Just a thought, but since it's a running gag that wiston sets stuff on fire, wouldn't that partially make him a zany since part of being a zany is participating in gags? :0
That's just my opinion lol, but I'd love to hear yours!
Doing a single gag does not make one zany. If it did everyone in the quest would be zany. It’s how ridiculous he makes it and if more gags occur and if he makes it more and more silly. The fire starts tap dancing for example. He hasn’t gotten to the level. He could if he pushed for it but for now he isn’t zany.

So if there are haft demons can there be haft zanys? If there are what are they like and will we ever meet any?
As crazy as it sounds, zany isn’t a race like demons or Dishes. There is no zany gene. A toon can become more or less zany. There are definitely those more inclined toward zaniness. It’s more of a choice and a state of being. An awareness. Kinda like a life style choice but to the extreme.
The Warners are obviously very zany. To the point they can drive other people crazy and interact with the fourth wall. Dr. Scratchansniff is a little zany too but not anywhere near the degree the Warners are at. He can recover from hijinx and pranks quickly. He knows how gags work and will follow through with them. He is zany enough to be a legal guardian for the Warners but not so zany that he won’t be taken seriously by others.
This is also why you can have almost anything be a zany. Demons, angels, regular toons, Dishes, dragons, other mythical creatures. So on and so forth.
The story will hash out more soon and if anything doesn’t make sense or you want more details the ask box is always open. (I’m just sorry it takes me forever to answer these.)
