vanished. so, he just nodded and replied with a gruff, "im fine."
he remembers one time, in gym class during your "rebellious" phase, you two hid underneath the bleachers talking crap about your classmates. you talked about a certain classmates terrible haircut and he couldn't help but stifle a laugh. did he mention that your jokes, despite being corny at times, made him smirk most of the time?. he thought that they were stupid but they made this warmth spread through his chest. it made him feel normal. it made him feel like maybe there was a place where he can fit in.
nobody could replicate the way you made him feel. nobody. not even hana, the girl in his history class that was always trying to get in the way. she couldn't comapre to you.
she was always there but not in the way you were. her presence was loud and demanded attention. your's was quiet. your's was more comforting (not to mention he thought the bob she had didn't suit her).
as time went on she grew to like someone else in his class. which ended well. but then came your bold and loud classmate. he didn't like him. not even one bit.
he was so annoying. he thiught everybody was annoying but this was different kind of annoying. he was always around. it gave you no choice but to pay attention to him. it gave you no choice but to cancel all your plans and ditch megumi for him.
maybe he was more handsome than megumi but still.. it was a weird feeling that settled in his chest. some call it jealousy but megumi called it annoyance. he wasn't jealous. he wasn't jealous at all.
megumi fushiguro you liar.
you were jealous and in love with her.
admit it. admit that you're in love with her. tell her. confess to her. do it before it's too late.
his heart was telling him to speak now or remain silent for the rest of his adolescence but his mind was telling him to take it like a man, to stay quiet, to let that dumb guy have a go that way he won't have to face his fear.
fortunately he was whisked away at the sight of another girl. that meant megumi had time. that meant megumi could have her all to himself.
he just had to speak now.
but as the days for your middle school graduation were finally nearing, he realized he may not have much time left. the final week of school were the worst days of his life. he tried to muster up the courage to tell you how he felt. but he couldnt..
he practiced in his mind the words he would tell you every morning and night. but everytime they didn't sound right. they didn't sound good enough for someone as perfect as you. they didn't seem enough.
because no words would be enough to describe the feeling he gets when you're near.
as days neared he began losing hope.
and when the day came, he had only one chance to tell you. to tell you that your friends are right. to tell you that he is madly in love with you and that he doesn't he couldnt just get you out of his system.
he had one chance and wasted it.
you were walking to your parents, you hugged them tight with your signature grin. not knowing that the boy everybody was telling you was madly inlove with you was standing there, watching with a defeated look on his face.
and that was the last he saw of you.
until highschool.

a/n: guys i need him and ormund like the air i breathe, but why do i imagine gwayne just like being evil but more submissive, like apologising about it because he knows itâs wrong but he canât help himself. anyway going to open my inbox soon for drabble ideas only, will do a separate post for who i'm willing to write for.
gwayne's grip on your hips is bruising as he holds you in place against the bed. even without his hands keeping you there, his weight would do the trick, his body heavy as it rests against yours.
your flush against each other, skin damp with sweat of your endeavours. one hand is at his shoulder, nails breaking the skin as you cling to him, while the other is pressed between you, frantically trying to push his torso away from you.
to anyone that dared to walk in you might look like lovers, completely lost in each other's embrace. but that is far from the truth.
it is your uncle that lays upon you, face nuzzled into your neck, inhaling your scent like the air he breathes. the man that raised you, taught you in the faith and agreed with his cousin that Targaryen inbreeding was a wicked thing.
the same man is rutting inside of you, delivering thrusts that border on painful over and over again like he can't help it. like he'd die if he stopped.
some part of you believes it.
you heard what the maesters said, the side affects the medicinal herbs might give him. but after five moons at war, returning to you bruised and broken, dragging his lifeless body through the halls, he needed them. needed them to mend the broken bones and bruised flesh.
and it worked, but then came the after affects, the sweats, the blackened pupils and the dark stare as he watched you across the table.
you should have known not to open the door, should have known that he'd be unable to control himself.
couldn't he have found another? was there not an abundance of women that swooned at his feet.
alas here he is, buried in you, attached to you like he's apart of you. he always said you were his favourite girl, his good girl, his girl. maybe it was only a matter of time till you were going to become truly his.
he lifts his head, lips grazing the subtle skin of your neck and sitting them just below your ear.
"you're so good to me," he groans, forcing his hips against you harder. "my girl. my sweet girl."
it hurt at first, when he forced himself into you. you cried, blood dripping out from you and staining the sheets. and all he could say was sorry, repeating the word repeatedly until the pain faded and the pleasure came. hot and heavy, leaving a puddle beneath you of your own ruin.
and it grows with every thrust, every time his fingers reach between you and play with your sensitive nub, every time he presses his open lips to your wet skin and whispers, his girl.
but now there's a different pain, an ache in the limbs and tiredness as your wet eyes close over. one that screams to put an end to this, to give you some sort of mercy.
"please," you plead, eyelashes thick with tears. "please justâ"
his lips fall against yours, hungry and wanting as he forces a kiss upon you. you can barely breathe, and when you try to turn your face to the side he follows you, not allowing you any reprieve.
before you realise it, he's taken advantage of the sudden distraction, folding your legs till your thighs are flush against the sheets, knees poking into your ribcage and ankles over his shoulder. you gasp at how deep he pushes in now, allowing his tongue to slip into your mouth. everything begins to feel more intense, his tip prodding at a part of you that makes your body freeze.
âbreathe,â gwayne begs of you, all while forcing another hungry kiss onto your mouth.
you try, gasping for air the moment his mouth detaches from yours, only for him to close the distance a mere few moments later.
you scream into his mouth, cry. but the sound is muffled and at another thrust your thighs are quivering in his hold, walls squeezing him like they'd rather keep him there, then let him go.
all you can do is take it, even as the light of the morning breaks through into the room, and your eyes struggle to fight sleep. until someone finds you like this, trapped between your uncle and the bed he lay you on.

