Okay, bear with me, but since it's Pride month, my brain is living in rainbow land.
Okay, hear me out: you know how demons in Makai live by different rules? I just came across a reel where a nature expert was explaining how homosexuality is everywhere in the animal kingdom, but only in human species do we find homophobia. Check out Carin Bondar on social media for some fascinating information on this.
I would like to posit that demons are super open to homosexuality. They live long-ass lives, and have you seen the Yu Yu Hakusho demons? They're all hot. You can't tell me they're going to live by some arbitrary moral compass about only copulating with a mate they can have offspring with. For hundreds, if not thousands of years? And what incentive do they have to stay monogamous and choose only to be in heterosexual relationships?
If we bring it back to nature: copulation with the purpose of creating offspring is done in the interest of survival. Demons don't have a lot of natural predators, except for other demons. So, sure, I can see lower class demons copulating for the purpose of procreation to ensure they don't go extinct, but for higher class demons? The rules are different. They heal faster, they can take more damage, and it takes a hell of a lot for them to die. Barring losing their lives early in a fight, high ranking demons live long lives and can survive a long time.
Using the example I watched in the a cbcgem reel, dolphins are hypersexual creatures. Sometimes they're a little aggressively sexual, and they form groups that could be construed as polycules, where multiple male dolphins will get together to court and keep a female. And the way they stay in relationship with each other is repeated sexual interaction, multiple times a day to keep them all close. Sex among them creates a strong bond and allows them to coexist without fighting to dominate the relationship with the female.
So why wouldn't the rules for demons be similar? Especially high ranking demons? I think it's safe to assume they'd copulate to build bonds and alliances among themselves. It would probably be the primary strategy by which they'd prevent war. And, when the time came to think about progeny, I can see the decision being made with pragmatism: having children for the sake of developing a legacy, passing down a bloodline and heritage. I can also see it done in the interest of fulfilling a desire to experience the world through the eyes of their offspring and creating a parental bond with their partner, or partners. In a life as long as a demon's, I'd argue that the most important and life-enhancing element would be relationships with other demons. Depending on the type of demon, maybe, but based on the depictions of demons we see in yyh, I think it's a safe wager to make.
Just imagine Jin, Suzuki, Chu, Touya, Shishi, hell, even Risho, hanging out at a pride parade. You know Jin, Suzuki and Chu would be waving rainbow flags, they'd be sporting rainbow face paint, cheering loudly at all the floats going by and catching candy in brightly colored baskets. The others might be a little more subdued, but each and every one of them would just think it was a cool human event to celebrate rainbows. Until Kurama or some other envoy explains to them that, no, as a matter of fact pride is celebrated to celebrate all sexuality alongside heterosexuality. I swear they'd all look at Kurama like he'd grown a second head, mouths hanging open like: You mean humans aren't pansexual? Cripes.
He's thankful for the rain and cloud coverage, for it makes the streets dimmer and grayer. Gama blends in better that way. Puddles splash beneath Gama's feet as he makes his way down the alley, hunched and cautious of any humans that might be nearby. Thankfully, he's managed to avoid the larger crowds, but in Tokyo, there was almost always at least one human scuttling about. He grumbles, shoulders stiffening against the pelting rain. His large trench coat absorbs most of the force of the weather, and its popped collar helps to conceal his face. Of course, these aren't the only measures he's taken to disguise himself. Gama also wears a fedora, grey pants, dress shoes, and black gloves. Nearly every inch of him is covered, head to toe, so that no passersby would witness the pale color of his skin. By necessity, his eyes are not concealed, but the scarf across his lower face obscures the rest. He's a bit taller and thinner than most humans, but walking with a hunch and bending his knees seems to disguise that well enough. And, really, who could expect any less from the Master of Disguise? Near the end of the alley towards a street's dead end, Gama comes across the back of an ordinary apartment building. Ordinary enough, at least. He stops there and looks up at it warily before fishing a piece of paper from an inner coat pocket and examining it. He looks between the paper and the structure with scrutiny, eventually stuffing it back into the pocket whence it came with a satisfied nod. Before approaching the back door, Gama lifts a hand and mutters something, a dark glow emanating from splaying fingers. A string of wards gradually reveals itself, untangling like ropes once taut but abruptly cut. Only once they unravel and fade does he walk forward, opening a heavy gray door to slip inside and then shut it behind him. His soggy steps echo through the empty hallway quietly as he reproduces the paper and mumbles something while reading it. Upstairs, a couple floors. He makes his way there slowly, soaking in his surroundings as he shakes the collar on his coat. Gama finally comes to a numbered door after ascending some floors, and repeats the motion from outside to reveal and dispels another set of wards. He doesn't bother trying the lock and simply reaches for the knob. Risho would likely believe the wards were enough. "Hello, Risho? Are you here? It is Gama. I have arrived, as requested," He calls into the apartment as he walks in, shutting the door quietly behind him. @ask-risho

Happy Team Masho Month, and Happy Belated Halloween! (Listen, it's always Halloween in my heart, I don't care what anyone else says-)
Just a cute little set of ninjas in their Halloween costumes! We went with classic universal and movie monsters that we thought might fit their personalities! What do you think? What would your favorite Yu Yu Hakusho character dress as for Halloween? This collab work was done by myself and my lovely friends! I did sketch/concept, @frozenarrows was on lines and cleanup, and @talesofdark did color and shading! 🫶 Thank you for collabing with me! It was so fun and I'm excited for the next time we get to work together!

Risho: How much did those furs cost, my dear Ruka? Ruka: Oh, enough...~ Decided to draw this rare pair, Risho and Ruka! Did a little more rendering than I initially thought I would, but it looks warms and I'm enjoying it! They can be terrible and superficial together <3 Special thanks to @talesofdark for the brainrot!
I saw that people had been sending you birthday wishes. I didn’t realize you were celebrating it? Belated birthday wishes. We can celebrate when we meet. - ask-risho
Ah, thank you, Risho... I was unaware there would be celebrations at all, but others took it upon themselves nonetheless. You know we rarely have time for such things, so it was unexpected. I will be seeking you out soon with the address you left. @ask-risho
Hello, Gama. Please answer: Daisy, Prairie Gentian, Snapdragon - @ask-risho
Greetings, Risho! I see you've picked some human flower asks! Now, let's see-
....
........ Why do I get the feeling you're fishing for compliments with these? You've picked them quite carefully, and likely know all the answers already... But of course, I could not expect any less from you. Daisy: What do you feel is your greatest accomplishment? First, giving my life for my mission and dying in honor and glory. Second, persuading Koenma to bring me back to life so I could continue carrying out said mission. My loyalty and dedication to my causes will not be questioned. Oh, but I'm sure you already know this. Prairie Gentian: Who is someone you look up to? Describe them. There are few people I genuinely admire and look upon as models for behavior and guidance for my life. One of those souls was my own master... I say was because I have no way of knowing if he still lives after all this time. You knew him, of course, Risho, but for others who might read this I will describe him. He was a curious man, extremely disciplined, and he taught me the value of hard work, loyalty, and tenacity to the bitter end. He was strict - some might say draconian - but without his firm hand, I would not be alive again today. He passed his secrets to me, and I will one day pass those same secrets to another worthy soul. When I have found a suitable candidate and the time is right, of course. Snapdragon: At this moment, what do you want? I want to gain my bearings and learn what it is I have missed while I was dead, so that I might better strike forth in the future. I am sure there is much work to do, if not regarding our mission, in regards to setting up headquarters and training apprentices. Perhaps if I cannot find one, I shall take a mate and create one of my own. It remains to be seen. @ask-risho
