Brown Butter Mashed Potatoes are a rich and flavorful twist on classic mashed potatoes. The nutty aroma of brown butter adds depth to the creamy potatoes, making them an irresistible side dish for any meal.
Ingredients: 2 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, peeled and quartered. 1/2 cup unsalted butter. 1/2 cup whole milk. Salt to taste. Black pepper to taste.
Instructions: Peel the potatoes and cut them into quarters. Then, put them in a large pot that is full of cold water. Over medium-high heat, bring the pot to a boil. Then, lower the heat to low and let the potatoes simmer for about 15 to 20 minutes, or until they are soft enough to pierce with a fork. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat while the potatoes are cooking. For another 5 to 7 minutes, stirring every now and then, keep cooking the butter until it turns golden brown and starts to smell nutty. Watch out for burning the butter. After the potatoes are done cooking, drain them well and put them back in the pot. After the potatoes are cooked, add the whole milk and brown butter. Use a potato masher or a fork to mash the potatoes until they are smooth and creamy. Add salt and black pepper to taste, and keep mashing until everything is well mixed. Put the mashed potatoes in a dish to serve, and do so while they are still hot.