âËࡠsummary: It's two weeks before valentine's day and a student org just launched âcampus cupidâ â an anonymous matchmaking program. Fill out a form, get matched, talk through anonymous accounts, then decide whether or not to meet. Totally harmless right?
Unless you're you, still recovering from a break up bad enough that you and Lohen went from dating all of highschool to pretending the other doesn't exist. At this point, "hate" is probably the easiest way to describe whatever's left between you.
So when Tartaglia and Venti decide to be the worst people alive and submit both your forms behind your backs... yeah. Fate has a horrible sense of humor, and the two of you are about to find out just how well you actually know each other when names don't get in the way. Two people who used to know one another better than anyone, talking like strangers, slowly remembering why they worked in the first place.

Hello!!! Could I request a wanderer x reader where the two are in the forest and an aranara startles them? It'd be funny if the aranara hid from the reader repeatedly because it wasn't familiar with them (unlike wanderer).
Have fun with this prompt and take care! đЎ
wanderer and his too pretty nara â MASTERLIST ËËË
"Remind me again why we're here?" The Wanderer asked, his tone laced with mild annoyance as he pushed aside the branches that hung too low. In front of him was your figure doing the same thing.
You glanced over to you shoulder, just enough for you to catch a glimpse of the wanderer and his thoroughly unimpressed expression toward nature.
As usual.
"You said the forest was peaceful." You replied with a smile and the Wanderer let out an irritated huff.
"I lied." You heard the Wanderer say and you let out a laugh as you continued to walk forward carefully. The Wanderer had to roll his eyes to hide the fact that enjoyed the sound of your laughter.
The leaves crunched under your shoes, the forest was quiet save for the birds happily singing somewhere in the distance. "I thought you were too shy to ask me out on a date so you casually mentioned how peaceful it is here." You teased, not looking back but you can already imagine the Wanderer's face turning into a look of shock with his brows raised.
The Wanderer let out a scoff, "Don't be ridiculousâ"
A nearby bush rustled.
You stopped in your tracks and your gaze moved towards the bush while the Wanderer let out a sigh, "It's probably an animal." The moment he finished speaking, the bush rustled againâ
A small pair of eyes peeked out from behind the tree beside it.
You blinked.
It blinked back.
Then immediately vanished.
You stared and then turned towards the Wanderer who was just standing there with his arms folded in front of him looking at the scene in front of him, watching with complete indifference.
"...Did you see that?" You asked as you walked towards the tree and placed your hands on it's trunk as your circled around it, finding nothing. No creature, no sound, no eyes blinking back at you. "Huh.. maybe I imagined it."
"You didn't." The wanderer replied, a hint of amusement flickering across his face.
"Then where did it go?"
"How should I know?"
You rolled your eyes at his reply before continuing deeper into the forest. Five minutes later, you caught movement from the corner of your eyeâ there was a round little figure peeking from behind a mushroom, you immediately turned your headâ
Whoosh!
You stared at the spot where you swore you saw the little figure and Wanderer stared as well before snorting, "It ran away from you."
You felt offended, "Why would it run away from me?"
Wanderer shrugged, "Maybe you're frightening."
You looked even more offended, "I'm not frightening."
Wanderer couldn't help the lift of the corner of his lips, "That's what frightening people say."
The third encounter was when you were more prepared but it was also the worse. You spotted the creature first and the creature on the other hand thought that you wouldn't see them through the bush but you slowly crouched down in front of it and smiled, "Hello." You said softly.
The creature froze and for one glorious second you finally thought that you finally succeeded. "Eek!" It let out, a tiny startled noise before launching itself behind the Wanderer's leg.
A complete betrayal!
"It chose you." You said as you looked at the tiny figure hiding behind the wanderer's leg but then you saw a different colored creature and then another. "There's something behind you.." Curious, you stood up from your position and looked behind the wanderer.
Only to find out that these tiny creatures were hiding behind the wanderer all along, even the ones that had ran away from you earlier!
Eventually you knew that this was what they call the Aranara and somehow they were familiar with the Wanderer or at least they recognized him, you however was just a stranger and whenever you took a step forward, the Aranara took a step back.
Several minutes of trying to make friends with these little creatures wearing a bowtie and another holding a stick, the Wanderer finally crouched down and a number of Aranara popped out instantly, "Hat Nara!"
"Mhm."
"Pretty Nara scary."
The forest became quiet, even the birds must have been at shock at the words of the forest spirit. You looked horrified and the Wanderer looked delighted, very delighted.
"Did it just call me scary?" You looked at the Wanderer.
"Apparently,"
"Why?" You asked, brows furrowed now. The Aranara poiunted at you and said, "Pretty Nara too pretty." You heard a huff beside you that almost sounded like a laugh but then you really heard the Wanderer laugh, a rare, genuine laugh and now you understood that you had been defeated by a forest spirit wearing a bowtie.
Hours later, you turned around to wave goodbye to the forest spirits only to find that one of them was holding a flower and cautiously approached you and then offered the flower in it's hands.
When you accepted it and gave it a small smile, it squeaked and immediately hid behind the Wanderer's leg again. The Wanderer laughed and you let out a small pout at that.
"Congratulations." He said, grinning at you, "You've somehow become the first person in history to intimidate an aranara by being attractive."
"That's not a thing." You said with the pout still on your face.
"Apparently it is."
You let out a huff and lightly bumped your shoulder against his as the two of you walked out of the forest. You looked behind one last time and saw the Aranaras hiding behind those bushes and trees again. You smiled before you looked at the Wanderer, "So.."
He gave you a sideway glance.
"You think I'm attractive?"
The wanderer looked at you with a brow raised as though you said something utterly absurd.
But you knew that look in his eyes and that tiny smile that was a little too fond.
