Time to Get back to Books and Fun
Okay, I canceled facebook and instagram (many reasons including hate filled rants, enemies of the state, a new Meta dystopian vision of the future, etc.) but then found myself getting sucked down a twitter political habit hole. I was on the phone hearting and retweeting and commenting like a mad man. So…break from politics. At least for a few days. I’m supposed to be having conversations about books, movies, and Dungeons and Dragons. Oh, and promoting my books, The Scarlet Hopewell Series and Pillaging the Sun.
So, here it goes, in rapid succession as this was originally a tweet and then twitter suggested I use their new newsletter application Revue and then I decided to also attach to the website:
I’m currently reading Dr. No, Cloud Cuckoo Land and listening to From Russia W/ Love on Audible. I adore audio books and am still reeling from No Time to Die, so I’ve found myself in a bit of a Bond kick. I’m finding a strange juxtaposition between well written female characters and a complex male protagonist and then straight up misogyny and horrible violence toward women. Ian Fleming was a weird guy. Perhaps it was the times, not that it excuses anything, only explains. That being said, I’m loving Daniel Craig’s treatment of the character more and more. It is as if he took all that was good about Bond and then elevated the material. Next up is Steppenwolf and Circe.
I’m playing in a campaign my best friend is running set in Eberron. I’m still hoping to create an original DnD setting that is archipelago based, but I’ve been pretty swamped lately keeping up with Pillaging and beginning work on the audio books for the Scarlet Hopewell series. I have not caught up on Critical Role. I just watched a mini Friends marathon and illogically, I now miss them like they were real people. Trying to read and write more, spend less time on my phone and work off my love handles. How about you all?
I’m going to try and get something, short or long, out every Monday. Please subscribe here or on twitter and drop me a line. You can download the latest chapter of Pillaging the Sun on Vella, then head over here for bit of a discussion. I would love to talk about something other than politics and hear about what you’re reading and why you love my books so much. Okay, that was a bit cheeky, but seriously though, what do you love about them?
