maybe eddie would be at the video store asking steve for horror recommendations and he hears it under someone’s breath and he whips around. and steve is so stunned because he’d been taunted and belittled before but slurs? thats new to him.

eddie would try to pick a fight (he’d win because the kid is like 15) and steve just tells him to let it go but eddie just can’t. he can’t let someone get away with that, it’s not fair to steve. but then steve just looks up at eddie and eddie knows he’s fucked because how can he say no to steve’s stupid little puppy dog eyes and stupid little pout.

steve wouldn’t admit it but he felt like crying in that moment. even if he wanted to admit it, he still wouldn’t. it would give eddie another reason to beat the shit out of the kid and steve really didn’t want to see his boyfriend behind bars today. (although, he did think eddie looked awfully cute when he flashed steve the shy smile from his cell when steve had to bail him out once)

when his shift finally ended and they were in the comfort of eddie’s trailer steve fell into eddie’s arms, fighting back tears while repeating a mantra of ‘i love you’s, and eddie honestly doesn’t know what to do except pull the boy closer and reaffirm every single ‘i love you’ he hears.
