Since I posted a photo of @hnotgrass placenta cake the other night, the topic of eating your own placenta came up on the thread so I thought this would be perfect for tonight's discussion!!! The cool thing to do right now is to eat your own placenta! It has been done by many cultures for centuries but recently it is gaining popularity again. There are many theories that ingesting your own placenta after giving birth helps with things like a good milk supply and reducing your risk of post partum depression. Most of these are just claims and "user reviews" from people who have also ingested their own placenta, but the truth is there is little scientific research to back these claims. There is also little scientific evidence to support that eating your own placenta is a complete waste of time- so this is also something to consider when making your decision. Other mammal species ingest their placentas raw immediately after giving birth and this has somehow been translated into convincing humans this is something we should do now too. (Hopefully it never becomes a fad to eat your own shit like dogs do). Most humans could not stomach eating their own placentas raw- trust me I've touched thousands of these things in my career and they look like bloody steaks (2nd and 3rd photos). But it's not steak. It's an organ that you made filled with blood and waste products that you expelled out of your vagina. It came out for a reason! Your body don't want that no mo!! The solution: turn the placenta into pills that can be easily swallowed. This makes it more tolerable for humans to eat. None of this process is regulated by the FDA and there is no scientific research that states the placenta has any magic powers once it has been cooked up and processed. With all of this information what would you do or what did you do with your placenta? Did you trash your placenta, eat it, or keep it in a jar in your foyer like I did! WTF???? Comment below⬇️
