Went through the nsft tag with no filters. Harrowing. Glad the freaks are out there. I think I stick to mine
Do you ever think the guys found out about Prompto getting Luna's letter? They totally would have given him shit for the sniffing thing.
Y'all.
Ewan McGregor is Obi-Wan Kenobi.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is not Ewan McGregor.
Yeah, I said it.
Fandom old here but arenāt āx reader insertsā essentially taking the original character concept, with a few tweaks, and doing it with their full chest?
Because I know that my OCs have different names, backgrounds, and personalities. But itās essentially just me in the story. Because thatās what fanfiction is. Just me making dolls go on adventures and sometimes pretending that one of those dolls is me.

wtf how am I following a sneeze kink tumblr
That's all true but i moreso meant how he isnt even aware how depraved the minds some of these fans he's meeting really are lol
You came back to my weird little section of Tumblr!
I mean⦠ādepravedā is subjective, isnāt it? Consider thisā¦
Two people meet Taker at a meet and greet. Both smile, shake his hand, quick chat, picture and everyoneās happy. One of those people then goes home and writes an entirely fictional scenario (that they never claim is anything other than fiction) featuring some kink stuff between two consenting adults. The other goes home and beats up their partner and kids.
I know which of the two I find ādepravedā.
Would he take offence at people writing kink fics? Personally, I donāt think so - I think heās well aware of the way some people think in regard to that, particularly if a story Iāve heard him tell (twice) about a gift a fan gave him is anything to go by.
Would he be weirded out by the content of kink fics? Possibly, I suppose he might, when you consider the YKINMK adage. Thereās stuff that weirds me out, so I donāt read it.
I do see the point youāre driving at. I think it goes for any of us that if we could peer into the brains / thoughts of people we interact with then it would often give us pause.
As I say, I donāt think heās under any illusions - he might perhaps be surprised that people are writing the kind of things that I write at this point in proceedings (ie. his in-ring career is over and heās approaching 60 years of age).
However, given that Iām not about to copy out any of my fics by hand using quill and ink on to finest parchment, sacrifice a human or animal and use their skin to bind it all into a book and present it to him (that would definitely be weird), Iām not going to lose sleep over anything.
(As a total aside, I think Shawn Michaels would be far more weirded out by fanfic than Mark Calaway would be. Just my opinion.)
I think itās because people are more willing to say that they want the characters to have sex with them and not go through a proxy relationship- ex: writing a penny/Mav fic rather than reader/Mav.
The younger People arenāt as afraid of OCs, SIs and being accused of being a Mary-Sue now and since a lot of them may be dipping their toe into the Top Gun fandom for the first time, that may account for the new surge youāre seeing.
That all sounds completely logical, although I'm not thrilled that you juxtaposed me with, "the younger People" (though I suppose I started it.) I know x Reader fic has become a thing in recent yearsāI have a number of friends who write a lot of it for fandoms in which I do not participateāit's just that it is, as you mentioned, Something That Wasn't Done for many years in fandom. Additionally, and this is just me and not a value judgment at all, but it's never appealed to me. (It could have something to do with my place on the ace spectrum or the fact that I don't want to interact with the characters; I want to explore them interacting with each other. In all honesty, I never had the desire to write any kind of self-insert, etc., even when I started in fandom as "a younger Person;" it just did not interest me. I do occasionally write about myself, and did, in fact, publish a memoir, but that's all nonfiction. Reading and writing about a fictional version of myself just does not do anything for me.)
TLDR, I have never been in a fandom where this was a popular format, and especially because Top Gun has, for the past 36 years, been a very small fandom, it's super weird to me to see the tide turning like this. It's like, "A thousand more people showed up to your party, but they only speak Japanese." I'm thrilled they're here, I'm so happy Top Gun is finding new fans and inspiring them to create, but for me on a personal level it's a bit strange.
