I think I drew Yuegui from memory…? Oh yes, and also I drew those two with my finger instead of a stylus; suddenly the pen pressure is all different.

Shenhe… fun to draw but complicated as expected. I tried using heart shapes as a shorthand for her braid.

I realized what Yuegui might be partially based on

In Shandong, Henan, Shanxi, and Shaanxi, there’s a type of cloth tiger toy (or if you’d like, collectable indoor decor) that’s got a similar shape to Yuegui (minus the ears of course). They’re cute and small but not very soft. (https://culture.sina.cn/2017-11-02/detail-ifynmzrs6123557.d.html)

Originates from the worshipping of tigers (because of their fierceness and protection towards young) so they’re seen as a protector deity of life
