Zamek krzyżacki, Golub-Dobrzyń Część 1 z 2: Powstanie i architektura zamku
Warownia miała kształt regularnego kwadratu z murem obronnym i czterema narożnymi basztami cylindrycznymi.

The Castle of the Teutonic Order, Golub-Dobrzyń, Poland Part 1 of 2: The Castle's Origins and Architecture
It was built in the early 14th century, around 1300, on the site of earlier wooden and earthen fortifications. Construction was begun by the Teutonic Commander, Konrad von Sack. The castle was located on a hill overlooking the Drwęca River, providing a strategic advantage in controlling trade routes. The stronghold was a regular square with a defensive wall and four cylindrical corner towers. In the northeastern corner was the so-called "Tower of Last Defense."
The castle was a typical conventual defensive and administrative complex of the Teutonic Order, combining military and religious functions – it contained the Chapel of the Holy Cross and living quarters for the Commander and garrison. The distinctive interior layout limited passageways, allowing for effective defense even in the event of an enemy incursion into the courtyard. The first level of the castle above ground was made of wood, which allowed it to be quickly destroyed in the event of a siege, making it difficult for conquerors to access the upper floors.

Zamek w Oporowie Część 2 z 3: Rozbudowy i zmiany architektoniczne

Oporów Castle, Poland Part 2 of 3: Architectural Expansions and Changes
Over the following centuries, the castle was rebuilt several times, particularly in the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Renaissance elements were introduced, such as new ceilings and decorations, as well as Baroque window openings on the upper floor. In the 19th century, the so-called "cupboard" – a small building in the courtyard – was added, and neo-Gothic ornamentation appeared on the entrance gate. Another major change was the construction of a landscaped park surrounding the castle, dating from the first half of the 19th century, which gave the residence an idyllic, romantic character. Despite these changes, the castle retained the main elements of its Gothic structure, making it one of the best-preserved castles of its type in Poland.

Zamek w Oporowie Część 1 z 3: Budowa i fundacja zamku

Oporów Castle, Poland Part 1 of 3: Construction and Foundation of the Castle
Built between 1434 and 1449 by Władysław Oporowski, Archbishop of Gniezno, and son of Mikołaj Oporowski, Voivode of Łęczyca. The castle was built on an artificial island in the middle of the Słudwia River and was intended to combine defensive and residential functions, although the emphasis was placed on representativeness rather than defense. The structure was constructed in the Gothic red brick style, typical of contemporary Polish architecture. The foundation of the castle complex was a residential tower surrounded by defensive walls and a semicircular tower with a chapel on the upper floor. This majestic castle was intended to emphasize the status and influence of the Oporowski family, locating their residence in one of the most important noble residences of the time. Although it served as a stronghold, it was not a typical defensive castle, as evidenced by the large, ornate windows and stylistic details.
