"Iscariot" is most likely from the Hebrew "ishq'rioth" which means "of Kerioth", as in the southern city Judas was most likely from, because Judas would not have spoken Latin and surnames of that era tended to be place or patrilineal, pass it on

I do not believe in a Great Evil that influenced Yudah of Kerioth in regards to the execution of Yoshua, I believe something adjacent to the Gnostic claim: that Yoshua asked Yudah to do it.
