It's been eight days since I last fed this mantis (Yulin, a giant rainforest nymph)...and their abdomen is *still* so full I would feel uneasy feeding them any more, in case they fall and rupture it. How

Is it ok to protest against Yulin? I donât want people to replace eating dogs with another animal I want to stop them eating animals together but can I still sign petitions etc for Yulin to be stopped?
I think itâs a good thing to support activists who are in Yulin and are protesting against eating dogs. My only problem with the opposition to Yulin is that so much of it comes from white, western meat eaters, who have absolutely no business protesting against animal consumption in other countries while doing absolutely nothing about animal suffering in their own country. Opposition to Yulin should be a small part of a wider opposition to all animal exploitation - not just a single issue campaign.
Yulin
Itâs high time I started to sketch these characters out. Yulinâs face shape from the side is based on this really old aviator poster I stare at on Tuesdays.
Manâs best friend is a loyal companion and can help us heal when we are sick or depressed, they deserve legal protection. Guo Changgangâs proposal at Two Sessions meeting is a good first step.
China, which in the 60â˛s consumed less than 5 kg of meat per capita, which is 20 times less than the US, now kills and eats more than half of all pigs (who are, by the way, more intelligent than dogs, in case that matters) killed in the world (more than half a billion). But the unforgivable crime for the âinternational communityâ is, apparently, the 100.000 dogs that are killed in China every year. It would be "highly desirable for China to be seen to do the right thing, which is to give dogs legal status as companion animalsâ, and if they want to improve their image and attract more successful, rich, white folks to their country, theyâre gonna have to do whatâs right and stop killing manâs best friend. Instead, they should kill another 100k pigs, or some other animal that the civilized west also slaughters.
