alright i don’t know if i’ve shared this headcanon but i got it into my head that percy and annabeth would both shave their heads after the war???

i think it’s mentioned in boo that their hair is quite wiry and dull, and i imagine it wouldn’t return to it’s previous godly lushnuss any time soon

so percy brings it up one time, all casual, like. We should just shave it off.

(lets say A’s head is in his lap and he’s running his fingers through her hair and she’s complaining about how awful and knotty it is all the time)

and she goes, Yes. That’s it, we should totally do that.

he waits a few moments for her to tell him that she’s just kidding

but she isn’t

and because they’re teenage demigods, they’re impulsive and ridiculous and they just fucking do it

they go over to the Ares cabin and borrow Clarisse’s electric shaver, bcs of course she has one

and after making up some lame excuse to her siblings for needing to borrow them, they go into the bathroom of cabin three and take turns shaving each other’s hair off

annabeth’s takes a lot longer obviously and percy has to cut a lot off before they can shave it because there’s SO MUCH of it and it’s kinda frizzy and enormous

they do a fuck awful job of it and have little tufts everywhere and when they both first stand in front of the mirror next to one another and properly appraise themselves, they die laughing for a few minutes

then they make out for a bit

then they go and find someone from the aphrodite cabin to sort it out, because someone there has to know how to fix this, right?

a few of them cry at the sight of them at first

but then they get to work

P and A sit opposite each other as they get tidied up, pulling faces and laughing like big fucking kids

everyone’s reactions are just fucking priceless

piper can’t stop rubbing her hands over annabeth’s head and laughing, telling her that she’s definitely getting an undercut now

jason gives percy a noogie until he gets kicked off

hazel keeps saying how pretty annabeth is. like. she’s so pretty. how? how is she such a majestic being???

leo dubs them both as furiosa and mad max. the names stick.

frank tells percy that he’d had his hair shaved off when he first joined camp jupiter and would never go back cause his head kept getting cold. bless his soul.

clarisse begrudgingly admits that they look pretty badass before blowing up about the fact that they used HER shaver without her permission

sally looks mildly traumatised for a few beats before she makes a cup of tea and Calms Down about the whole thing because it could be a lot worse

they could have gotten matching face tattoos, for instance

“Yes, thank you, Paul. Please don’t give them ideas.”

they get stared at for a while around camp but eventually people get used to it

they still get stared at a lot though because they do look pretty badass and very pretty

and then when it starts to grow back!! all soft and curly and ahh

grover is constantly making flower crowns for them both because it’s the perfect length and they look cute af

they’re both always running their hands through each other’s short hair when they’re making out or just chillin bcs it’s so soft and nice

and it’s so healthy

for the first time since Tartarus, they are both starting to feel healthy again

they’ve been building up their fitness again and no longer lose their breath so quickly (with help from Chiron)

they’ve talked and talked and talked, with each other and with their friends and parents and chiron, about everything, and they are starting to heal on the inside too

but because this is such a physical difference, they both really start to appreciate how much they’ve healed and changed and grown

because, like, that’s the seldom-portrayed romantic dream in the patriarchal hellscape that is our world, isn’t it?

a dude being willing to say, “i understand if you don’t feel the same way about me, and i’ll leave you alone forever about this if my attention is unwanted.”

Then I was rewatching Mad Max Fury Road the other day and I noticed that nothing bothered me about watching Furiosa fight and I realized the problem wasn’t watching women fight in movies that got on my nerves.

Watching the stereotypical Badass Female Character she always has these effortless moves and a cocky, sexy smirk on her face as everything is easy. Watching Furiosa, she grunted and bared her teeth. Her fighting was hard and it took effort and it hurt like fighting is supposed to. For once her fighting style wasn’t supposed to seduce the audience it was to be effective.

I wasn’t disliking these characters because they were women I was disliking that their fighting was meant to remind me they were women. High heels and shapely outfits and not showing effort or discomfort because it’s more attractive to effortlessly lift a long leather clad leg over your head rather than rugby tackle someone.

It’s the same with the Wonder Woman movie too. Fighting is hard and it takes effort, blocking bombs and bullets with a shield makes her grimace and bare her teeth with the effort it takes. She’s not flip kicking bombs she’s yelling and straining, not because she’s weak or bad at fighting but because that’s what it would be like.

No. Just NO.

And I really feel like there are parts of fandom that don’t get or don’t believe this, and I think that’s troubling.  I’ve seen arguments that people shouldn’t have dark fantasies, or that bad impulses in themselves make a bad person.  I’ve seen so much shaming over thoughts.
