This is the fourth part of the third section of my theoretical timeline for Genshin Impact Lore. I will possibly add to this as updates with new information or information that corrects past misunderstandings crop up. I put the rest under-the-cut because it gets rather lengthy. Also this is all theoretical from the process of analysis. I used the game itself and the Genshin Impact wiki to help me along. There are definite spoilers below for pretty much all of the Genshin Impact storyline so please beware!
So Natlan didn’t really take part in the archon war since what was occurring during this period was mainly infighting among the dragons and tribes. Xbalanque did have a part in all this, though. Interestingly, Xbalanque was an outlander (NOTE: not a descender. Just someone not originally from Natlan) [Weapon: Chain Breaker]. Furthermore, just like the rest of the pyro archons, Xbalanque was originally just an average mortal man. Xbalanque seemingly just turned up in Natlan at some point and went around fighting and then uniting the tribes of Natlan before being given a crown by the Lord of the Night [Artifact: Obsidian Codex - Crown of the Saints]. During this time and before becoming archon, Xbalanque befriended a man known as Och-Kan, who was at the time a prisoner of the dragons [Weapon Ascension Material: Delirious Decadence of the Sacred Lord]. Upon being freed, Och-kan pledged his allegiance to Xbalanque and joined his party. This party evolved to also have a woman who was raised by a dragon and founded the Flower Feather Tribe, Lianca; the founder of the Miclan tribe, Maghan; a man named Uenuku from the People of the Springs tribe; a pair of twins named Ahpub and Ixquieh who led the Collective of Plenty and Children of Echoes tribes, respectively; and Yupanqui from the Scions of Canopy tribe [Weapon: Earth Shaker, Weapon: Chain Breaker, Weapon: Ring of Yaxche, Weapon: Footprint of the Rainbow, Weapon: Flute of Ezpitzal]. This group, and possibly others, seemingly engaged in war with the dragons of Natlan. During this war, Xbalanque fought and won against a dragon known as Xiuhcoatl (who was the pyro sovereign) and was “revived from the flames” and, furthermore, made a peace treaty between humans and dragons [Book: Records of Hanan Pacha, World Quest: Rite of the Bold, World Quest: Revelations from the Past]. Directly after this, the shade of death, Ronova, appeared to Xbalanque and gave him a glimpse of the future [Weapon: A Thousand Blazing Suns]. Due to what he saw, Xbalanque proceeded to bargain with Ronova, which eventually led to the situation seen in the Natlan questline [Natlan Archon Quest]. Interestingly, after Xbalanque ascended, which seems to equate death in this case, Och-Kan took over and ruled in his place [Weapon Ascension Material: Delirious Demeanor of the Sacred Lord]. However, Och-kan became a tyrant who used the power of the Turnfire to oppress others due to his crazed loyalty to Xbalanque and his hatred of dragons [Weapon Ascension Material: Delirious Demeanor of the Sacred Lord]. Och-kan was eventually defeated by a group containing a scarlet-eyed hero (who was the second pyro archon), a pair of hero twins, and a young woman named Sakkuk, as well as some of the surviving members of Xbalanque’s party [Weapon: Earth-shaker, Weapon: Astral Vulture’s Crimson Plumage, Weapon Ascension Material: Delirious Divinity of the Sacred Lord].