Idk if this counts as crack fic or not but basically bc Iâm pretty sure Summerhall has loads of cats due to rats, what if every time wife!reader took in another stray - Aerion would name it a dragon from history! So thereâs just a whole bunch of cats in Summerhall named as dragons, granted he canât ride them, but Aerion got his wish of having dragons (cats) in the end!! (Wife!reader loves this)
Cats
This is short but full of crack! I love the idea I did take some inspo from my own cats. Love you and thanks for the request đĽ°
Ft a pic of one of my cats from 2020 at the bottom (youâll see why) obviously out of character Aerion!
âWhat the fuck is that?â Maekar asks looking at the little beast sat on his chair in the dining hall. You and the children already sat waiting for him and Aerion. Daeron out at a tavern.
âA cat.â Egg answers helpfully, a smile on the boys face. Knowing what his father was actually asking but deciding to be difficult.
âI know itâs a cat what the fuck is it wearing?â Maekar demands, not paying attention to his second son as your husband enters.
âCaraxes there you are.â Aerion say walking over to the cat to pick it up. The cat purring the whole time, rubbing its face up against him. âYou werenât in your usual spot I was worried.â
âWhat the fuck.â
âOh father, meet my dragon Caraxes.â Aerion say turning so his father can see that cat in all its glory. Fabric wings included. Maekar having been away for a few weeks visiting Baelor.
âWhy is the cat wearing wings?â Maekar asks exasperatedly, just wanting one normal dinner for once. Baelor getting to have normal meals all the time, his children never dressing animals up in costumes or making potions.
âMy wife made them.â Aerion replyâs with a smile, loving that you made them for him.
âAgain, why is the cat wearing wings.â
âWell I tried them on Meleys and Vhagar but they just kept scratching me so I put them on Caraxes and she loves them.â He explains, knowing he probably should have tried Caraxes first as sheâll put up with anything. Daella once putting one of her dollâs dresses on the cat.
âYouâve broken my son.â Your father by law says looking at you. âHe used to be normal.â
âDid he?â You and egg respond back both of you giving Maekar a look. You all knowing Aerion has always been odd.
âWell he used to be less obviously weird.â
-
âDo you know where Vermithorâs gone?â Aerion asks entering the solar, Caraxes following him. Still wearing her wings.
âHeâs cuddling Rhae.â You respond knitting a new dragon snug as egg would like one, after finding Aerionâs. Noticing your husband turn around to leave. âWhere are you going?â
âTo collect my dragon.â
âAerion no, heâs claimed her. Leave them be.â You say knowing the girl loves that cat, him loving her back as heâs been sneaking into her chambers every night to cuddle her.
âBut heâs mine.â Aerion whines still not liking to share every though heâs a grown man.
âYou have plenty of dragons sheâs allowed one.â You say giving him a look.
âFine.â He say admitting defeat as he sits next to you. Caraxes jumping into his lap wanting cuddles.
âWhat the fuck is wrong with my son.â Maekar mumbles to himself as he walks past the solar just having heard your conversation.
-
âNight my love.â Aerion says to you softly while you fall asleep in his arms.
âNight.â You mumble into his chest, seconds away from sleep when he continues talking.
âNight Caraxes, night Silverwing, night Vhagar, night Syrax, night Meleys, night Tessarion, night moondancer, night Sunfrye, night Morning.â He says saying goodnight to all the cats in your chambers, Vermithor with Rhae while seasmoke is sleeping in with Egg. Balarion sleeping beside Maekarâs head, the man denying it if itâs even brought up.

The lecture hall was packed today. You guessed it was because your current professor permits other students to sit in on lectures so long as they don't make any ruckus of some sort.
Twenty-three minutes ago, you had sent Kuni a reel of a cat dressed up as Tung Tung Tung Sahur. In hopes that he would reply soon, you had your phone facing up on the table. It was on silent mode, of course, but a flash would be enough to indicate a reply.
The sound of your professor's voice is all but background noise compared to the thoughts running through your head. Surely, Kuni giving you a something as special as a rare and valuable card meant something, right?
"Hey, mind if I sit here?"
"Go ahead." You reply without glancing up from your notes.
"Thanks."
Who in their right minds would show up thirty minutes late into a lecture, anyway?
Out of curiosity, you briefly turned your head to glance at the person on your left. It was only for a second, and your stomach dropped.
"Ah, Lohen, what a pleasure it is for you to come and join us for once." Your professor sighed.
"Pleasure's all mine, prof!" His voice was too cheery and unbothered, devoid of any remorse.
You were almost proud of yourself for feigning indifference when all you wanted to do was just switch to another seat.
Hyperaware of the male sitting next to you, you notice his attention on his phone under the desk instead of listening to the lecture. Typical.
Your phone flashes once but the state of unadulterated anxiety kept you too preoccupied to check. Probably just your groupchat anyway.
Lohen's thumbs fly over his keyboard as if he was messaging someone.
Your phone blinks again.
"[Name], could you please read the next paragraph for us?" Your professor pulls you out of your trance and it took an embarrassing long minute for you to find which paragraph he was referring to.
Lohen continued to type away on his phone while yours continued flickering like a distress beacon.
Once you have given yourself time to calm down and finish reading, you picked your phone up, fully expecting the groupchat to be blowing up.
Oh.
Oh no.
You slowly turned your head to casually (you had hoped) glance at Lohen only to find him already looking at you - or more specifically, at your phone - his expression blank and unfathomable.
You immediately turn away, sliding your phone into your pocket.
You've really done it now. . .
The rest of the lecture goes by in a blur. Had he seen? Surely, he isn't that perceptive to realize, right?
The moment class was dismissed, you wasted no time and gathered your belongings into your bag.
Your phone started ringing.
"Cute ringtone. Danganronpa soundtrack?"
What is he still doing here!?
You try to come up with an excuse, "Uh, yeah - my mom is calling."
"Better answer then, no?"
"Yeah, i'll - i'll see you around!" You attempt to flee but he had caught your wrist and archons, you could really tell from how tightly he was gripping that he meant business.
"Hold on just a second -"
"[Name]! You done yet? Ajax wanted to hang out at the cafĂŠ."
