I got my period this morning so I was grumpy and deeply dissatisfied with the world. I sat outside next to my zuchini plant and just looked at it. My thoughts drifted to how this must be the most perfect plant on the planet and I'm so lucky to have it. Soon it would flower and hopefully the bees would--
I then looked around in realization. I had not seen a single bee on my property.
I had a bunch of wild flowers, but they all had very tiny flower heads and it seemed that bees weren't into those. My neighbours? Grew no flowers. Next to my property? A swamp. No flowers.
I would not have time to grow flowers to invite the bees over, and also I think wasps and hornets like to scare the bees away. And I have lots of those.
I walked around to check on all the flowers. I spotted only a single bee. I asked if she would pollinate my zuc- she flew away before I finished.
I might have to hand-pollinate my zuchini plants so they could bear fruit, if the bees are not called over by their big flowers. It's not hard, just brushing with the paintbrush, but I don't wanna do it. That's a bee job. I wonder if the wasps could be manipulated into it. With a power point presentation or something.
