"Mon dieu," he muttered, stepping forward and running his hands over her curves. Y/N arched into his touch, a soft moan escaping her lips.

She reached for his shirt, her fingers fumbling with the buttons in her urgency to feel his skin against hers. Remy helped her, shrugging out of the garment and tossing it aside. One second you were standing in the middle of an unexpected battlefield, the next second you were standing in a sterile room with an almost deafening silence.

"Sit," you pointed to the table, ignoring his disappointed gaze.

As you tended to Gambit's injuries, you couldn't shake the feeling of unease that settled in the pit of your stomach and the disappointment radiating from Gambit.

"Don’t blame me for bringing us back here. You could have been seriously hurt out there!" you broke the silence.

Gambit's expression changed to something less disappointed as he took in your words, his understanding gaze meeting yours. "I know, chère, but sometimes ya gotta take risks to get da job done."

"Yeah, but you can stop pretending that everything is fine afterward," you shot back, "or even that everything will be fine while you’re in the middle of it," you argued.

Gambit raised an eyebrow at your words, his expression shifting to mild defensiveness. He let out a huff of air, his voice low and guarded as he responded.

"Pretendin'? I ain't pretendin' about nothin', cheré. I can handle myself in a fight, y'know dat."

"You call almost bleeding to death, almost every time, being able to handle yourself?" you defensively questioned while you tended his wound.

Gambit winced as you attended to his wound, his jaw clenched slightly at the sting of antiseptic. He shot you a sidelong glance, his usual charm and lightheartedness replaced by irritation.

"It was a scratch," he insisted, his voice gruff. "I've had worse."

"Yeah, I know you had worse, Remy," you reminded him, how you, almost every time he got hurt, were the one caring for him.

Gambit grumbled under his breath as you brought up his reckless tendencies. He knew that you were right—you've always been the one to patch him up after every injury, every mission gone wrong. But he's stubborn and prideful, and he doesn't like being reminded of his own vulnerability.

He muttered something under his breath, begrudgingly admitting your point. "Yeah, well, somebody's gotta take the hits, right?"

"Yeah, how about you leave that for the guy who heals within seconds or the one who can move everything with her mind. How about not the guy who can’t do any of those?" you shot back.

Gambit let out a frustrated sigh, knowing that you've got him there.

He groaned, realizing that you're not letting him off the hook yet either, accepting that he's not getting out of this conversation.

"Fine, fine," he muttered, his shoulders sagging. "What do ya want me to say, cheré? Ya know I can't just sit on the sidelines when there's a fight goin' on."

"I'm not saying that you should just stand aside. I'm saying that you don't have to throw yourself at any shining knife," you argued. Gambit let out a huff, his expression stormy as he bristled at your words. He knew that you had a point, but he's never been one to shy away from danger.

"Y'know I can handle myself out there," he countered, his voice tinged with frustration. "I don't need ya fussin' over me like a mother hen."

You shot him a hurt look but retreated to cleaning his wound in silence.

After that, you cleaned up the supplies, still in silence. As you were about to leave the medical bay, Remy’s voice rang out.

"Y/N—look—"

"No, you’re right. Who am I to care about you?" you interrupted him as you proceeded to walk out of the room.

With a muttered curse, he pushed himself up from the table, ignoring the protests from his injured body. He staggered out into the halls, trying to catch up to you despite the pain coursing through him, only to see you vanishing in the elevator.

All of a sudden coming to a halt, he felt a hand on his shoulder stopping him from going any further.

"Better apologize now. That girl is stubborn."

"How much did you hear, Morph?" Gambit asked, almost annoyed.

"Enough to know that she’s in the right, you’re in the wrong," Morph laughed.

"I can handle myself, nothin' I haven’t felt before."

"Probably, but you’re not the only one hurting when that happens," and with that, they proceeded to go down the halls like that conversation never happened, leaving Remy to realize his mistake.

He immediately made his way upstairs to find you in your office. A slight knock on the doorframe caught your attention.

