Something about Zeref really being a victim of those teachers, who doomed him when they invoked the name of Ankhseram. And then, after hundreds of years -
Mavis invokes the name. Not having encroached on matters of life and death, she's not at risk of falling victim to the curse.
But, when she asks Zeref to teach her and her friends magic in desperation, he quickly recognizes she could be.
And the temptation - the temptation to entice someone vulnerable, someone that he likes and respects, to entice her - to join him in his unending, cursed life...is just a little too delicious.
He taught her Law which, if completed, could fulfill the final requirement necessary to fall to the Curse of Contradiction.
How could he not? When all the dominoes lined up so perfectly.
When she'd invoked the name so willingly.

If you know me, you know Mavis and Zeref are my absolute favourite characters of all time! So they were the first two Mii’s I created when I started playing Tomodachi life recently.
They both crushed on each other for a reaaally long time, then took forever to get married 😅 and even after that, they both took their sweet ass time getting to the August portion of their story!
But he’s here now! And he’s loved and acknowledged by both his parents and every time he calls them “mum and Dad” or they call his their “child” or “son” I cry a few happy tears.
Who knew you could get so worked up over little digital characters on a screen? But gods damn it I’m completely attached and I’ve spoiled all of them rotten 😭
Even after Zeref showed the worst side of himself, the narrative’s sympathy for him did not completely disappear. The story averted the possibility of making him suffer even more than he already has by giving him what he always wanted through the kindest, most merciful option.
Okay, but ships with this dynamic is what drive me insane :
"Merely haunting your narrative isn't enough, I'm afraid. No, I must weave myself into your story in such a way that any attempt to cut me out leaves the whole thing incoherent."

Zeref is actually one of the saddest bad guys ever created. He lost his little brother, so dedicated his very intelligent mind to trying to bring him back out of grief. In doing so, he was cursed to kill everything around him (if he cared about the things around him, which he did) and found out by murdering his entire home city. He wandered around places without as much life, isolating himself and searching for ways to die. In doing so, he created life that was much more powerful than any human being (demons from the books of Zeref) in hopes they could kill him (they couldn't).
He finally managed to fall in love and the person he falls in love with even developed the same curse and he thought he would finally have companionship and then his curse fucking kills her immediately. Even while he's suffering, he's aware of the threat Acnologia poses and does everything he can do to try and stop him from hurting people, inclduing creating a continent with some of the most powerful magic users. Then finally, after over 400 years, he snaps and decides that he doesn't care about life anymore and he needs to create a new world. Like, I'm shocked it took that long.

Zeref bỏ tài sản trong không gian requip và cho đem chìa khóa cho Mavis. Bằng chứng là mẻ Mavis không tiếng động lấy quyển sách END mà lão đ biết, đến tận khi Lucy viết lại sách mới ngớ ra mất mịa sách rồi. Chưa kết hôn mà đã vậy rồi chờ cưới xong là chắc anh ta dâng cái đế chế cho mẻ luôn quá😌
Headcanon:
Zeref leaves the property in the his own requip space and gives Mavis access right. So that Mavis silently took the END book without him knowing. It was not until Lucy rewrited the book that he realized that the book was lost.
