I've only ever actually managed to grab both ankles together a couple of times unassisted. So I was pretty chuffed this morning when I managed to actually hold them for a fair few seconds! Not exactly comfortably, but I managed to find my breath at least, instead of freaking out! I also nearly catapulted myself at the wall on the way out and then everything started to spin - which was kind of fun 😅! Ashtanga third series for the third day running! I am on a role! I know this vid is faaaaaaar too fast but I wanted to show you the arm balance section (part of it at least). You may notice a few differences in this week's ashtanga videos such as - fluffier hair, redder face, shinier skin and looking overall significantly more bedraggled! Ashtanga yoga is difficult and intense but that's part of its appeal - putting yourself in a challenging situation and knowing that you are strong enough to get through it and reap the benefits. For the first 8 years of my yoga practice I only practiced Ashtanga. I enjoyed that it was so hardcore and loved it so much I never even wanted to try other types. Then I started seeing different poses that weren't in the ashtanga sequences and decided I wanted to incorporate a bit more variety. My daily practice evolved into more of a vinyasa flow. This allowed me to be a lot more creative with my sequences but it also allows me to be a lot lazier sometimes! In lots of way this suits me as it's way easier to motivate myself to get on my mat when I know I am in charge of what comes next. (I used to have days when I literally dreaded my practice as the full sequence was so gruelling) However it's also easy for me to conveniently tailor my practice more around the poses that I know come easily to me and that I enjoy, as opposed to the poses that are difficult but my body really does need.
