Arackniss sighed as he leaned against the wall next to the window, looking out at the street in the wee hours of the morning as he sipped at his coffee. He could already hear the text bubbles starting on his cellphone. The blips and clicks of the other person typing or receiving his message.

He needed a day off, he needed to breath, get away from all the noise. Just a day and he would be fine but he knew if he didn't check in with Pops, he'd hear about it and he would never stop hearing about it.

Of course that was two days ago, he hadn't answered his phone in two days or really left the house. He was sore, he felt like shit and it had been raining which wasn't helping the situation.

He'd have put his phone on silent but he knew if he did, he'd just forget about it and he needed the reminder of how much shit he was letting pile up, he needed to hear the calls from his father and anyone else that thought they should hear from him while he was hiding away in his tower.

Just a fucking day, it wouldn't kill anyone for him to get at least a day of peace but he supposed that was the problem right there. He wasn't out doing his god damn job, he was sitting on his ass like a bum, expecting things to be handed to him. It wasn't like he hadn't earned a day off but apparently, pops did not fucking agree.

When he called and told him he needed a day, the man laughed like he thought he was joking and Niss nearly lost it but instead, he hung up the phone and took two.

Each text bubble was just a reminder that he couldn't relax because as soon as he was feeling better enough to move right, Pops was going to make sure he knew what it's like to need a fucking day off.

Wouldn't be the first time, definitely wasn't going to be the last.
