The merge is over!

After a couple of long weeks of preparation, planning, and stress, Dena and I have successfully merged everything we own into a tiny apartment and a storage locker.

We still have a lot of stuff to go through, and many boxes that needs to be emptied and removed, but I think that the rest will be a smooth transition! The good news is that I like the layout of our place much better. There are separate areas for work and rest, and while there is no longer a home theater, my studio can double as an entertainment center for the time being.

My couple of week hiatus has really got me craving to get back to work and write some music. I preparing for my first lesson with Sean, so I'm not planning on having any goals (other than ear training) until then.

I am planning on finishing my other piece or writing something new this week!

Good things are happening. I finally have a teacher! I'm so excited! This is going to be a huge stepping stone for me.

My teacher is none other than award-winning composer Sean Beeson. You can hear some of his music on his site seanbeeson.com.

Based on what we discussed, I'm feeling confident that there will be marketed improvements in my compositions in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned and be amazed! (I hope....)

Week 15 and Week 16 Updates

You may have noticed that I haven't been posting music lately. You can rest easy knowing that I am still working on music composition and ear training almost every day. These last couple of weeks I have been focused on "day job" matters that have been leaving me with little time to sleep let alone keep "formal" track of what the hours I'm spending on music. In addition, my girlfriend is moving in with me. So, I've been preoccupied with packing and the linguistics of making this transition as smooth as possible. In other news, I'm hoping to accelerate my progress by getting a professional that I admire to teach me weekly! This means that I will be writing on a schedule, and using my dollars to hold me accountable for the progress! Once this is official, I will be blogging more about my lessons, so I can keep track of everything that is discussed. I'm really excited about this change of events, and I'm looking forward to a very productive second half of the year! Oh, and if you didn't yet, checkout my new "stub" (short musical fragment) called "Urgent Message" I think it is shows a new direction I'm learning about for strings!
