#zeta plus

Cutting it real close posting one last kit for the year but this time I have the HGUC Zeta plus (Unicorn ver.) done in a custom paint job! Like my previous works it is hand painted using Mr. Hobby Aqueous paints.

I was originally going to go with a different color scheme but ended up changing my mind after seeing the Nero from Gundam Sentinel, the Robot Spirits Ka Signature specifically, and falling in love with the teal color that figure had. So I decided to try to mimic it (in this case a mix of Aqueous H-45 Light Blue & H-46 Emerald Green) and lay it out like the Zeta plus test color type, and it turned out great! It ended up more on the blue side but it's still a gorgeous color, really one of my favorites.

And that makes 5 painted kits for 2024. I hope to match that number in 2025 but with a backlog like this we'll see, maybe I get more done. My next project, the HGUC Messer, is already underway and should be done before the end of January, just in time for another contest at my local shop. It's been a fun one so far and I'm excited to finish it. For now though, I do hope you've enjoyed the holidays and have a happy new year! ✌🏼

I don’t know why I love this suit, but I do. It’s chunky as fuck, really flexible despite this and taller than the most other mobile suits. Yet they still arm it with a peewee Jegan rifle? Nope! I gave mine a beam bazooka from one of the Build Campaign sets instead, it seemed a more fitting weapon than the itty bitty peashooter it came with. Not to mention the weapon holding hand has issues holding any gun, the beam rifle flops about and even the bazooka takes some time to secure.

This kit is very well detailed and very fun to put together. Just watch out for the torso ball joint, it really likes to com apart if you lift it from above the waistline. The kit had very little stickers and I barely used any of them, only the scope on the gun and the black stripes on the legs. I did, however, use the silver foil of the sticker sheet to make chrome strips behind the visors, rather than cover them with a bland one.

The articulation is really good for a kit this chunky. The legs have a nice mechanism that allows for a double jointed knee. Same kind of articulation is present in the arms at the shoulder, allowing the arms a full range of movement unhindered by the extra armor.
