Fun loz fact of a random day: at least half of the NPCs from Triforce Heroes are exact copies ones from ALBW, other than the fact that they have rounded ears and are occasionally recolored.
This was clearly a cost and time saving measure, but as someone writing a fic including many of these characters, I am interested in the implications. Do I have any idea or theories on what they are? NO!
Examples under the cut:
The Girl, Papa, Captain, and Stylish Woman from ALBW :
Mimi, Mr. Undercut, Coliseum Receptionist, and the Stylish Woman from TFH:

In regards to On the Road Chapter 8, when the owner of the curiosity shop is describing ReDeads, I based part of his description on this idea, found in Master Works. (This was translated directly from Master Works by QuestWithAaron and likely has different wording from the localized version, Secrets of the Zonai.)
Even before obtaining the Secret Stone, Ganondorf had created a false Princess Zelda, using her to carry out clandestine activities within Hyrule Castle. Clearly, these impostors were not merely created by the Demon King's magic. Could this, then, be attributed to an ancient secret art of the Gerudo?
It is said that the ancient Gerudo tribe possessed the ability to control evil spirits, using strange animal bones and earth. They crafted something akin to clay dolls, imbuing them with wicked souls to become their puppets. Princess Zelda herself mockingly referred to her impostor as Ganondorf’s "puppet," and indeed, she was exactly right. Given the Gerudo's historical practices, Zelda may have seen through this dark art. It’s likely Demon King Ganondorf used this technique even in the present day, employing it to carry out reconnaissance missions while conserving his own dark magic as much as possible.
Given references to clay in descriptions of ReDeads in Smash Bros, I figured the method of creating those monsters might be similar. Thus, the shopkeeper's description in that chapter of Interlink:
"Yes, a place of sand and a history of exotic rituals. As the creature's name would suggest, it was created using the remains of the dead. Imagine your corpse being used to give a sort of life to a shambling doll, kept together by this mask. The screams it produced could paralyze the victim, allowing it to take its time to wrap its victim in a deadly embrace."
The worst thing about the Ocarina of Time remake, regardless of any creative decision on Nintendo's part, is the fact that lore YouTubers and fan theorists will appeal to this as the "definitive" version, over and against the original game. And I've already seen this happening, just with the Nintendo Direct teaser!
The games have been pretty inconsistent about when the Triforce mark appears on someone's hand, and what it means when it happens. The original Ocarina of Time only has the glowing triangles appear after the Triforce has been split, as an indicator that 1. These people bear parts of the Triforce, and 2. They are near other bearers. This is picked up by Wind Waker, which only has the triangle appear on Link's hand after he's reformed the broken Triforce of Courage.
Twilight Princess gives Link a Triforce birthmark, indicating that he inherited the Triforce of Courage from the Hero of Time. This calls back to Zelda II, which introduced the idea of the Triforce appearing on someone's hand as an indication that they're capable of bearing the Triforce, not that they already have it.
The new teaser directly contradicts Ocarina of Time's original depiction, having the Triforce mark glow on Link's hand before the game has even begun. It's close to that Zelda II version, if anything, and I've already seen YouTubers insisting that this proves that version was "always correct."
To be clear, I'm not saying that view is "wrong." It seems likely that the remake is going to lean toward that version of it. But that doesn't affect the plain text of the original game! This is a new story, engaging with and reimagining elements of the older one. It's not a truer, clearer view of what was always going on under the surface, because none of this was ever real.
What's your favorite piece of lore from The Legend of Zelda?
Or even a favorite theory?
My favorite piece of lore is a bit basic, but I really like The Hero's Shade being Oot Link. I just find it neat.
My favorite theory BY FAR will always be the theory that like the Ikanians built a sort of Tower of Babel. I don't care if it's been disproved or not (has it? I have to check), I find it incredibly interesting, so that's why it's my favorite. I've watched and read dozens, if not hundreds of Zelda theories, so this was hard to decide lmao.