Thank archons for Sandrone because it gave you just enough momentum to escape from his iron grip. You wasted no second and bolted right out of the classroom.
"Woah - are you okay?" You bump into Columbina, a look of concern making its way to her face.
"We need to go." You drag the both of them as far away as you can.
Sandrone reaches for your phone, "Hey, someone's calling you -"

yandere!childhoodbsf x reader
youâve been by each otherâs sides for years. you couldnât remember a single moment when you two werenât hip to hip. ever since pre school, then elementaryâŚand now you werenât so sure. you felt like your relationship was slowly slipping away, blocked by the sea of admires that flocked to his side, following him everywhere he went.
You couldnât blame them. he was attractive, but it also hurt. you guys were once so close, and now it felt like you two were in two different worlds.
Every attempt to talk was always interrupted by one of his many friends. slowly, you distanced yourself from him. there was no point in trying. he seemed happier with these new friends.
Which was what you thought. he looked happier from a distance. you just never got the chance to look at him. and not just at his pretty face. to see him. what he really felt likeâŚabout you.
and it was soo frustrating. couldnât you see how much heâs done for you over the years ? how much he dedicated himself for you ?
Heâll make you see againâŚpromise.
you were alone, walking to who knows were in the schoolyard to clear your racing mind. then it drifted back to him, and you immediately sigh. it was hopeless. no point in thinking about him anymore.
you turned the corner, and jumped back in reflex when you almost bumped into someoneâŚit was him, looking at you with wide, cold eyes.
he grabbed you by the shoulders, pulling you closer. âI missed you so muchâŚit feels so good to touch you again.â he mumbled.
your skin crawled, you missed too him to but, you currently werenât sure if you should be happyâŚhis hold was way too tight. you tried to squirm out of his grasp. âme too butâââwhat happened ?â he cut you off.
âwhat are you talking about ?â
âDonât act clueless !â his hold on you began to shake. âwhat happened to us, huh ? ignoring me like iâm like the rest of themâŚwe were so close..!â he hissed, lowering his head.
âCâmon. letâs go back, like we were before.â his voice cracked like a childâsâlike how you two were before all this. he leaned on your shoulder, bringing you close to his chest. âiâm so stupid for even giving them a glance. iâm never letting you go; letâs stay like this foreverâŚokay ?â
note: i feel like i half assed it, especially in the last few parts,,,

your heady scent wafts through the air.
itâs taking everything in him not to take what he wants, right here, right now. his fist clenches underneath the table. he offers you a smile, one that doesnât quite reach his eyes, noticing your attention drawn to him as the conversation lulls.
youâre collarless, scent gland on display.
itâs a bit engorged. the skin raised from your impending heat. heâs never known omegas to flaunt themselves like that. not unless they wanted something to happen to them. thatâs what this is, right? some little signal to him? youâve always been so elusive. itâs hard to tell when it comes to you.
itâs starting to drive him insane, but it doesnât matter. youâll be his all the same.
he sits a bit closer to you, throwing his arm around the couch as he listens to you prattle on about some show he canât be bothered to care about, not right now. not with your scent coiling in the air like that.
you smell so sweet, even to someone like him with dulled senses. itâs so much better close to the source.
when you lean into him, head knocking into his shoulder, his mouth waters. his teeth start to ache. all it would take is one bite. heâd pull you into a hug, grip your hair tight, splay the delicate line of your neck to him.
no, no, no.
not one bite. it wouldnât last, not from someone like him. heâll have to keep doing it, over and over and over again. make the mark stick, leave his indentation in your neck. until you never have to wear that stupid collar ever again.
youâll bear his mark on your skin insteadâthe perfect necklace.
for now, heâs keep listening, keeps letting you press yourself against him, none the wiser that he has something special planned for you.
âiâll get us something to drink,â he states abruptly, squeezing your shoulder as he departs.
he doesnât wait for you to answer, just getting up and heading into the kitchen. heâs been here long enough that everythingâs become second nature to him. he knows where the utensils are, where you keep your favorite snacks, the food you eat, nearly everything about you at this point.
that means youâre perfect for each other.
he opens the fridge, grabs the pitcher, and sets it on the counter. his hand lingers on his front pocket, on the little packet of heat inducer. it was surprisingly easy to obtain; who wouldâve thought? you know a guy who knows a guy, and things just magically fall into your lap.
he tested it on himself first, of course. luckily, it didnât do much but give him an erection that seemed to last for fucking days. heâs not leaving this shit to chance. he waited too long for you to mess this up.
he grabs two cups from the dish rack, not wanting to dawdle too long. thatâll seem suspicious, and heâs not that type of guy. he pours it into your cup, watching the white powder be absorbed by the juice.
itâs supposed to be flavorless.
hopefully, youâre not one of those people who notice everything. as much as he doesnât want to hurt you. heâs not afraid of getting rough, but itâll still be really unfortunate to break that illusion.
all of the work that went into carefully crafting his personality to your liking.
all down the drain.
he returns to your side, a smile on his face as he hands you the glass. âfor you,â he adds, gaze lingering on your face. his fingernail scrapes down the glass as he counts down the seconds, that drag into minutes, waiting for the drug to kick in.
any day now.
and there.
he feels the exact moment you slump into him, nearly slipping your drink onto the floor. he takes it out of your hand, breath hitching from the contact. even now, just the touch of your skin against his is enough to set him off.
he sets the drink down.
that sweet smell deepens, practically pressing against his nose. his tongue swipes across blunt teeth. he wraps his arms around you, nosing against your neck as he lets out a pleased sigh.
