She hadn’t seen him in a while-- but he hadn’t left her mind. Not since the Tuesday after Valentine’s day. She’d been avoiding people in general since then-- keeping herself in Mul’s house where humans didn’t seem to stray to. After what happened that weekend, guilt had consumed her for two reasons. She’d hurt two people. That weekend had been a confusing time for her. But she ended up with clarity she never knew she’d have before.

Toby likely had already forgotten about her. Or maybe not-- but he might’ve been better off forgetting her in the first place. “Hi Toby,” she spoke quietly as she approached the prince. She’d missed him but she wasn’t sure she was allowed to say that. So she settled for a hi. That was enough for now.

“For me? No. Absolutely none. Just Toby.”

“The only sunshine I’ll ever need, really.”

“Toby is someone I never thought I would have in the many lifetimes I’m going to have to live. I’m glad you see what I do, someone who just genuinely cares despite the many reasons not to.”