Lore is my favorite part of video games (and especially The Legend of Zelda!) so uh I was curious about other people's opinions!
Hello! I recently discover your Tumblr. I would consider myself a casual fan of Zelda here, having played a few of its titles, and knowing the general lore of the series. One of the things that fascinated me about your blog is your love for TP Zelink. From observing the community, I know that TP Zelink is a very rare pair in general, especially in comparison to the most popular Midlink. I can understand why some people ship OoT Zelink, but I'm curious to hear your perspective on what is it about the original TP narrative that made you gravitate to the idea of Zelink.
Hi there! You've come to the right place hehehe. I'm always so happy to talk about my beloved TP Zelink :D
Well, if you want the short answer on why I ship Link and Zelda in that game, it's mostly because I played it when I was young and I just always thought their characters belonged together 😂 A hero who saves the day deserves a princess—that sort of thing haha. But I was also influenced by Super Smash Bros Brawl (shoutout to the Subspace Emissary) for featuring a lot of TP Zelink shipping potential in its cutscenes 👀 But yeah. For most of my life, I didn't really know why I shipped them. It just felt right to me. In my book, every Link ends up with his Zelda, so why not these two?
However, after devoting so much time to thinking about them and just having general discussions with others, my thoughts have shifted. I now wholeheartedly believe that Link and Zelda are right for each other.
Incoherent rambling below the cut 😂
Basically, most of TP Zelink boils down to postgame potential, and how similar Link and Zelda's characters are!
Link and Zelda have similar values and personalities imo. They are selfless, kind, and always put others first. We see this in Link, always willing to help his friends and neighbors with their daily chores, and also being willing to become a hero and save his kingdom in crisis. We see this in Zelda, always willing to sacrifice herself for the good of her people. She sacrifices herself to save Hyrule from Zant. She sacrifices herself to save Midna from death. And she always shows so much sympathy and humility in every interaction she has with others.
So I really just think that both Link and Zelda would get along nicely. Sure, they're from different backgrounds, but when it comes down to their goals and values, they are pretty much perfectly in sync. Save others. Stand up for what's right. And they always spare little concern for themselves 🥺
Now let's get to the post game of TP. Zelda owes so much to Link. He's saved everything she's lost. She would be immensely grateful to him and I think she would definitely want to stay in contact. Assuming that Hyrule needs some sort of reconstruction after the invasion, Link could prove to be a big help! Seeing as he's so well connected and respected by the various people of Hyrule. Need to reconnect with the Gorons and Zoras? Ask Link, the man who saved them, to be your ambassador. Need help with the Bulblins? They've already surrendered to Link and might even prove loyal to him. The guy is just such a great asset to have on hand!
Now if we look at Link, I feel like he wouldn't really want to return to his old life in Ordon. Sure, he still loves the place and everyone there, but I think becoming a hero proves to him that he can do so much more good by being a hero. He's skilled with a blade and well connected. He WANTS to help Hyrule. And that goal is so much more meaningful to him than goat herding ever was 😂 So I think he stays in contact with Zelda too. He offers his sword and asks what he can do to help, while also traveling and visiting and just enjoying the freedom that comes with being a hero.
But I think Link also cares a lot for Zelda. I think he can see how lonely/isolated she is and worries about her. He can see that she needs friends she can trust. Someone who can be a comfort when she's going through hardship. So he always makes an effort to check on her, even if she constantly lies claims that she's doing fine ❤️
From there, a really strong friendship is formed. And eventually it turns from affection to attraction and I think they eventually realize that they were kind of made for each other. And that very few people in Hyrule understand them like they understand each other. After all, how many people know about Midna? Or that Link was a wolf? Or that Zelda sacrificed so much? Nobody except for the two of them knows exactly what the other has been through. And that simple fact brings so much understanding, comfort, and camaraderie. And it's beautiful 💚💜
There's some smaller moments in the game too that hints they at least have an interest/concern/loads of trust for each other. Zelda instantly recognizing the human side of Link when she sees him in his wolf form and feeling sympathy for him. Link trusting Zelda in their initial meeting, and Midna later noting that Link seems to be worrying about the Princess 👀 Zelda smiling as she says Link's name and humbly asks him to lend her his strength in the final battle. Zelda placing a calming hand on Link's own when he plans to charge Ganondorf out of fury. Link stealing Zelda's breath away the moment he puts an end to their foe.