âw-what? what did you give me?â you slur, trying and failing to push him away.
you can barely feel your fingertips. itâs like youâre watching everything happen from outside of your body. your mindâs growing all hazy with want. it feels like youâre going into heat, but that shouldnât be possible.
you take your pills on time. you shouldnât be due for another week at most.
it couldnât possibly be him.
heâs supposed to your friend.
he licks a stripe up your neck, allowing you to slide down the couch. youâre rag-dolling at this point. he has to position your legs to keep you from falling off. heâd prefer to do this in your bed. just so you can remember this exact moment, every single time you fall asleep.
but heâll accept this for now. the drug isnât going to wear off that fast, especially not for its intended target. he paid far too much for this shit to be a dud.
you feel the exact moment his teeth sink into your scent gland. the smell of iron burns your nose. he bit down hard enough to draw blood. you want to cry, but the tears just wonât come. the only reaction you can muster is the slight hitch in your breathing.
he pulls back, just enough to look at your face. he wants to write this moment in his mind forever. youâre just so beautiful, even limp and useless. you canât give him a proper reaction right now, but thatâs alright.
you have all the time in the world. you didnât really think heâd be alright with just having you once, did you?
his grin widens, showing off blood-stained teeth. his hand comes down to caress your cheek, trailing down to your gland. the skin is angry and bruised, teeth marks imprinted on your delicate throat. he presses his thumb into it, watching the beginning of tears well up in your eyes.
finally, a reaction.
âoh, did that hurt, darling?â he questions, tone mocking. he brings his thumb back up to his mouth, licking the blood, your blood, off his finger, reveling in the sight of your teary face.
fuck, thatâs so hot.
he chuckles, reaching into his back pocket. he takes out his phone, the first photo heâs ever taken of you staring back at him as he unlocks it. he opens the camera app, the click of the shutter breaking through the noise as his library fills with more pictures of you.
âi think iâll keep this one, and that one, and the other one,â he teases, eyes crinkling at the corners. âmight even make it my lock screen. youâre⌠god, youâre just so beautiful, you know. you just⌠make it so hard to keep my hands to myself. honestly, iâm surprised i lasted this long.â
he sets the phone to the side for now, returning his attention to you.
âiâm gonna take reeeal good care of you, sweetheart,â he murmurs, nimble fingers sliding your pants down your legs. his gaze lingers on the sight of your slick, soaked thighs. youâve managed to make a mess of your underwear, and he hasnât even properly touched you yet.
still, heâs a gentleman.
heâs not going to skip out on foreplay and pass up the chance of tasting you. he takes off your underwear as well, stuffing them into his pocket for safekeeping. he kneels between your legs, face hovering inches from your glistening sex.
ah, youâre so wet and all for him.
the scent of you is even better here, all musky and sweet. the flavor of your essence erupts on his taste buds as he licks a stripe up your sex, letting out an airy moan. his nails dig into your thighs as he drags you closer, arranging your legs to dangle over his shoulders.
he laps at the slick dripping from your entrance, fingers stroking the length of your arousal. itâs pulsing beneath his fingertips, throbbing like it has a heartbeat of its own. youâre just as wet as heâd imagines youâd be.
the real thing is way better than the omega porn he watched. only, after he found out your designation. thereâs never been a point in watching it anymore. not when he has actual material right in front of him.
he takes you into his mouth, suckling on your swollen heat. his gaze is drawn to the shaky rise and fall of your chest as he keeps sucking. yeah, youâre starting to feel it now. he squeezes your chest, rolling your pebbled nipple through your shirt.
youâre just so responsive. when he licks, your thighs start to twitch. when he sucks harshly, you let out an exhale that sounds more like a sob than anything. a sob of pleasure? yeah, thatâs what it is. you want this just as much as he does. you always have. you just needed a little more⌠coercion.
someone like youâan omega.
you just donât know what you actually want. thatâs why you need someone like him to take control. someone whoâll fill your mind with blissful pleasure. thatâs how itâs supposed to be. people like you donât have ambitions. you donât need to go to school or keep that shitty little job that doesnât pay you enough.
youâre supposed to have his children, stay home and take care of them. in fact, you shouldnât ever leave. itâs not safe. what if someone has the same idea as him? of course, they would. youâre just too enticing.
thatâs why he canât help acting this way.
itâs all your fault.
you caused all of this to happen. why else would you have invited him into your home? no, your home together, so close to your heat. allowing that sweet scent of yours to coil around him like a loverâs embrace.
youâre so coy.
acting like you donât want this, when youâve been throwing yourself at him this entire time.
his finger breaches your hole, two at a time. youâre so wet that his fingers slide right inside. he listens to the messy squelch of your hole, teeth biting into his lip at the lewd sight. with every push of his fingers, more of your slick drips out. if he keeps this up, youâll stain the couch.
so naughty.
oh, itâll be so sweet. just think about it. every time you sit down on this couch, youâll remember just how we took care of you, ate you out, fingered you open, prepped you to receive his love.
now, that he thinks about it. what better way to remember this special moment than with a video? a photo. those are alright, but a video. heâll have all of your cute little reactions saved in the memory of his phone. itâll be something sweet to look back on with you. wouldnât that be so nice?
right, sweetheart?
he pulls away for a moment, fingers glistening with your juices as he reaches for his phone. he props it up on the discarded glass, making sure the angle is right before he presses record. he takes a moment to think to himself.
heâs actually doing this. youâre finally going to become one.
the sound of him pulling down his zipper rips through the delicate moment of appreciation. he can feel the weight of your teary gaze on him and see the subtle motions of your lips mouthing out words. he doesnât wait for an answer, merely pulling his pants and underwear down far enough to slip his dick out.
he lets out a sigh of relief. god, it feels like heâs been sporting a half chub since the moment he got here.
he climbs on top of you, bracketing you in as he strokes himself. âare you ready, love?â he murmurs, gaze filled with possessiveness and, most of all, pure love. his hand finds yours, intertwining his fingers with your limp ones as he presses inside.
he lets out a satisfied sigh, feeling you tighten around the intrusion. he noses at your neck, sucking on your scent gland as he rocks against you. that sickeningly sweet scent wafts into his nose once more. itâs euphoric, better than any drug.
itâs almost enough to make him come from the thought alone, but he wonât.
no, not yet.
he has to make sure you enjoy yourself first. he might not be able to satisfy you with a knot like an alpha would, but a few orgasms should do the trick. thatâs what it said online, at least. when he was doing⌠research.
