Some 5ds
Continuity
I am so obsessed with how in Z-one's flashback, the brief moments that showed his unaltered appearance in the flashbacks had his eyes blacked out. It really adds to how later in the flashback he shows up with Yusei's appearance trying to give others hope and save them as a known significant hero in history, savior of humanity. Compared to Johnny/Antimony's flashback where he's an accomplished pro-duelist with a consistent appearance, and especially Aporia's flashback scenes with the three most significant stages of his life where he felt despair and his appearances in those moments in his life. It really gives Z-one an air of insignificance he might feel towards his past appearance and his attempts to save humanity when he's not resembling Yusei.
During most of his screen time, he has his helmet on which hides his face only showing a single eye due to the metal contraption covering his other eye. I think he hides his face because he no longer believes he can save people by having them believe he's Yusei and it brings up memories of how many times he failed. There's also that time he took on Sherry's father appearance because that's what she wants to see when he's about to make a deal with her vs her first encounter with him where she recognizes the eye and feeling he gives off as Yusei's. It's about Z-one having his appearance change and how it influences others and he knows it. Sherry ends up following Z-one and clinging to the (false) hope he gives her while he resembles the form of someone she trusts. Z-one tried to change his self to be more like Yusei so he can lead humanity and was able to convince people around him to the point it stopped the machine army. "Z-one is Yusei, Z-one could've been Yusei" It's more about how Yusei in Z-one's future is a figure from history and Z-one uses him as an inspirational figure. It's how Yusei isn't there to help prevent the future from being doomed and the possibility that he would've if he were there in the future but he isn't! And its likely that he wouldn't have gone down the path Z-one did because Yusei is presented as a heroic figure who has unwavering belief in humanity, while Z-one claims he doesn't have any belief in humanity after what he went through. Z-one's shifts in appearance reflects the hope he wanted to give others as Yusei, how he grew colder and more distant overtime hiding his appearance and claiming to not believe in hope. And lastly, the hope others see in him which he uses to his advantage.
I need for them to interact
