The original Captain Marvel (and, despite what DC says, what I will always call this character) meets reverse-Captain Marvel of sorts (his version of Professor Zoom/Reverse Flash from the Flash’s own rogues’ gallery) in Zazzo (I guess they forgot all about Black Adam that month). Zazzo was an extra-dimensional scamp who steals Cap’s lightning by wearing a helmet with a lightning rod on it when Billy Batson says “Shazam!”, thus gaining the powers of Captain Marvel.
The story was by Elliot S! Maggin, with art by Kurt Schaffenberger, my second favorite Captain Marvel artist, after CC Beck of course.
Note that on the cover DC has removed, at Marvel Comics’ insistence, the tag line “the original Captain Marvel” and replaced it with “the World’s Mightiest Mortal.”