And last but not least, there's the fact that at the end of TP's credits, Link rides away from Ordon in his hero tunic. And then the scene immediately shifts to the castle throne room while playing Zelda's theme. And I don't know about you, but to me, that tells me that Link and Zelda, at the very least, experienced some sort of reunion 😌
But I digress. I hope this answered your question! And I also hope it wasn't too longwinded lol 🙈

Time to talk about a piece of Zelda lore that makes me a little insane 😀 I present to you, the story prologue from the original Link's Awakening manual:
The first paragraph is just so fascinating to me. The idea that Hyrule experienced a period of unrest after the events of ALTTP, and that it was dire enough that Link was called in to help? Oh the implications are so interesting to consider 👀
What was the threat that the people feared? The return of Ganon? Another Agahnim who would betray them? Outside countries threatening war? People seeking the now complete Triforce? Hyrule could be SO vulnerable as far as we know!
And the fact that it's Link who takes it upon himself to assuage the fears of the people. To defend his homeland. There's so many more implications to consider! Did he do it willingly? Did he accept his kingdom's burdens as his own? Did he choose for himself to sail away from Hyrule?
OR, was he possibly forced into it? Did he feel like he had no choice? I can't help but wonder what the political situation is like in Hyrule at this time. Is the King counting on Link? Are they treating the hero as their strongest weapon? Their last line of defense? Did they recruit Link to go and fight this unseen evil?
And the Zelink content. Of course, there's the Zelink content to consider.
Just imagine how Zelda feels about all of this. Her people are restless. Her father feels powerless. Link seems to be the one thing which everyone can safely place their hopes in. He'll stave off the darkness. He'll find the wisdom needed to save their kingdom. But I don't think Zelda wishes for that at all. She'd beg and plead for him not to go. She doesn't want him to be used. To be their weapon. To be endangered by some terrifying, unknown evil lurking on the horizon.
And again, just think of the political possibilities 👀 What if Link wished to marry Zelda, but he couldn't do so while the kingdom is restless. Like the King could never bless their union during such trying times. But if Link were to do this service for Hyrule, then he might reconsider. It's so tragic to think about. But so romantically rich as well. The simple thought that Link sails away to not only save his people, but to fight for the love of his life as well. A love that remains at the shore, worrying endlessly for him. Wow wow WOW.
And then we get to the Marin parallels. I can hardly believe how explicit the text is when it comes to drawing similarities between Zelda and Marin. Sure, Link might be a little delusional when he initially awakens, but the text makes these assertions with such certainty. You hear the voice of Princess Zelda. You find Princess Zelda standing over you. For a moment, however brief, Link is SURE that the girl before him is someone who he is very familiar with 👀
And this makes room for a whole other slew of theories hehe. Is Link's mind helping to shape the Wind Fish's dream? Is the sense of salvation defined by waking up at Zelda's side? Does Link form such a natural friendship with her because Marin seems so familiar to him?
I especially love the detail of Zelda and Marin sharing the same voice. Like, this means that the vocals we hear from Marin in the LA Switch remake are technically Zelda's voice. And Link is hearing this. The voice of a girl he cares for, while he's stranded on an island far from home. Can't you just feel how much his heart is being twisted by stuff like this? 😱😭
(I also just really love the detail that Marin/Zelda's voice was a comfort to Link while he was drowning. ALTTP Zelink is so real yall 💯)
But I digress. I just thought all of this was super fascinating :)
There are no umbrellas in either Breath of the Wild or Tears of the Kingdom, right? I need a quick confirmation for something I'm writing, please and thanks. 🙏
