You can NOT tell me that isn't Yudah thinking to himself, and then Yoshua knowing what's about to happen. (Even though I subscribe to the idea that Yoshua told Yudah to report him.)

It's the "now he loiters just beyond my reach" that really does it for me tbh. This is a Yoshua & Yudah song. But also it's not just about Yoshua's death. They both died. They died for each other, in a way. And if we go by Matthew's telling, Yudah was so stricken with guilt that he did the deed himself.

Theologically, spiritually, his body disappeared. Went up to Heaven. He is no longer part of the earth. And that's bad. Because it teaches his followers that the earth is bad, that there is something better that must be strived for. But the earth is all we have.

It feels like the hot tears of Yudah of Kerioth and the glint of silver coins being thrown back into the temple

It feels like the manuscripts found in clay and limestone pots and boxes in various caves, and the ink-stained hands that buried them

It may be prudent to note that not only do they share the altar, but that they are embodied by two Beanie Baby bears that are handfasted together by a broken necklace chain.
