Today I received a little care package from the Pheo Para Alliance. There's an old saying in medicine, "if you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not zebras." The problem with that is, of course, if you are a zebra you are totally fucked. I was lucky I have a doctor who thinks zebras every time he sees me (I have Ehlers-Danlos Hypermobility Syndrome, so I am already a zebra) and he figured out I had a neuroendocrine tumor pretty quick compared to a lot of patients. The time-consuming part has been convincing an endocrinologist to agree with him and order scans to confirm it. Next week I go to the University of Florida to find out what we can do about it. I am trying to be realistically optimistic.

Bitch I have dislocated my wrist so badly wiping my ass I needed madical intervention! I have the worst time at the dentist because my yaw dislicates so easily, and for all you freaks, it does not make giving head better. Yes I know it's a spectrum and yes I know every zebra is different, but I've had people IRL compare me to her! Like it's not hard enough being disabled and having people going "that paralymip athleat in a wheelchair did this, so you can to if you try enough" or "that amputee climb a mountain, what's stopping you" or "that person had a wheelchair but now doesn't need to any more". I now have to listen to people saying some fictional character, that so happens to be written as having my disability, can do it so mut I.
I'm happy for Rebecca Yaros finding an outlet and way to deal with this shitty hand we are played. But either write her as needing days to recover or just have her being a generic pick me! Not this shitty representation.
