hi, I'm wondering, are you still working on QuirkAssist? also, how can I use it on mac? the mediafire site claims it's macOS compatible, but attempting to run it on mac does not work, since .exe files are incompatible.
Hey! I don’t really do active development for QuirkAssist any more at the moment. Unfortunately, it only works with Windows at the moment. It’s built with Auto Hot Key, and that program only works for Windows. MediaFire claims it is compatible with macOS because MediaFire only knows about the zip file, not the contents. MediaFire is basically saying “You can unzip this on macOS” and not much more, that seems misleading to me!
I’ve tried a few times to develop a multi-platform version of QuirkAssist, but it would involve writing the program from scratch using low level keyboard hooks, with different hooks written for different operating systems. That would involve a lot of time and effort, and I just haven’t had that.
If you’re technically savvy yourself, you could try and find/build your own macOS alternative, but I don’t know what options are available. If it helps, you can open the QuirkAssist exe file in notepad (or equivalent) to see the code I wrote.
Hope this helps!