"Can I talk to you?" he asked.

"Sure," you answered coldly.

"I know I was reckless and careless, and I put myself at risk. Again.“ he started “But more than that, I hurt you. And that's the last thing I ever wanted to do," he explained, and your expression started to soften.

"And I promise to be more careful from now on. I-" He took your hand in his.

You started smiling, knowing where this was going to end.

"I care about you, y’know. More than I thought possible. And da thought of hurting ya‘... it eats me up inside, cheré" He paused. "Ah‘ don't know when it happened, when the fun flirtin' and banter started to feel like somethin' more. But ah‘ know dat I don't want to lose whatever it is that we have, cheré," he admitted.

And with that, you closed the gap between you two.

The moment your lips met his, Gambit was lost. The world seemed to disappear around them as he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you closer. His kiss was deep and passionate, a mixture of relief and desire. He'd wanted this for so long, and finally, it was happening.

Always stare at her and zoom out when she walks by, once you mention her you cant stop talking about her, Y/N did this today, Y/N ate that today, oh look this t-shirt has the same color as Y/N's eyes, Y/N-...« the seventeen year old mocked the team-leader. »Okay I got it, but would you keep it quiet.«

»Only if you ask her out« Jubilee challenged Scott.

»Jubes why would she want to go on a date with me. We barely talk and-« »Barely talk« She scoffed ironically »You two talk for hours ones you guys stumble across your guys way, trust me Scott, I got my reasons and really, really, really good sources that tell me, she'll definitely, 100% would go out on a date with you when you ask her« She took another bite of her gold-brown toasted sandwich.

»If you don't do it I'll do it for you« she shrugged and was about to hop of her seat just before Scott could grab her wrist, in a rather hectic motion.

»Ok, Ok. I'll ask her, just, you know not in the next few hours.«

»Within the next 36 hours, which gives you time till tomorrow 8 p.m.« Jubilee grabbed her sandwich and with one smooth nod, she made her pink sunglasses drop down from her head to her nose and walked off, god knows where.

'Okay, no big deal, you just go to her and start some smalltalk, ask her if she's interested in going on a date and the rest is up to her.' Summers told himself.

He stood up from the table while taking the last sip of his coffee and made his way down to start a long day of work and when this one was done, he would ask the girl that was able to make him blush, out.

The girl that sometimes lets her temperament get the best of her.

The girl that wasn't afraid to even call Logan out.

A few hours have passed and Jubilee made her way towards the control room of the danger room, with a bag filled with burgers.

»Soooo did you ask her out already?« Jubilee walked into the control room with Scott sitting on one of the three chairs in front of tons of buttons.

He just turned around with his lips pursed together.

Because much to Jubilees surprise right next to him was Y/N with a confused look on her face.

»You know what Scott, I'm just gonna leave this here ... « And placed the bag of burgers on a small table »... and leave you two alone« and made a 180° turn to leave as promised.

Scott now getting back to his original position starring at some invisible point in front of him still lips pursed together.

»Soo who is the lucky lady you are planning on asking out?« Y/N asked in a sarcastic voice and bumped the shoulder of the man next to her.

»Uh..« 'now or never Scott' » It's actually you.«

»Oh.« Y/N took a second, because she was genuinely surprised by his respond.

She had never expected Scott to be even remotely interested in her.

Was she interested in him? Definitely.

»So what are you waiting for?« she asked him him, now completely facing him, but him still not daring to look at her.

»Enough confidence to accept being rejected, I guess.«

»And what if there is no rejection to accept?«

He turned his head around looking into her eyes, consuming every single detail, wether its the slightly different colored dot or the tiny transitions between shades.

»Well than I'd be really happy and looking forward to the date with the most beautiful woman looks and personality wise.«

»Well, then why not ask now...«

"The girl that-" ... made him forget everything else.

»Would you like to go on a date with me?«

»I'd love to Summers.«

A big smile grew onto Scott's face.

»Then just dress nice, I'll pick you up at 7 and the rest is a surprise.«
