Wow, I haven’t done any self-promotion here since… Crestoria Week? Really?

I think I should do a 2022 Fic Round-Up because I wrote 43 separate one-shots last year (and made updates on a few WIPs)! Most of that output was because I wrote a lot of gift fics and filled a lot of prompts, but I’m still proud of myself for executing and completing ideas! Who knew getting back into Tales fandom would spark so much creativity?

Gonna organize by rating and word count instead of chronological order. And they’re all under a cut to save your dash (sorry, mobile users).

The event will take place March 8th through March 14th, 2023.

Any and all fan creations are encouraged: fanfiction, fanart, cosplay, meta, headcanons, graphic edits, YouTube videos... whatever your love for the game inspires!

The prompt theme for this year is unlikely parallels. Feel free to use any or all (or none!) for each daily prompt. The point is to celebrate Tales of the Abyss however you choose.

In the new world after the Score goes silent, Kimlasca’s princess has to  find her way through her circling suitors, and through the plans of  those who most wish her harm. Even with so much to worry about now, her  heart remains in the past, unwilling to forget the one she left behind. 

Chapter Three: Lost on a mountain, Natalia finds an unexpected rescuer.

Flynn didn’t move. He didn’t respond to the voices of his subordinates. It almost seemed he couldn’t move because he was torn between his inner thoughts and the position he held.

So I may have bought the Judith novels and this line is from volume 2. This volume is much different from volume 1 in that it’s mostly a retelling of the game through Judith’s eyes, so (imo) it’s not as focused on the worldbuilding as volume 1.

(And for those that may be curious: Yes. The second volume glosses over Yuri’s “death” at Zaude so quickly it’s actually kinda funny. No one angsts over Yuri, it seems.)

Anyway, the scene I translated is in Nordipolica after Belius’ death, where Flynn tries taking the Apatheia. Judith picking up on why Flynn is struggling and even realizing that he’s got his own battles is incredibly observant of her considering she doesn’t even know Flynn (the novels are not based off the PS3 version). It’s Flynn & Judith canonical… “interaction” and I will take it.

“And we’ve got as much clues as there are coral branches in a dead sea.”

Yuri didn’t know what to make of Patty’s artful comparison.

I’m eventually going to publish a Flynn/Judith chapter-fic, but YuriLuke is on my list as well as Lukestelle… For non-Tales, I have a one shot Claude & f!Shez & m!Byleth (mostly Claude & m!Byleth, but yeah).

Mystery and Horror.

Enemies -> Friends -> Lovers. But I like Reincarnated Lovers, too.

1st person/2nd person. I had a one shot of Guy and Tear in these perspectives cause it was a pen pal one shot, but never knew how to start it.

I want an XC3!AU for Tales lol In all seriousness, Reincarnation AU or Isekai is a guilty pleasure.

I don’t understand this one.

I think I’m done working with others XD;; Won’t say no if a friend offers, but I’d rather just stick to what I wanna create…

Editing. NaNoWriMo really kicked me in the teeth as far as editing went, and I found I don’t hate editing as much as I thought. But it’s a definite thing I need to get into a lot more. I also want to lay back on just. Posting everything I write. I’m good at doing this for art, but writing? If I write smth that’s only 600-ish words that took me 30 minutes to write, I don’t want to go on ao3 and upload it. I want to get into the habit of writing and not sharing it with the public. Longer one shots that legit took time? I’ll share those.

1) A Ship You Want to Write: I’m hoping I can write some follow-ups to some of my pre-existing Tales of crossover ship fics and continue to spread this disease of ultra-rarepair pairings only I will create for lol. Another goal is to start looking outside my usual pool of favorite ship/characters and experiment with new dynamics.

2) A Genre You Want to Write: More horror of all flavors of course, maybe stuff involving political intrigue and espionage? Mystery too.

3) Word Count You Want to Surpass: 100k-150k, ambitious yes but I've done it before so bring on the challenge!

4) Tropes You Want to Incorporate: Paranoia and Mass Hysteria respectively (I know I'm lovely hahaha), Surprisingly I haven't written all that many childhood friends to lovers fic so maybe some more of those.

5) A POV You Want to Try: First-Person, I hope to start experimenting with it since I'm using it more for my original works.

6) An Au You Want to Write: I've recently started to write a Velvet/Eleanor Spy x Family AU which I'm hoping I can publish at least the first half of it sometime this year give or take. Another AU I’m interested in is for “To Your Eternity”, I really want to make a canon divergence where Parona has a more extensive role in the Jananda Arc.

7) A Resource You Want to Use: Give me all your medical textbooks so I can use them to write horrific whump fics.

8) A Friend You’d Like to Collab With: I've never actually done a collaboration before so I guess if someone could put up with my balls-to-the-wall style then maybe lol

9) Something You Want to Improve: I want to learn how to keep a consistent mood, a lot of my fics have extreme highs and lows with little in-between or transition so maybe just some more subtly as a whole nahahha
