Misogyny runs so deep, it becomes invisible. A while ago I watched the show Young Sheldon and I saw a lot of clips of the show on Youtube. Every time I’d check out the comments section and everyone would be criticising and hating on Mary which really surprised me. She’s not a perfect person or a perfect mother, no one is, but that way people would talk about her was not accurate at all. I thought, well, if they criticise Mary this badly surely they criticise George even more since he’s clearly an even more incompetent parent, but no, they love George. That really surprised me. One of their criticisms for Mary was that she neglected Missy throughout the show and the only time she paid attention to her was allowing her to pick the restaurant they go to in the episode where the twins were part of a scientific study. That’s what they claim but there were many Missy and Mary moments throughout the show, one example being when Mary and Missy had a girls Day along with Connie. I do think Missy was given the least attention from her siblings but equally from both George and Mary. It’s funny how when it comes to Mary one example isn’t enough but when it comes to George they only ever bring up one example, the red lobster episode, but they conveniently forget that Mary had to convince him to spend time with his daughter. They love zooming in on one or two good George moments but they need a lot more evidence when it comes to Mary. Clear double standards. These low IQ idiots don’t even realise this because it’s deeply embedded into their subconscious that mothers must work harder than fathers. The standard to be a good father is a lot lower than the standard to be a good mother that it even shows up when people discuss a TV show. I don’t see a single soul criticising George for not stepping up around the house while he was unemployed, meanwhile Mary was running the house, taking care of the kids and working a job while this bum did nothing to help, didn’t even try to find a new job. I also remember seeing a comment about when Missy ran away and Mary didn’t notice until the next day. Why did they specifically mention Mary and not George also, when he also didn’t notice until the next day. Mary was also at Meemaw’s house due to a dispute between George and Mary, George should’ve notice because he was the one at home with the children and it was HIS truck that Missy took but interestingly people only criticise Mary. And then there was also a lot of people criticising Mary for having hidden cash, which surprised me a lot, she’s a housewife, you idiots! Of course she has hidden money, if she didn’t, she would be compromising her safety. Honestly, I could talk about this show and its stupid fans forever.
