Zexion wants people to do their work, but he's also patient, especially in the manga seems to enjoy mundane and domestic activities in his off-time, and being so much of a thinker would love to study and figure someone out like a puzzle.

Demyx is a slacker who tries to worm out of work he doesn't like to do, and he's been stated as being mainly for recon, but in 3 and even moreso in the manga he is entirely willing to work if there's a motivator he can get behind, and also struggles with many tasks outside of just not wanting to do things. His character file even has him saying that he's not cut out for fighting and doesn't like to do things that're painful.

So it tracks that someone who's patient could figure out a way to work well with someone who just needs the right sort of motivation and lineup of tasks, and someone who wants to have fun could pull in someone who acts so serious but enjoys smaller things like that in his offtime.

But I don't know maybe I'm just obsessed lol. They're cute.
