There are some people who used to be here in the Tumblr fandom and disappeared and I miss them and hope they're okay π’
π
bruh, please. the fandom hasnβt died!! iβm right here, im still standing after years.. im the biggest august supporter and defender, i love this fandom so much β€οΈβπ©Ή
I think it's a fine line between lamenting the winding down of fandom and complaining about other people moving on. And the exact same ask could be interpreted (and intended) different ways by different people!
It is okay to be sad about it being slower. But it certainly hasn't died! The hockey boys are a shiny new toy. For me at least, they don't even come close to YR. But for some people they do. And that's okay.
Fandoms change. And it's okay to be sad about it. It's also okay to move on.
Hopefully the original anon can still find some joy in what we do still have here. I hope to be engaging with this fandom for many years yet!

I find it's a difficult period to be an longer member of the fandom, especially as someone into analysis rather than fan fiction, because a lot of the other older members have moved away (as stated by others, usually to heated rivalry or Omar/Edvin blogs) but I find it's also difficult to engage with newer people cause, whilst it's nice seeing them enjoying it and noticing things, it's the same conversations I had years ago and it's hard to find the same enthusiasm when you're just rehashing the same things.

I mostly feel anon was trying to express how sad it is the difference between YR back then to now. I certainly don't think it helps to come at them in a do your part or don't complain perspective. I think there's still plenty of us keeping it going and hopefully anon finds some comfort in that and even help create as well, if they have not already. It is ok to feel like the naked hockey lads have been overwhelming and all over tumblr anon. Find those friends who feel the same.
I, too, have been known to vent about the hockey lads π
Hey anon who thinks the fandom is dying, come participate of the several events we host on @youngroyals-events throughout the year! Or just create your own things separately. Or hype up others. Or make posts talking about it. It's normal for fandoms to dwindle down once the show is over, but it doesn't die while people are still talking about it, so come talk about it with us!
Also, you sounded a bit bitter about HR, ngl. Just filter it out, love, no need to shame people who enjoy it (that definitely doesn't help make friends in any fandom).
Much love to @youngroyals-events !
I'll be honest, I personally still haven't adjusted to how it feels now vs how it used to feel. This is my first/only fandom so I'm sure having nothing to compare it to is part of it.
But we need to resist feeling discouraged by lower engagement -- let's all do what we can to keep the fandom alive!
Anon, a fandom is never truly dead as long as there's one person still thinking about it. Things are definitely a lot slower than they used to be but we're not dead yet!
Also I thoroughly recommend blocking all tags to do with the hockey boys, and maybe even Omar/Edvin tags if you're not interested in their post-YR careers. It makes the dash much more pleasant to scroll through.
