+ She had never felt more EXHAUSTED in all her life . That much Mary Jane was completely sure of . But the indescribable feeling of HOLDING little May in her arms, that tiny face stained with tears still the most BEAUTIFUL thing she'd ever seen , kept her from giving in to the way her entire BODY wanted her to sleep for a hundred years it felt like . Against all odds, against every one who had ever DOUBTED that things would work out , she and Peter had done it .

Their tiny baby girl was HERE . In her arms . And for once, the world felt PERFECT .

Cousins, they said. Not that she knew, since they'd never crossed paths before. But Father said it would be 'good for her' to get to know more of her relations, and really, it was nice to get out from under her mother's gaze now and then. She still had her shades on, though, because Billy's aura was currently blindingly hot and she wasn't sure if that was normal for him or if it would fade eventually as she got used to him. Sheesh.

she jumps, palpably, when his hand touches her bare arm, the slight tingle of electricity the only hint of her otherwise deadly powers. the wind whips around them both, freezing, just as he says. her nightgown doesn't do much by way of protection from the elements. short in the sleeve and shorter in the leg- she's not used to being bothered at night and it shows. she hadn't even known he was there until he spoke.

there had been a time where his word had been as good as gold to the boy. how had he fallen so far ? the answer was simple, tethered to his poor treatment and constant underestimation of bart since he'd landed in this timeline, and yet wally's reluctance to face his own shortcomings ( and, perhaps, a latent sense of guilt ) had made for a festering wound the scarlet speedster was unwilling to prod at himself. wally forgets just how imperfect he had been as kid sidekick, and how barry had accepted him wholeheartedly regardless. such grace and patience now formed the basis of his fondest memories, and of the insurmountable love and respect he held for his uncle. knowing that degree of affection and it's positive, constructive results, why would he deprive bart from such an experience in the name of 'tough love' ? love, as linda had taught him, was a two-way street ⸻ maybe the time had finally come to bury the hatchet properly, and make something worthwhile blossom out of their souring, current crisis be damned.

+ " Are ... are you LAUGHING at me ? " Eyes narrowed as she looked back at her elder annoyance clearly punctuating every inch of her EXPRESSION . With how many times she'd fooled around with her father's CAMERAS when she had been younger, Mayday would have SWORN that somehow something would have rubbed off on her. Hadn't her father made something of a LIVING just taking photos of himself in action all those years ? Why was this so HARD ?