his hand wanders back down, rubbing between the junction of your thighs. your eyes are still glazed over, face lax with a line of drool decorating your chin. mmm, youâre so sloppy. thatâs what he loves about people like you. the kind who lose control during sex, making a mess all over themselves.
he starts to thrust faster, feeling himself start to leak inside you. âa-ah, yeah. you feel that, sweetie,â he murmurs against your skin. itâs like youâre trying to push him out every time he thrusts back inside you. ây-you keep making me feel that good, and i⌠i might just put a baby inside you. you want that too, right? a bunch of brats together? just me and you⌠and our kids running around the place.â
youâre not responding to his tentative touch anymore, but⌠thatâs alright. he knows just how overwhelming things like this can be, having your first time with your soulmate.
he canât even believe itâs happening himself.
he surges forward, lips pressing against yours for the first time. his tongue parts your lips, slipping inside your mouth as he loses himself in the taste of you. the gentle smacks of his lips pressing against yours fill the room, a backdrop to the sound of the television thatâs grown long forgotten, the very moment he handed you that drink.
he continues rutting against you, keeps rubbing his fingers along the throbbing heat between your thighs as he presses your prone form further into the couch cushions.
heâs going to make you come.
he can feel it.
your body doesnât lie, even with those deceptive tears that are spilling from your eyes. god, he wished you'd stop with the fucking theatrics. having a cock inside you canât be that damn bad.
youâre in heat. you want this.
if he didnât come over here. youâd probably be on your hands and knees for the first dick that appeared, begging to be knotted. if anything, heâs doing you a favor.
so, you should be grateful. grateful that he even prepped you at all. maybe you wouldâve preferred he just shove his dick inside you dry. no slick to help with the intrusion.
just him.
he grits his teeth, willing away those thoughts. he just needs to focus on the feeling of your hole fluttering around him. donât think about other people with you. heâs here with you right now. itâs his dick thatâs making you feel this good.
no one elseâs.
that euphoric feel that heâs been chasing catches up to him as he lets out a choked-off moan. his fingers tighten around yours, hips slowing to a still as he paints your insides white with his release.
he really did it.
he came inside you. you have his teeth marks on your neck.
something that only happened in his wet dreams that would keep him up at night.
he pulls out of you, taking the moment to admire the sight of his seed dripping out of you. now, this is something he can get used to. your beautiful face, and the sight of your freshly bred hole. he scoops back up his cum, fingering it back inside your entrance.
you didnât think really think he about your little problem, did you? he might be coming down from his high, but he still has to breed out your heat. show you that heâs way better than any of those useless alphas.
and heâs going to make sure you come again, and again, and again.

After that, it was smooth sailing. Now, you paid a lot more attention to him and his not so subtle hints. It got you thinking, how ignorant did you have to be when he was being so obvious and blatant about it?
So the next time heâd drop hints of what he wantsâŚ
He wraps his arms around you, effectively disturbing your work. Rubbing his head against your torso, kneeling on the floor as he looks up at you with mischievous eyes covered up with innocence. You gulped, stopping your work as you looked down at him.
âWow, babe, you look so hot when youâre working. I just want toâŚâ He slides up your shirt, gently biting the skin. He places a hand right between your legs (where your obvious boner was) and coyly slides himself up, placing his head in the crook of your neck. His voice drops to a whisper.
âSo, what do you say, babe..?â His breath hits your neck, warm and inviting. His hand moves, palming your bulge.
Your hands hover at his sides, uncertain, hesitant. âI-is it⌠do you want toâŚâ You leave the words unsaid, hanging in the air for him to decipher.
âYes! I was wondering when you would realize.â He starts to immediately strip himself, working at an inhuman pace. âThought I would have to say it straight up to you, like last time.â
He smirks at your nervous expression as you tell him not to do that- what if you were on a call and somebody heard?
âHehe, you didnât let me finish. I thought I would have to, but I donât need to cause youâve been catching on a lot quicker.â He grins as he tugs down his pants. You get flustered, telling him to stop so you can move to the bed.
Thatâs another thing- he wants to do it all the time, everywhere. You can be washing the dishes and heâs behind you practically humping your leg. Youâd be reading or gaming and heâs jumping on you. Youâd come home from work to be met with a hot, needy kiss.
Heâs begging the second he sees you. It happens a lot more often now that you understood- there was no way that he would be refused, so he's gotten a lot more bold. And you always ask to confirm if itâs what you think it is and the answer is never no.
When you guys do have sex, you always refuse to release, trying your best to take care of him. But thatâs so hard when heâs been very keen to get you off. Heâs been trying all sorts of things to get you to climax.
Like one time, it was your day off and his working day. You try to pass time as you wait for him on the couch, but fall asleep. When you woke upâŚ
You jolt as you start to gain consciousness, feeling warm all over, and extremely⌠sensitive. Something was wet, hot and tight. You let out an involuntary moan, quickly opening your eyes to see your pants down and your boyfriend sucking on it.
You immediately put your hand on his head, trying to push him off. âOh, youâre awake?â He says muffled, mouth full. The sensation of vibrations runs up your body and you shiver in pleasure.
You mumble for him to get off and he obliges. You were all flustered asking him what he was doing, he shouldnât do that, especially without your permission, while you were sleeping, but you get cut off as he wraps his hand around the base. âBut Iâve never seen you cumâŚâ He pouts.
He starts to move his hand up and down, slowly, grip comfortably tight. You wince from the pleasure, doing nothing to stop him. He takes this as a sign to continue, slightly speeding up.
âItâs not fair⌠you always get to see me cum, but Iâve never got to see youâŚâ You stutter out excuses, how you wanted to please him, how you wanted to maximize the pleasure for him, and he cuts you off again with a slight squeeze. You bite back a groan.
âPlease, just this once..?â
How could you ever refuse that?
