OKAY I DON’T ACTUALLY HAVE MUCH TO SAY ABOUT THIS LINE I JUST WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE ZOOFLES’ LYRICAL GENIUS. HONESTLY IN LOVE WITH THE WORD CHOICE HERE “MOURNING” IS ASSOCIATED WITH DEATH AND THAT’S JUST SO FUN. i also really like the rhyme it fits so so well and ajsjs7hs7shushssmksiwi82n8. yeah there’s not much to analyze here since this one pretty much a literal line but i really like it so it’s here anyway 👍

maybe the mountain here represents an obstacle? where in this case the neglect/abuse is the obstacle and the “hole” is of course the effect of it i dunno,,,,,,,,, could also be something like mountains and valleys but then the mountain would most likely be a high and that seems improbable considering the message of the song 😭😭

also “deep” is describing both the hole AND the mountain SKJSKSJISJS8JSOKS . deep could mean extreme for the mountain maybe???? an extreme obstacle, which in this case is neglect/abuse?? (it could also mean deep into something which would signal a form of isolation, much like the babylon tower part)

OF COURSE GOTTA TALK ABOUT THE OPENING LINES JABHSNSJSSJKHSKJHSS 🔥🔥🔥🔥🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶🫶 there’s no talking or people or people interactions and i feel like i need to mention that. there’s obviously a huge rift between the abuser & victims and this whole description just feels that way. no people, super quiet, eerily quiet in a way (like something is going to go wrong/bad).

OH AND THE KEYS. the jangle of keys usually means someone is entering ! the ! house ! which is most likely the adult (as this song is about abuse/neglect at a young age) ! so that could be interpreted in a variety of ways too (i see it as the children maybe hiding or trying to not agitate anyone or something like that 🔥🔥)

the doors being abandoned and “not taken care of” (for the lack of a better descriptor) could represent the lack of attention & care there i think. as in the entrances, the openings, the doors to the place that is home are horribly managed and untouched because of an irresponsible & neglectful caretaker yk. this isn’t a great description in general but i hope the meaning gets through 😭😭😭

I LOVE THE MULTIPLE FACETS OF THIS PART TOO. of course there’s more than a few metaphorical bits and pieces (AMAZING) but i’d like to say something about the literal picture. as in a form of neglect. a common form of neglect is hoarding/not cleaning on an extreme level when you have children (can actually lead them to form OCD) and i think that should be mentioned along with the metaphors.

weeds & ants are associated with invasiveness and just negative situations in general, so maybe by saying that they “think this is their home” it represents the overwhelming negatives in the environment/home they’re in. and yk the conditions are gnawing at the bones, gnawing at at person’s structure and self in a way. I HOPE THIS IS ALL CLEAR AHHHSSJHKJJSSOJ

i don’t actually have a lot to say here since you’ve already done this line and it wouldn’t be very interesting if i just rephrased everything you said but i 100% agree. it’s such an interesting section and YES 💯 nods my head peak insights omg. love it
