(PLOT DROP: this occurrence happens the next night after the blood moon event. You may publish this with a response or a reaction from your muse underneath it.)
Whether its common or not for you to take nighttime flights, you find yourself streaming through the clouds, above trees and houses and cars, the world spread out below you like a tapestry of beautiful lights and sleepy movements, but the brewing thunderstorm to your left begins to shudder and draw closer. The winds pick up suddenly and horribly, the stormfront rocking against you like waves against a ship, and you tumble downwards for a moment, wings useless and caught off-guard, and no amount of weather control techniques can help you now.
What’s worse; when you reach the ground, you find you cannot change out of your animal form. No amount of focus or force will allow you to become human again, no matter what you do, no matter how hard you try, the wings will not shed away, the winds continue to break against you, tugging and shoving you sideways. When the rain comes, it’s a torrential downpour, soaking your feathers instantly, confusing your sense of direction as though something else were carried on this storm, something darker and heavier and you’re pulled into it like a riptide from hell.
The storm doesn’t cease until the morning breaks across the city and you are able to finally become human again.
she’s not sure why she follows this whim. jiwon’s exhilaration from last night doesn’t mean she’s willing to let go of her hesitation to soar across the city itself—it does, however, help that occasional temptation to throw caution to the wind, until she’s flitting out the window of her room at the mansion. and once she’s out, it soon becomes clear she’s not going to back out of this flight.
the excitement of the previous evening resurges as she takes a winding route to her old neighborhood. the cold air is refreshing, a welcome distraction from the impending sense of doom she’s so, so sure stems from that years-old tragedy. this is the perfect chance to test herself. what’s there to be scared of, anyway? dark clouds?
she feels nothing but utter regret when the storm sends her down to the street. frustration sinks in with the water seeping through her feathers, but the full intensity of her fear is only realized when she realizes she can’t will her body to shift at all. the changeling’s left stranded, shivering under cover that she can’t even trust to last with how strong the wind is. so, new plan: find better shelter.
it’s hard to tell how long she spends blindly navigating the streets. the way the tempest rages, she can’t fly anywhere close to full strength, and walking on taloned feet is inconvenient even on sunny days. the one comfort in her exhaustion is that she’s actually free from those incessant worries that kept her from flying around busan in the first place; when she realizes she’s made her way to her childhood home, she has no qualms about just nestling herself against the window to her old room.
she gets the fright of her life when her brother barges in, presumably to check the window. he squints at her through the glass, giving her a moment to ponder flying away, before he bursts forward to bring her inside. soon, as her parents pitch in to help ensure her safety, jiwon’s anxiety worsens with the knowledge that she’ll almost certainly transform as soon as her abilities decide to function again. she hasn’t been this close to any of them for way too long, and if she dares let her guard down, she could lose the chance for this to happen again for the rest of her life.
the next morning, jiwon wakes up in her brother’s room—thankfully, in the same shape she’d been stuck in last night. he doesn’t say anything, simply peeks out the door, and then opens his window for her. but she stays put, wanting to commit the moment to memory; when he picks her up to send her out himself, muttering about not wanting to give his parents a chance at trying to make her their pet, it takes everything to keep control of her form.
she doesn’t will her wings away until she’s back in her room at the mansion, transforming on the floor with a choked cry. so overcome with emotion, the concept of the storm itself being the cause of that terrible feeling of foreboding never crosses her mind.

“Kana just asked me to put an extra protection spell on the beach to make sure our party doesn’t get crashed.”
so, jiwon’s plans of getting herself giddily drunk are working out splendidly this time around. when she goes back to the bonfire for seconds, she picks up another boozy juice box without batting an eye, plopping down by the food to survey what’s left. hm… she could go for something sweeter this time. but to help herself to one of the pre-made desserts, or to try building some s’mores? in her current state, the risk of getting sand on her own treat is almost funny enough to give the messy snack a shot—but then she hears her name, and a friendly question, and the familiar decides she doesn’t have the patience.
