it's so tragically ironic to me that one of the reason Och-Kan was so devoted is because Xbalanque showed him compassion. which led Och-Kan to view Xbalanque as the kindest and gentlest being ever
but the more you read Natlan lore the more you start to wonder if Xbalanque was truly this kind, gentle, too pure for this world soul that Och-Kan saw him as, or if he wasn't above sacrificing him and a lot of others for the collective hope [spoiler: definitely the second more than the first]
meanwhile, the ones who actually genuinely loved and cared about Och-Kan - Lianca, Yupanqui, and possibly Ahpub if we want - he had barely any qualms sacrificing in Xbalanque's name. worse, they all were kind of led to their deaths by him, even if it was more indirect for the latter two
and this is what gets to me the most. he latched to someone who maybe saw him as more of a hope for the future than anything else, for being soo kind to him, but ignored or [got] killed the people who actually loved him without anything resembling an ulterior motive.
Team Xbalanque good ending low-key;
Och-Kan wakes up from his delusional worship and runs away with Yupanqui where they live happily ever after
how did i get here
Whatever man. Hands you "If you laugh you go to hell" Yupanqui variation.
Full clean ver under the cut.

Genshin Impact Timeline: Analysis and Theory (Part 3.4 The Archon War - Natlan)
Genshin Impact Timeline: Analysis and Theory Master-List
This is the fourth part of the third section of my theoretical timeline for Genshin Impact Lore. I will possibly add to this as updates with new information or information that corrects past misunderstandings crop up. I put the rest under-the-cut because it gets rather lengthy. Also this is all theoretical from the process of analysis. I used the game itself and the Genshin Impact wiki to help me along. There are definite spoilers below for pretty much all of the Genshin Impact storyline so please beware!
i like how in unfinished reverie huitztlan is the tribe who stands for dragons the most and how yupanqui's wish was to live in coexistence with them and how burkina's story is all about his companionship with kongamato and eventually died for him and how kinich's teaser is about protecting a yumkasaur and her baby and how mavuika is so often shown with those baby yumkasaurs. scions of the canopy i love you as much as you love your dragons
hey so what if the natlan local legends were references to natlan historical characters
least obvious Tenoch reference
you know how Ixquieh is called the "Hero of the Forged Flame". or how in Ring of Yaxche it said she forget a gem with fire/Phlogiston. or how even her current successor's banner is called Forgefire Blessing. yeah.
Fallen Dawnstar is Qoyllor, i suppose (yes she's probably real since apparently her son Kuntur was real)
this one is Chaac, since their namesake are connected and also it's close to areas he would be associated with (under Upper Sanctum). also, this
this one's title doesnt really tell us much, but one-eyed endlessly burning core with an attack called earthshaker strike. close enough welcome back Yupanqui.
explorer of the golden city whose name mean bridge or door should likely be either Manqu or Och-Kan, given that they were both the gateways to disabling the golden mechanisms and getting into the tyrant's city, i guess?
this should be Xbalanque, died-but-didn't against a dragon sovereign, and also because i think the overglazed great god of Natlan should be represented by an overpowered capybara bc its funny
granted i don't have equivalents for everyone, but......... but!!!
