So first off... I'm real sorry for disappearing on you like that. I didn't want to leave, but I had no choice. I hope you understand. It's just... I figured it out. Like, I finally get it. Hurt like a bitch though. Like, you know me, I'm no stranger and I'm certainly not a pushover but... yeah. I've never felt anything like that before. So. Pretty bad.

I'm working on quitting and it's tough, but I can actually taste food again.

I baked a pie today if you can even believe it! Dug up one of Mom's old recipes and just gave it a whack. [Laughter] it came out soggy as hell- watery and pale, just like me. Tasted like shit, but... it was mine.

I wish I coulda saved you some.

Hah! It'd probably leak right through the box, not to mention the fortune it'd cost in shipping fees, no doubt.

I went to see [redacted] today. I mean. I didn't get the chance to really tell you much about her, but her nephew was there. Visiting her, I mean. He actually recognized me. Well-- I mean I guess I've got a pretty memorable look, but he'd only dropped her off once or twice. He- [voice cracks]

He thanked me?

He said I gave her something to look forward to every week. Kept her going when she almost gave up, way past the original prognosis. Can you believe it?

He helped me get my house back. He was just glad he got to properly show his gratitude.