“you fuckin’ bet i’m having fun!” she exclaims, turning to throw her hands up with a grin. her excitement is dampened only a moment, as a few precious drops of soju fall over her head. “oh, no! did i squeeze the box? shit.” her now-sheepish smile quickly makes way for a more curious expression, giving dami a wide-eyed stare as the witch hooks her with a single sentence. “oh, yeah, anytime! wait. what?”
she’s up in an instant, crouching just long enough to grab a few cookies before she practically hops to her side. mm, should she also grab some extra soju? well, maybe not. the others deserve a chance to get more than one box, too. “ooh. sure sounds like her. alright, let’s go!”
jiwon makes an effort to separate the cookies she’s gotten, chomping down on one while she works out how to hold the rest of them in her free hand without dropping any. once she’s satisfied, she bites down and chews with a content hum. “hey, what about you?” she pauses to let a hiccup pass. “i mean, you havin’ a good time, too? i flew in so many circles, i don’t know what anyone’s been doin’ tonight.” after swallowing another morsel of doughy goodness, she holds out her other hand to dami. “want one?”
Late into the night, the festivities had not faded, though as of this moment, a lot of things were a bit vague to Momo. She must have more endurance than this, she inwardly thought – or was she speaking aloud? Momo wasn’t sure anymore. The stars, along with mother moon, were spinning; she must close her eyes. Her ears, she was convinced, had stopped working properly. It was akin to being underwater, feeling, but not really seeing or hearing.
for all her carelessness, the drinks jiwon’s downed haven’t affected her nearly as much as she’d like. she grudgingly chalks it up to her frequent flights over the heads of the rest of the coven scattered across the shoreline, but she simply can’t help it. the excitement this occasion brings her is too much for her human bones to handle. when she sets off running, skipping around to expend some energy, it’s all too easy to shift from muted fabric to jet-black feathers, taking off with a flourishing flap of her wings. with how long she spends darting about in this form, she should expect to be sober by the time she lands.
so she tries another tack. she grabs a juice box of soju—a packaging choice she will always, always find perfectly on-brand—and a random bag of snacks, then sets off to plant herself somewhere else. the sight of momo quickly has her decide which way she wants to go, trodding towards her with her first sips of her drink. her friend looks to be where jiwon wants to be, figuratively speaking. she can’t wait to join her.
“yo!” the changeling nearly topples backwards when she takes a seat beside the other. the sand shifts beneath her with the impact, giving way to her weight with a soft sound that tempts her to close her eyes. she looks to momo instead, head tilting heavily to one side upon realizing how far gone she might be. “you, uh… good? haven’t seen how much you’ve had to drink.” she tears open her bag and tosses something into her mouth, clenching her eyes shut at the saltiness that hits her tongue. “aw, shit, these aren’t the chips i wanted.” a pout forms soon after she swallows, one hand automatically lifting so she can take another long sip.
the brunette adjusts a bit, legs folding up until her chest can rest against her thighs; but, before she can settle in that position, she gives her friend a little nudge with the tip of her shoe. “ugh. you look this close to knocking out, but i don’t even really feel buzzed… this is so not fair!”

“damn. damn! jiwon-chan, can you find my pen i was just using? i swear i just had it…” she spins about confused, not noticing the piece tucked just behind her own ear.
jiwon holds an absurd amount of gratitude towards the coven. prior to joining them, the most she knew about her abilities were the basics. despite all her hoping, none of that could answer the whys or hows she often pondered on the run; when she realized that long-wanted explanation lay with this group of similarly gifted people in her hometown, it’s no real shock she chose to root herself once more.
the coven’s enigmatic leader plays the largest part in this by far. the witch doesn’t always seem out of reach, though. in the time they’ve spent under the same roof, jiwon’s seen more than she expected to be privy to—at least, she assumes the cracks in the composed persona aren’t seen by every member of the coven. not in a way where they can be openly acknowledged. but it makes lighter moments like this all the better, in her opinion; any cracks she sees now betray no darkness, only a rare, unintentional sort of mirth from the older woman.
