This is of course not that uncommon and occurs in other religious spheres (Neo-Nazis/extremist RWers within European polytheisms or pagan traditions, etc, being an example). I’m not sure about Tumblr but it occurs a lot on X/Twitter (go figure!).

P.S. I am well-aware of the anger that arises in many Iranians due to the historic Islamic persecution of Mazdāyasna and our communities. Especially by Shi’a dynasties such as the Safavids (yeah, contrary to popular belief, the Safavid political and religious reformation of Iran was particularly harsh on Mazdaens! Not to mention other communities!). I’m also WELL-AWARE of the theocratic abuse and oppression inflicted on Iran’s current population.

I found them in lots of ways. I asked my mutual @suraanahita for recommendations and was given a contact for a Zoroastrian sensitivity reader on another platform. I also hired other mutuals @jewishlancelot, @waleweinn, and found my editor Paul McLerran, a fellow Gawain author and Zoroastrian enthusiast, through a now defunct Facebook writing group (scary, I know). That was a happy accident when I posted art of Mahtab and Gawain I made which prompted him to ask where he could read about them (the book wasn't edited yet, the rest is history!). It took years and I networked continuously during the writing process so that when it came time to revise and edit the completed book, I had people on lock waiting to help.

Before that I had contacted multiple different "beta reader" agencies but none of them could provide appropriate readers for my highly specific needs. So I had to scout them myself one at a time from all over the internet and world by befriending people myself. Maybe someone in a better financial or academic position than I'm in would have an easier time making those connections through an institution or their publisher, but it is possible to do it the "hard" way.

As it is, I intend to hire even more readers for future books. The more the merrier in my opinion. I don't take 100% of the feedback I get, but all feedback gives perspective.
