I think this one might hurt us both. The album, the man that brought us together
Good luck 🫡
alright pookies here we go: a ranking of depth by yuta
7. last song: haha last song last... sorry... i like it! honestly there are no bad songs on this album, there are really good ones and fantastic ones. it's a great lead-in to this album, and it makes it so that off the mask catches you completely off guard, very well done. sometimes slower songs end up being some of my favorites, sometimes not.
6. save you: this and the title track were pretty interchangeable, i like both of them. good on the ears, just not as good as some of the others. "we're trading places" gets stuck in your head and i think the message of the song is pretty damn cool.
5. off the mask: the mv saved this one. classic case of the title track being shown the fuck up by the b-sides. i think that's a good thing, it means that it can support itself but also get the album more streams, hell yeah. my man nakamoto yuta is hot, hence him being part of the bias line when i got back into nct. also, damnit he can sing, let him do it! this solo tour making him more vocally stable than any other member has me giggling too. FUCK YOU, SM!
4. butterfly: oof... i like this song less as a song and more as a "yo this was yuta's first self-produced track and it's beautiful" type thing. it sounds very pretty, and honestly, apple kept putting it on random playlists and shoving it down my throat so i had to like it. the emotional intensity hits every time.
3. goodbye: the other song that apple decided i needed to hear a ton. no worries, it was in my top three before i ever truly ranked the album. the bridge, man. it's just SO GOOD. i love how he meshed the english with the japanese as well, it flowed a lot better than i ever could have anticipated.
2. prisoner: the one i relate to. like damn. how does it feel to have an artist take your experiences and sing them at you beautifully? feels wild, man. lyrically, it's exquisite. instrumentally, yummy. my eloquence fails me right about now but that's okay, my feelings can justify this one. >:)
1. bad euphoria: my favorite, obviously. it was hard to choose the order of the top three but i think this one is my favorite just because of the idea of bad euphoria. kind of like yuta is teaching you what it is while he's singing. it's gritty and grungy and my brain apparently needed that back in october. his tone is so bitey like yes i'm listening my good sir what do you have to say?
hope i didn't piss you off or break your heart too much with this one, goose goose. wouldn't want to hurt you over what brought us together. i'm also once again apologizing for accidentally lying to you about what time zone i was in... i really didn't expect you to remember that...