jiwon’s hands still over the pile of fabric she’s been refolding, a slow mission only for the sake of procrastination. she’s itching to do more roaming about herself, but she knows gross overestimation when she sees it. like hell she’s going to let this go unchecked. “uh…” she purses her lips immediately as her eyes land on the object in question. to play nice, or to drag out the answer? seeing how joyous the witch is in her hyperactivity, there might be a chance she'd burst into outright laughter with her reply.
she ultimately just gestures to the side of her head and turns back to her work, finally letting out a giggle. there’s no fear of a bad reaction, but it’s probably best not to add to stress, anyhow. “you can give yourself a minute to breathe, you know. we still have to wait for everyone who needs a ride to get here!” smoothing out the top of the stack of coats she’s made, she sets it down closer to the door before moving back to the rest of them. what are the chances she could get away with ‘forgetting’ to bring all of them? “anything left on your checklist? let me help.”
flashback: newly recruited jiwon is nothing short of giddy to meet @13xyerin again.
the coven leader’s home is comically enormous. jiwon can’t help but think this each day she’s spent inside it; having gotten accustomed to mooching off of people and properties of more boring, average expectations, she knows it’ll take some time before she wakes up in this place and doesn’t initially think she’s dreaming. the wandering about she does to commit the layout to memory is far from helpful, on this front; sometimes, she wonders if she’ll knock her head against something around the corner and wake up in the real world.
so when she strolls into a room, only to be startled by the presence of another woman, it makes perfect sense for jiwon to do a double take as recognition hits. “no way.” the changeling whirls around, rubs her eyes, even subtly pinches herself before turning back to face the other. “no fucking way.” a round expression of awe melts into a warm smile as she closes the distance just enough to be certain she’s come to the right conclusion. “i can’t believe—is it really you, yerin unnie? i mean, hi!” she clasps her hands together, a breathless laugh leaving her. it’s getting harder to string words into reasonable sentences, all of a sudden. “it’s me, jiwon! does do jiwon ring a bell to you? i was that kid that demanded to be your friend, way back when. wow, time flies, huh.”
her mind leaps ahead to a whole new train of thought, fixating on a single inference. “hey, hold on a second. does you being here mean you’re magical, too? that’ll be, like, the second cherry on top of all of this shit. or the third. hell if i know how to split each perk of accepting a spot in the coven. not that it matters. the point is, you being here is a blessing on top of all the blessings rolling my way.” she stops just to give a loud gasp. “wait. are you part of the coven, too? how didn’t that cross my mind already? holy shit! what are you, witch or familiar?”
One would think they got mad because it hurt however, after a few seconds, Mina couldn’t help but laugh silently, because of the pain. “Jiwon-ssi! Are you okay?” she managed to ask between a few chuckles before covering her face and falling her head back.
… they were getting better after a few more practices, perhaps.
she cringes hard as they go down. with the way mina reacted to the collision, jiwon expects some kind of scolding—though, she has enough sense to expect that after any collision with another person. but as the other woman starts shaking, she cracks an eye open in shock.
soon, the changeling is flashing a goofy grin, unable to muffle her own amusement. “uh, just fine! i think you took the brunt of that fall.” she wets her lips, scrambling to her feet to dust herself off, then hold out a hand. “on that note: sorry, unnie. i wanted to spook you a bit, not send us both sprawling to the ground!” when she feels herself almost lose balance again, she looks down to find loose shoelaces under the soles of her sneakers. “spontaneity is going to backfire on me real bad, one of these days. not a doubt in my mind.”
jiwon kneels to tie her shoes with a shake of her head. “anyway! what about you? i’d hate for us to reschedule because i followed a random whim.” she clears her throat as she stands back up; hands gripping her bag again, she walks a quick circle around her friend. “i mean, i’d hate it more if we stuck to today’s plans if you’re hurting any. got to stay on the safe side, all that. but, oh, good! your clothes seem okay, at least.” she steps back just to twirl a safe distance from the other’s personal space, bright smile back on her face when she comes to a stop. “i’m good, too, i hope? hah.”
