This short film has really done a lot to convince me that we are missing a lot of really great opportunities to make sure that we don't fall into the "Bigger is Better" trap, and I'm sure you'll agree after watching this...

Here's a dream that's a little more like a nightmare... Take a look at this. If you have ever worked in or with an Agency, this is really, REALLY ironic!

Life and work is cyclical, as are seasons and learnings. I have been so totally provoked by the few bits and pieces of this book that I am going to buy it! For those of you who know me, this in itself is quite a twist... The timing of this all seems like it's magically tuned into everything that's going on in every part of my life, family and my spouse... It's a God moment! I love how the points raised challenge the norm and get straight to the point without fluffy words and commentary. I like that. So, take a look around and ask: "Am I happy with things as they are, or is it time for change... Again?" Stagnation is almost death.

At the Brand Review last Friday, one of the points made when reviewing the marketing and advertising done globally by South African Tourism was actually pretty interesting... "Non-traditional Digital" The thinking behind it needs to be explained I think, and also the inspiration. Far too often large and small organizations sit back and go for the same things they did, doing them the same way (aside from updating the campaign slogan or date and time), and then expect different results, or even success. No more true in agencies, who ever so ofter resell ideas to their clients if other clients did go for it, but usually after a few small tweaks here and there. This just isn't good enough anymore. Above the Line and Below the Line, even (now) Through the Line (online, mobile and digital) are becoming more and more stale and the good old interpution marketing techniques that worked in the 50ies haven't worked in the 90ies, and won't work much longer as the scales tip towards the new socially-aware, authentic seeking consumers who are online and consume ondemand. Here's where I think the idea sparked from, cause it's so true and so well captured in this clip. Enjoy!