He moves to sit next to you. You try your best to muffle your sounds as he continues to stroke you. Youâre panting heavily, unconsciously spreading your legs wider, hands fumbling around to grip something. Youâd never felt like this before. As you let out shallow breaths, he seems proud of himself, stroking faster and faster.
The worst part of it all was how he was staring at you the whole time- like he wanted the memory burned into his mind, locked away for later use. Every sound and flinch and wince from you encourages him as he pushes you towards your release. You ashamedly felt turned on from it, the way his eyes were on you.
The final straw is when he wraps an arm around your shoulder, snuggling closer to you. âCâmon, babe, canât you cum for me..?â You let out an embarrassingly loud moan as you release.
Damn. You were so wrapped up in the hand job, you forgot exactly where you were. You dirtied the couch. He smirks, seeing your worry and clear fret over the sullied fabric.
"Don't worry, babe, we can do it somewhere else next time."
You're dazed as he leans in for a kiss. Now you had a 'next time' to look forward to.

So letâs say you finally get the hint - or maybe not. I bet he has to outwardly and directly tell you. Straight up confront you because his subtle coy techniques and methods werenât working at all. Itâd go something like this:
The two of youâd just be cuddling, after another one of his attacks to try and provoke you. You might be scrolling on your phone, or doing your work, heâs holding tight to you and staring off to the distance, spacing out. Then heâd suddenly snap his head towards you. âBabe.â Heâd say. You look at him and ask what.
âLetâs have sex.â
You cough and sputter, choking on air. Did he really have to say it so directly? âYou didnât understand any of my advancesâŚâ he pouts. âSo I thought the best way to get what I want is to be upfront.â
And of course you agree, because you never refuse your boyfriend.

Sex with you was so⌠uninteresting.
His heart thumped with excitement as he thought- would you be rough? Would you be harsh? Unrelenting with him that even when he begs you to stop, you keep going? He was hoping to see a meaner, feral side to you.
But to his shock, you were as kind as normal- if anything, even kinder. He was disappointed. He thought that everyone has a different side to them during sex. But you⌠You were all prim and proper, using a generous amount of lube, wearing a condom, prepping him nice and thoroughly.
You entered gently, so slowly. You held him like glass. Wouldnât move until he was comfortable- and when he lied that he was, you grabbed his face, squishing it and telling him to stop lying.
That was the âroughestâ you had been with him, ever. You held him close, going at a pace that would pleasure him but not hurt him. And that was the worst part- you were still so considerate- always going out of your way to accommodate him.
Always in positions that he wouldnât get hurt in, probing and poking places that would give him most pleasure, making sure he was ok. When you started off, he thought he wouldnât get anything from this.
But for some reason, he didnât know why, he loved it.
He came very shortly after you entered him, he had never felt so⌠full. It has been a while since the last time he had vanilla sex⌠He begged you to continue and you did.
Every time he came, youâd stop after he seemed done, caressing him and wiping the sweat off of him, pushing his hair back and kissing him and telling him how much you loved him and that if he wanted to stop, you would, then switch positions every time he told you to keep going.
He started crying tears halfway through from the overwhelming amount of pleasure he was feeling- it was always a mix of pain and pleasure, he never knew it could just be pleasure. You stop and worriedly wipe his tears, but he pleads that you continue.
After a while, you stopped humoring him and said it was enough. As you pull away and out, he grabs you and begs you not to. You kiss his forehead, telling him that he was clearly tired and that it wasnât good for him. He was trembling all over, eyes hazy, body weak and obviously out of it.
He reluctantly let you pull out- and he realized. You never changed the condom, not once. âBabe! You didnât cum even once! Was I⌠not good enough for you?â He bit his lower lip as his eyes started tearing up again, this time out of hurt.
You kiss him and tell him no, donât ever say that, he was perfect and you didnât deserve him. Reassuring that you did feel immense pleasure, itâs just that you wanted to focus on him tonight.
He frowned, but seeing how rock hard and how much you were leaking when you took off the condom, he knew you were telling the truth. When he insisted he get you off, you refused, saying he was going to pass out any moment, given the toll cumming so many times had taken on his body.
As you take him to the bathroom, he canât help but feel bad. One of the goals tonight was to see you come undone. He was hoping to see how you would look and act when you were out of it. Next time, he thought. Next time heâd be sure to get you to cum.
He was already planning the next advance to get you worked up.

Reader who is a gentleman, reluctant and doesnât want to rush things. Like, you want to go slow, not pressure him into anything. But heâs the complete opposite. Eager and horny. Gets pouty whenever you donât realize his advances and suggestive words.
One time, you were watching tv, relaxing. He asked if he could sit on your lap, and you agreed because you never refuse him. Then you tried to stay as still as possible so he wouldnât feel uncomfortable. Him, on the other hand, starts rubbing himself against you, trying to get you hard. You slowly but surely do- how could you not? Your boyfriend was in your lap, rubbing his cute ass all over you. Neither of you mention it, he was waiting for the right moment. But you suddenly excuse yourself and push him off, rushing to the washroom. When you come back, heâs sulking, refusing to talk to you.
Or another time, earlier in your dating. You had pecked him on the lips, near the front door, getting ready to leave. You pulled him in for an innocent kiss but he pushed it to something deeper. He put his hand on your neck, pushing you down and your mouth open as he slid his tongue in. You let him, let him take control.
You squeezed your eyes shut, but peeked them open to look up at him- and you forgot to breathe. He looked up at you with the most lustful eyes, hooded and focused on you. Your hands found themselves at his waist, gripping gently.
Unknowingly, you started rubbing circles in, slowly pushing under his shirt. You pulled away for breath only to have him chase you and your hand slipped further up. He let out a cute moan, and you snapped to your senses. His hands were on your chest, gripping your shirt, panting and eyes half lidded, mouth open.
What a sight.
You gulped and pulled away, muttering apologies and mentioning that you should probably go now. He grabbed your hand, clinging to you, nuzzling against your arm.