finally calm after the unexpected excitement, the changeling rolls her shoulders back, casting a glance around. thankfully, no one seems to pay much attention to them. “we should get going, then. before someone else bumps into us both!” she slips a hand into her pocket, pulling out her phone with a hum. “this isn’t related to practice, but i got pictures of some things i was wondering if you could… render accurately. my mind jumped to the question of how detailed you can make small things.” she turns to the other with a smile. “let me know when i’m getting too nosy, unnie! or treading into territory you’ve got all figured out.”
the plan is straightforward: ambush @hanmina13. the execution, however...
jiwon doesn’t have many chances to surprise someone without turning into a bird. for starters, she’s gotten used to forcing herself not to shock strangers for fun, learning the hard way that it’ll only get her unwanted recognition in the long run. for someone who thrives on seeing people’s reactions to her random shenanigans, it’s been dull as fuck having to cut back.
so, safely resettled in her hometown, and with a whole group of coven members to get familiar with, ( again, in some cases! by miraculous odds! ) this changeling is downright gleeful that she can let her guard down for some harmless fun. luckily for her, she’s got friends she can trust won’t change their mind after she pulls some shit—and luckily for them, she only feels like doing the bare minimum most days. take mina, for example; they’ve managed to bond after exploring their powers together a few times. jiwon? ( actively ) risk throwing away the friendship she’s just managed to forge? not in a million years.
they’re supposed to meet up for another such practice session today. jiwon is delighted to spot the other woman on the street a couple minutes early, hurriedly slipping around the corner before she can be spotted herself. her hold on the strap of her messenger bag tightens in anticipation; the only thing she can think of doing is simply running up behind her to startle her, but that’s often enough for a quick laugh.
when she runs out to catch up to the older woman, she’s got every step of the 3-step plan thought out: get really close, scream out a greeting, and enjoy the reaction. she’s so occupied with taking inhaling deep so she can yell a lot in one breath, she doesn’t notice her shoelaces have come untied until she trips forward, right into mina’s back. her intended annoying “unnie! unnie! unnie! hi!” becomes, “unnie, watch out!”

×× hello all, happy opening! \o/ i’m yelle, bringing you a dramatic, sometimes self-destructive trainwreck of a familiar in do jiwon. ( whoever decides to rp the witch she bonds with,, i’m sorry in advance. ) i’ve still got a few things to tweak, but profile, bio, and connection pages are all up for anyone interested! you can also find me on twt, tho ims here are probably your best bet for plotting. and, under the cut, everything you should know right off the bat about this mess.
so, let me just clear up rn, jiwon’s not usually as brooding as she seemed in her bio—she was just really, really deep in emo feels when she came home. once the idea of fleeing busan was thrown away, she returned to her normal persona: lively, but tactless, and possibly risking bruises if left unsupervised for long. to paraphrase: she’s here for a good time, not a long time.
jiwon’s history can be summed up as a cycle of fucking around, fucking something up to variable degrees, and attempting to start fresh somewhere else. a tragic car accident makes her leave busan after high school; various incidents send her to several cities across the country, one after another for over two years, and ultimately back home. the coven is the only reason the cycle’s broken, and even then, she’d be willing to start it back up again if her witch were willing to go with her.
on that note, if you look at the timeline i tacked onto the top of the bio page, you’ll notice there’s really not much there. that’s on purpose; if you want our muses to have met when she was a kid, or when she was in some other big city, or only after she found the coven, we should be able to work things out without a problem. the only thing to note is when she was outside busan: from february 2014 to august 2016.
that... is all, i think. i can’t wait to plot with all of you! this girl’s made light of things at nearly every turn; first to make sense of what she thought were unique powers, then to comprehend the coven and all the information they offered. that’s bound to inspire a range of reactions, right?
