And you… you, with the empty, poisoned life you’ve lived – you feel it most of all.

My mind is all I have. Without it, I am nothing. A lab rat. An empty shell. This is my gift, and my curse. I both love and hate it in equal measure.

I knew it would happen eventually. I both dreaded and awaited it. 

Mycroft, I knew, still considered me salvageable. Useful. As long as I provided him with the fruits of my mind, dazzled him enough with predictions and strategies to aid Queen and Country, he would never notice. For all his cleverness, Mycroft can be easier to fool than Sherlock.

But Sherlock, I knew he would know and he would interfere. As apathetic as he wants to be, he cares too much. He still believes me to be reachable… redeemable. And so he had to go.

My brothers, so clever, and yet so easy to control. They fancy themselves beyond the reach of my abilities, but it was easy enough to… speak to them. To reprogram them.

But you... I knew you wouldn’t be swayed so easily. That’s why I chose you.”