âStayâŚâ He whispered, looking up at you. You didnât reply, hesitant. âStay for the night, please.â
You agreed because you never refused him, why start now? You offered to sleep on the couch, but he sighed. He wanted you next to him. As you got ready for bed, he pulled you close and tight, not allowing you to get away. Woke up in the morning super disappointed because you didnât touch him at all.
And sometimes he tries to rile you up through jealousy. Now, you were a really kind guy. You werenât the type to get jealous, he knew that. He would never cheat on you, you both knew that. But surely even you have a line that would be crossed, right?
But nooo, no matter how much he joked with another man, you just smiled, genuinely, and asked if he was having fun. Because you let him be with his friends, your friends, with strangers, for goodnessâ sake. Because you trust and love him so much, he knows that.
When none of that works, he tries to get you worked up another way. He wears sultry clothes, revealing and tight. Off the shoulders, crop tops, see through, leather, you name it. And he always asks you, âBaby, how do I look?â and you always smile, replying that he looked great in anything and everything. He pouts.
When you move in together, he wastes no time trying to seduce you to the best of his abilities, pouncing on you the second you get home, rubbing himself all over you. Always trying to please you, get you heated. But youâre always just kissing his forehead or cheek, never really touching him.
Heâs really frustrated. He wants you- no, needs you so bad. When will you get the hint???

Liking this one guy after meeting him through a mutual friend. Thinking he was cute after sharing passing glances and a series of events that led to exchanging numbers. You didnât tell him you liked him just yet- you were waiting until you were sure he reciprocated feelings.
However, that idea of yours was promptly shattered as you see him cling to another mutual friend within a group, flirting. You hesitated a bit in your feelings, and deciding it not to be worth it to crush on a guy that didnât like you back, your feelings for him dispersed. They werenât that deep in the beginning.
Now, here you were, at his house for a group hangout, only to end up making out with him in the kitchen. He gripped your shirt, leaning away for a bit, a faint red dusting his eyes as he panted out of breath.
âI⌠I like youâŚâ He confesses earnestly, grip tightening slightly on your shirt, no doubt afraid of rejection.
You hesitated a bit before hoarsely whispering, âI liked you too.â
His eyes widened. He didnât miss the past tense. He could only tremble in shame on the inside as you lightly take his hands off your shirt. âIt was in the past, though. Iâm not really interested anymore.â
He doesnât stop you as you walk away, biting his tongue in anger.
-
Maybe it was a slight lie on your part. Now, seeing him sincerely chase you for your affection, you feel a little bit guilty for not being more passionate in liking him before. He flirts with you, but never crosses your boundaries. It only leads to another heated kiss, this time while the two of you were alone.
âI liked you before too, yâknow., I thought you were, I dunno, straight.â He softly whispers to you, eyes darting downwards. âI wish I knew earlier that you liked me.â
Again, it ends with you pushing him away, unsure of your own feelings. He also wished youâd stop playing with him. He hated this endless chasing around.
It continued with you avoiding him and giving unclear answers, him pestering you, hoping that you still wanted it. To be honest, you didnât mind the pestering. It usually ended up with you two alone and making out anyway. Oftentimes, his teeth clamp down on your tongue gently, it felt good.
And finally, just as he was giving up and thinking maybe heâs been too much of a bother, you agree to a relationship. He almost cries with joy.
The first time you fuck him the two of you end up on his bed. He whines and whimpers, begging for it. Youâre astonished with how sensitive he is, climaxing with a shudder and an endearingly obscene look on his face, going cross-eyed. It irritates you that you didnât chase him because wow, youâve been missing out.
His body was soft, warm, pliable, as you easily bent him this way and that, maneuvering him and plowing into him really hard. You canât keep your hands or mouth off of him, fingers wandering down his broad chest and soft thighs.
He turns his head, pleading for a kiss, and you oblige. His teeth once again clamp down on your tongue as you increase your speed. You pull away to kiss the tears you feel with his face pressing against your own, and he bites your lips in retaliation.
You pull out all the way, only to flip him onto his back and slam back into him, obsessed with how his neck arches back and eyes close, a sweet moan escaping his lips.
His hands claw at the sheets, sudden pleas of âslowerâ, âno, gentle-â escaping his lips. You stop abruptly, pulling out. You coax his hand into letting go of the sheet and entangling it with yours, kissing his wet eyes and cheeks.
Apologies are on the tip of your tongue as he glares at you, before a sharp pain makes itself present on your collarbone. Youâre surprised into silence as you watch him bite down and glare up at you through his lashes. One word flashes through your mind- puppy. He was a biter.
Astonishment turns into amusement and you laugh, apologizing and telling him to take the lead. He eagerly shoves you onto your back, and does his best to ride you, inexperienced but cute. Still, your hands lay on his waist, not letting go for a second, massaging smoothly.
-
Not long after, youâre hanging out at the mall before a mischievous look crosses his face as he glances at his phone. He throws an arm around your shoulder, whispering provoking things in your ear. You wonder what heâs up to, used to his peculiar but arousing ideas by now.
You feel teeth and wetness on your ear, a whispered, âCâmon, letâs fuck in the mall babe.â You push his face away, rubbing your ear and feeling uncomfortable from stares.
It was a stupid idea. Not tempting at all.
So now why were you in the underground parking lot, in the dimly lit hallway that connected the elevator to the parking lot? Why was he pressed against the wall, back arched prettily, hands braced against the yellowish paint peeling to reveal white-grey bricks.
You had a dizzying grip on his hips, moving fast, trying your best not to have skin slap on skin. The absence of the clapping allowed the obscene squelches, pants and barely restrained moans from both of you to seem so much louder. The excitement and absurdity from this situation.
âYouâre crazy.â You panted into his ear, gently nibbling it and trying your best to make sure he felt comfortable.
âYou- ugh!â He chokes, words barely coherent. âYou still went along with it. Youâre also crazy.â
You canât deny it and instead decide to start moving at a slower pace, wondering if this was the last of his crazy ideas.
